Elder gays tell us - was the Watergate scandal tame in comparison

to all of the other scandals under 45 and 47?

Nixon and his cronies, on their worst days, would not even begin to approach the levels of dirtball scumbaggery of Trump snd the low lifes he's brought into his "administrations."

In today's world, Fox would have it swept under the rug by the next news cycle. This country has become pathetically partisan thanks to reich wing media.

I was 16 & 17 in 1973 & 1974. I remember there being a new development every day that advanced the story, implicating a cornered Nixon. But of course, as bad as Nixon was, & he was definitely supremely bad by the standards of his era, he paled in comparison to Trump.

Watergate was kid's stuff compared to now.

by Anonymousreply 4July 22, 2025 12:24 AM

Well, as far as I know, Watergate didn't involve a pedophile/sex trafficking of children operation being covered up by elected official either due to being willing participants or due to being framed and blackmailed. Hard to do a reasonable comparison because the mainstream/legacy media also don't operate in any way honestly any longer.

Martha Mitchell was fun.

It was like shoplifting in comparison.

Watergate was much bigger in impact than what's going on now. We were more innocent then and the news was restricted to a few sources unlike today so when it exploded, it was nuclear.
