Irreconcilable Differences starring Ryan O'Neal, Shelley Long, Drew Barrymore and introducing Sharon Stone!
I've always wanted to see this. Found it on youtube. I'm half way thru. Good performances so far. Shelley's Golden Globe nomination probably encourached her that her future lay away from Cheers.
Sharon Stone gets quite an entrance. Just a little touch of star quality.
I fear it will just be a standard picture, nothing special but I'm glad I found it to see Miss Stone's debut.

I've always liked this one. I'd love to know if Peter Bogdanovich was pissed at O'Neal for playing such a thinly veiled version of him in this.

So the movie was based on Peter Bogdanovich?
(finished it. enjoyable enough movie. I was impressed with Shelley Long's performance. Never saw her do drama. Talk about a career that was mishandled. Stone really made a good debut.)

I’m watching it now, OP.
Ryan was still fuckable so I’ll give it a go. Sharon was great in Basic Instinct and Casino, but much more tolerable in her B movie days.

The movie is based on the Peter Bogdanovich. Polly Platt and Cybill Shepherd love triangle of the 1970's.
Sharon is supposed to be playing Cybill. At Long Last Love is spoofed in it as well as a musical set during the civil war.

I'm not exactly a fan of woman's breasts but Sharon's sure were perfect in this film. The nude scene is funny too. (are they real?)

Sharon Stone, Annette Bening and Catherine O’Hara played cunts based on Cybill Shepherd.

The sound cut out 19 minutes in. I've seen the film, but it was a long time ago. Figured I'd watch again but, alas, not to be.

The sound comes back in in a few minutes r9.
Per the comments there was a Frank Sinatra song playing that I guess the poster was worried about not having the rights to.

Thanks, R10. Initially I did the "L" 10 seconds forward and I kept getting silence. Then I did finally move the cursor a few minutes ahead and the sound was back.
I stopped watching because I thought it was going to be an ongoing problem, so thanks for letting me know it's more about copyright than a constant audio glitch.

I had never seen Irreconcilable Differences until 2014, the year my parents' divorce was finalized. I was watching the comedies of 1984 in sync with their release dates. As it happens, Differences also synced up with my birthday.
It ended up being a CATHARTIC experience. Certain lines chilled me to the core. "No, Mom *you* never got over (Dad leaving) us."

Seem to remember this coming out a few years after a child "divorced" herself (think it was a girl) from her parents in the late 1970s.
