Are you disappointed that most of The Gilded Age buildings were demolished?

To follow up, I know that the Frick home is now a museum which I think is a good thing. I would have loved to have seen the Vanderbuilt Mansion myself.

The biggest disappointment is the that the old Penn Station was demolished to be replaced by Madison Square Garden and that awful underground train station. At least the Moynihan Hall has improved what was a terrible situation.

The destruction of the old Penn Station and I'll add: the theaters demolished in and around Times Square.

Actually yes, OP. I think about it often because I get a lot of historical photos on my feed. But there is no way those homes would have been practical as years went by.

Luckily, the ugly scaffolding which envelops every building in Manhattan keeps you from paying much attention to the style of the architecture.

R5 I've been told that the scaffolding lasts a LONG time. That's too bad.
