Many of you live in a bubble. You really have no clue what life is really like outside your little gay life or The DL. I don't think you really know how most people live, their concerns, their aspirations. You live in a country that works because the people you despise get up every morning, work together, and get a lot of stuff done peacefully and, for the most part, respectfully. We are far from perfect, but don't take any of it for granted. Civilization is hard, chaos is easy.

Spent some time in Tulsa with my late husband. Didnt hate it but found it mostly boring . The gay bars were a joke, but that was the late 80s so maybe all that got better. Overall I found the people friendly enough,and believe me when I tell you I flamed from outer space so everyone instantly knew I was gay . Yet overall most were very nice. Again,a different era so who knows now?

I’m horrified but not in the least surprised by this news. To be fair, those of us living in NYC - allegedly liberal, blue as fuck, progressive and so on - can take zero comfort in thinking our children are faring any better. It disgusts me that we’re raising a generation of children who in large measure are functionally illiterate.

Recent results from the standardized tests taken by 4th graders show that 41% are rated as “Below Basic” in reading. In 4th grade! By 4th grade they should be able to read, understand, and discuss novels.

The results broken down demographically are even more discouraging, with 51% of Latino 4th graders and 55% of Black 4th graders rated as Below Basic in reading. Why do we as a society accept such dismal achievement?

I’ll admit to not knowing too much about Oklahoma. But I’d never crow that in NYC we’re better than they are.

The whole situation makes me fear for the future.

R22, I tried to write a response but it is too long and too complicated. You can Google these topics. Look at how people are voting, what they are saying on social media, don't use the MSM as your source of information. As we all well now know, they are just propaganda outlets.

He is running for governor next year, and we can all hope he falls in the primary, and slithers back from his hellhole, never to be seen again.
