Who sang Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady better?
I’ve been listening to both the Broadway cast recording and the film soundtrack lately, listening to how Julie Andrews and Marni Nixon sound compared to each other.
Julie originated the role, but you know, when you listen to her sing, she does have kind of a nasally quality to her voice.
Marni’s voice is always very pretty.
By the way, Audrey Hepburn did her own singing in most of “Just You Wait” (Marni takes over during the King sequence) and the very beginning of “I Could Have Danced All Night” (Marni takes over at “Not for all the jewels in the crown”).

I grew up listening to the Broadway soundtrack of My Fair Lady, and the movie soundtrack of The King and I. So when I first heard the movie soundtrack of MFF, I kept "hearing" Deborah Kerr, LOL.
So I'll go with Jule Andrews for MFL. But I'll go with Mary Martin, not Julie Andrews, for The Sound of Music. Because I grew up listening to the Broadway version of TSOM, too.

This is so subjective. Both have great voices. I think most people will choose the one they are more used to, for me that's Julie Andrews. I agree w/R2 about Julie Andrews and Martin Martin in SOM as well. Could just never get used to her in that no matter how many times I've seen the film.

I grew up watching Julie in Sound of Music. I got the Broadway cast album when I was in high school. When I heard Mary Martin sing, it sounded like a middle aged woman.
Julie really elevated the role of Maria.
