Restaurants are empty

Even during hard financial times in the past, Texas restaurants maintained steady business. In the past few weeks, however, I’ve noticed that most food establishments are almost always empty, with maybe one or two diners. Fast food isn’t much better. If we aren’t already in a recession, I believe we soon will be. Scary times. Not feeling so great again.

MARY!

But are there trans working there with self respect. That is the question.

by Anonymousreply 1July 22, 2025 5:36 AM

Oh well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

by Anonymousreply 2July 22, 2025 6:55 AM

Maybe people don't want to pay $25 for a hamburger

by Anonymousreply 3July 22, 2025 6:57 AM

I doubt they've stopped eating.

by Anonymousreply 4July 22, 2025 7:16 AM

Poor Texas. What a shitty state.

We don't have this problem!

by Anonymousreply 5July 22, 2025 7:17 AM

Such a shame when Texas suffers

by Anonymousreply 6July 22, 2025 7:49 AM

I could see a floating restaurant in the middle of Guadalupe River doing quite well!

Beef prices are at record highs.

It's not just Texas. I know several restaurants and bars suffering in Seattle.

by Anonymousreply 9July 22, 2025 8:35 AM

R9 Not Le Cigare Volant, surely!

by Anonymousreply 10July 22, 2025 8:48 AM

It’s happening all over the country.

Prices are outrageous now and some people refuse to realize this because it doesn’t affect them in any way.

It’s easy to not care when you still live off family. The majority of us working know how expensive things are.

Texas is a cesspool

by Anonymousreply 12July 22, 2025 9:03 AM

🎶 Empty chairs at empty tables…

by Anonymousreply 13July 22, 2025 9:27 AM

OP- People can just drive to the restaurant, pick up the food and go home- no waitress necessary.

by Anonymousreply 14July 22, 2025 10:19 AM

Amazing that a group of people in the crosshairs of a nationwide campaign extrajudicial state violence don't feel safe going out for a taco!

by Anonymousreply 15July 22, 2025 10:44 AM

It’s too expensive.

Like the movie industry has been declining but they refuse to acknowledge it’s all too expensive to do all the time.

by Anonymousreply 16July 22, 2025 10:49 AM

Too expensive plus the deportations will make it worse.

by Anonymousreply 17July 22, 2025 10:55 AM

The deportations will have a strong negative effect on the economy. It won’t happen overnight but it will happen.

by Anonymousreply 18July 22, 2025 10:58 AM

Texas voted for this. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 19July 22, 2025 11:00 AM

🎵 A bottle of whites, a bottle of red, perhaps a bottle of rose instead…

by Anonymousreply 20July 22, 2025 11:00 AM

For us, a pre-pandemic once a week takeout and once a week eating in a restaurant has changed into once a month for each.

I can’t justify the cost.
