Prince Harry And Meghan Markle To Suffer 'Huge Loss Of Revenue' As $100M Netflix Deal Will Not Be Renewed

Harry Windsor and Meghan Markle's $100 million Netflix deal will not be renewed when it expires in September, reportedly ending on mutual and amicable terms.

At the same time, Netflix gained significant viewership from its debut docuseries, but recent projects have underperformed.

Although no formal statement is expected from either party, insiders claim the decision to part ways was mutual. Behind the scenes, Netflix executives have quietly decided it's time to move on.

"The deal is done; no more shows will be made. Netflix feel they've got all they can from the couple," the source said. "They're not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time. The content got weaker from there on."

by Anonymousreply 1July 24, 2025 6:32 AM

"Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection," the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously said in a statement.

"Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," they added.

What a pile of crap.

The novelty factor has well and truly worn off, he's just another celeb now.

by Anonymousreply 3July 24, 2025 6:36 AM

r2 They really got all the buzzwords in there. About the only one missing is "joy" which is a bit radioactive for the foreseeable future, lol.

by Anonymousreply 4July 24, 2025 6:38 AM

Meghan is now focused on expanding her lifestyle brand, As Ever, following the successful launch of her rosé. Despite the deal's end, Season 2 of "With Love, Meghan" is set to premiere this fall on Netflix.

And then a Lifestyle career on television will come to a crashing, boring end.

by Anonymousreply 5July 24, 2025 6:39 AM

The two of them are insufferable.

They had the world by the balls with advantages and privilege given to so very few--and they blew it through arrogance, lying, grifting and a complete lack of talent. Who the fuck did they think they were?

by Anonymousreply 6July 24, 2025 6:42 AM

$100M was a ridiculous sum to give them in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 7July 24, 2025 7:03 AM

I think the whole we care about the earth but really only care about ourselves celebrity is done. That includes all the celebs palling around with Bezos.

by Anonymousreply 8July 24, 2025 7:16 AM

Next up: biscuits!

by Anonymousreply 9July 24, 2025 7:18 AM

The deal may have been for up to $100 million, but there is no way they received that amount. The deal was for productivity--and they hardly produced anything. I doubt they received more than $20-$30 million for the entire five-year contract; basically, $20 million per year. They were not going to receive $20 million during the years of the contract when they produced nothing--or next to nothing.

The only successful show they had was their initial reality series during the first year with the two of them being phony royals and bitching and complaining about the British royal family (consisting of lies, distortions and biting the hand that fed them). Other than that, the few other programs associated with them failed spectacularly.

by Anonymousreply 10July 24, 2025 7:43 AM

Who could have seen this coming!?

by Anonymousreply 11July 24, 2025 9:30 AM

Hollywood thought they were going to be a royal version of the Kardashians but they ended up being a La Toya Jackson or Christina Crawford.

The Kardashians are shamelessly trashy and controversial and that’s what gives them attention and popularity and brings the money in. Harry and Meghan thought they were above it but exploiting the royals is the only thing they have going for them, which is trashy, and that’s hard to milk after so long.

by Anonymousreply 12July 24, 2025 11:54 AM

More good entertainment to keep us distracted as our ‘’Rome’’ burns. Thx Netflix!

by Anonymousreply 13July 24, 2025 1:38 PM

It’s rare to see two people less relevant.

by Anonymousreply 14July 24, 2025 1:53 PM

R2 I’m sorry, but how does a stupid lifestyle show where she shows off her privilege give hope? Hope to the upper middle class who aspire to be the elite? Really filling a gap there Megan.

by Anonymousreply 15July 24, 2025 3:22 PM

How dare youse. Markle hiking her skirt up and twerking with Meathead was exccccellenttt and improved lives everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 16July 24, 2025 3:42 PM

I don't think they have as much money as we've all been lead to believe. I mean they probably have 8 figures, but I would doubt 9. Did they pledge the Netflix contract as collateral to buy the mansion and the line of credit? If so, there's gonna be some belt-tightening at Casa Sussex.

by Anonymousreply 17July 24, 2025 4:15 PM

They need a couple of million dollars a year to cover their routine expenses (routine for them if not 99% of the rest of us.)

Security has been estimated at a million plus annually. The taxes and upkeep and utilities on Casa Cray must be another million. Then there’s the ever-churning fleet of nannies and maids and outside staff and “Global Response Team” members, the cars, the travel, the outfits, the layers of lawyers and accountants and hopefully a financial manager, though I doubt that last one.

FAFO. I doubt it, but they never assign any responsibility to themselves for the way their escape has cost them: cut off from their families, out of work, and seen by most of the world as a bad joke.

by Anonymousreply 18July 24, 2025 4:44 PM

Netflix was subsidizing that product line of fruit spreads, tea, flower sprinkles and wine. (Has anyone here tried the wine?). She could try a beauty line next. It’s a glutted market but the stuff is incredibly cheap to produce, it’s all in the packaging and the PR.

Speaking of packaging, I saw a review video of her food items and the labels could not be worse. Just really terrible design so you know she overrode all the professional advice there.

by Anonymousreply 19July 24, 2025 4:53 PM

Send them to Tubi!

by Anonymousreply 20July 24, 2025 5:05 PM

Tubi?

Their lives will soon be Temu.

by Anonymousreply 21July 24, 2025 5:18 PM

She wasn't fired, they mutually decided not to renew. There's a huge difference.

Maybe Meghan and Harry could go into acting. They could do a romantic comedy or something that would endear them to the public.

by Anonymousreply 22July 24, 2025 5:25 PM

[quote]She wasn't fired, they mutually decided not to renew.

bwahahahaha!

by Anonymousreply 23July 24, 2025 5:28 PM

Please, I doubt any renewal was offered.

This is all 'lawyer-speak'.

by Anonymousreply 24July 24, 2025 5:31 PM

Puhleeze, R22.

Funny how little of life her stans understand. Both about business and filmmaking.

by Anonymousreply 25July 24, 2025 5:32 PM

Hope dump throughs them out.

"The parting was very amiable. No animosity on either side."

Jesus Christ, haven't we endured enough lies?!

by Anonymousreply 32July 24, 2025 7:02 PM

It's a Netflix loss. Paramount-Plus is gonna scoop up these two before you can say, "Archie, get me the axe!"

by Anonymousreply 33July 24, 2025 7:04 PM

Sure. The ultra talented and charismatic Harkles will flounce off and take their fascinating content elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 34July 24, 2025 7:17 PM

R21, he’s been a Temu Royal since the day he was born!

by Anonymousreply 35July 24, 2025 7:20 PM

What do you do if you have only one act?

Well, perhaps she'll learn from the mistakes made in the first season of her show. I'd suggest they follow in the footsteps of those other British expats -- the Osbournes. Film the cooking show in your own home. Have him wander in and talk about adjusting to life in the United States. I'd tune in for that. He could be the next Jessica Simpson. Imagine him -- a prince who grew up pampered in palaces -- trying to figure out the check out scanner at the supermarket. Or how to operate the hoses at the self-service car wash. It would mean not having to take yourself seriously, which I don't think he has in him. But it would make him more endearing.

They could keep the little kids out of it. And put the kibosh on talking about his family.

by Anonymousreply 36July 24, 2025 7:45 PM

Hard to know what their overhead is, r18. They seem like the type of people who would cut corners and do everything on the cheap. Cheap nannies, cheap maids, leased cars and bumming rides on private jets.

by Anonymousreply 39July 24, 2025 8:20 PM

"Loss" means it's tax-deductable? But really: How is this a "loss"? I thought you could only lose what you called your own at one point.

by Anonymousreply 40July 24, 2025 8:36 PM

R36, she's never going to keep the kids out of it. One is a prince of the blood, the other a princess of the blood.

by Anonymousreply 41July 25, 2025 3:09 AM

It's doubtful the King even wanted Harry and Meghan's kids to have the titles prince and princess, r41, just like Edward's kids don't, and they were born when their grandmother was Queen, which automatically makes them prince/princess. This is why Harry was so desperate to have his kids documented on UK passports as HRH and prince/princess, even though Archie at least already had a UK passport, although it appears that sneaky trick failed.

No one anywhere cares that Archie and Lili are a prince or princess. Meghan might want to exploit the kids, but Harry wants to keep them out of the limelight, although still seems to have hopes that he can somehow get them to be working royals when they grow up, even though he himself isn't. As the kids grow older, their relationship with the UK will become more of an urgent issue for Harry. He will want them to grow up with some connection to the country and even some kind of relationship with their royal relatives, but Meghan won't allow that (Charles and William will probably be happy to have a relationship with their grandchildren and niece/nephew but they will certainly not give them any royal roles).

But them being labelled a prince/princess several years after their births and potentially only because Harry pressured the King to accept that means nothing in the real world.

by Anonymousreply 42July 25, 2025 6:13 AM

Meghan Markle has a HUGE anus.

by Anonymousreply 43July 25, 2025 6:27 AM

R41, the titles mean a lot to Meghan, who is stuck in the 1980s.

For someone who doesn't want his kids in the limelight, Harry sure has featured with them in a lot of photos Meghan has posted on instagram to help sell her TV show, podcast and shitty jam/spread.

by Anonymousreply 44July 25, 2025 6:50 AM

The only interesting thing to come out of all of this was when Prince Harry revealed in his book that he & Prince William are circumcised.

by Anonymousreply 45July 25, 2025 7:54 AM

Part of the ‘appeal’ of the royals is that they’re not very open.

So initially when Prince Harry started doing interviews everyone was hooked. But now he’s told all he can and people are bored of him.

by Anonymousreply 46July 25, 2025 8:24 AM

How much money do these two really have?

by Anonymousreply 49July 25, 2025 10:58 AM

I highly doubt that William wants anything to do with the spawn of Meg Markle and his traitorous brother. He would have to be on guard for tales they might carry home to be twisted and monetized. And Charles has lots of grandchildren, plus Camilla's family, so no loss there either really. Reap what you siw, Twerkles.

by Anonymousreply 50July 25, 2025 11:03 AM

Before long we will be seeing them endorse June Allison bladder pants adult brand diapers.

by Anonymousreply 51July 25, 2025 11:05 AM

The deal didn't give them $100 million. It was structured so they could earn up to that amount, if I recall. They probably made far less than $10 million. The original show netted them $2 million, I think.

by Anonymousreply 52July 25, 2025 11:06 AM

R49 What Meg is offering her customers is a spread, unsurprisingly as it’s something she’s familiar with.

What do you make of this Oprah duck rescue story? Desperate for attention on an Easter Sunday? WTF? The Harkles *had to* rehome the ducks to Oprah's property that very day?

[QUOTE]“I got a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Sunday,” the longtime TV host revealed during an appearance on Kelly Ripa‘s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera.”

[QUOTE]“He says, ‘Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here.’ A duck had come into their yard and laid their eggs, and had all these chicks.”

[QUOTE]Putting on her best Prince Harry accent, Oprah explained that Harry and Meghan didn’t feel their property was appropriately equipped to house the feathered family, so he asked if they might be able to escort the ducks to the pond on her land instead.

[QUOTE]“He said, ‘Our pond is a stream, we don’t have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?” she recalled.

[quote] she's never going to keep the kids out of it. One is a prince of the blood, the other a princess of the blood.

DNA tests should be done, not to check if Charles is Harry’s father, but rather to check if Harry’s DNA is defective. His offspring would also have defective DNA and so should be valued accordingly.
