I loved "Moonlighting" and he's hilarious as the baby's voice in "Look Who's Talking" (the first and ONLY one as far as I'm concerned) but other than that, no. But Bruce Willis is another piece of our old lives, pre-Covid and pre-Maga-Lardo Part II

He lost the ability to communicate several years ago. For all their famewhoring, his family's done a surprisingly good job of protecting his privacy so far. Frontotemporal dementia is a brutal diagnosis that the tabloids would feast upon if given the opportunity.

He had a pretty undistinguished acting career. A tiny handful of decent movies and then an absolute mountain of crap. I'm sorry he has a neurological condition but I wasn't sad to hear he was retiring.

His later films are always turning up on Tubi or Pluto, those streaming channels. I started to watch one and it was just so weird, he had such a flat affect. Seemed like all his dialogue was filmed separately and spliced in and maybe it was but it was so bad that it was obvious something was wrong with him. This was way before news got out about his diagnosis. He must’ve made over 20 films like that.

I really liked him in Die Hard.

I read an article that said the same thing about the filming methods toward the end. He always wore earpieces where they fed him one line at a time and he'd just have to repeat it, but there were days he couldn't do that.

R42, is there medical evidence to back that up? Lots of people do cocaine and don’t end up like this.

I feel like intense drug use can trigger medical conditions that otherwise would have stayed dormant or been less severe. Some speculate the same thing about Michael J Fox and Parkinson’s, but there is no proof. I do think cocaine leads to early cardiac issues.

Of course, the new wife is writing a memoir about being a caregiver to Bruce. (You know Bruce doesn't even know who the fuck she and the new daughters are; that's why Demi had to move in with them.) I'm sorry, but what did you expect when you married someone old enough to be your father? Also, you know the new wife had input on all the shit movies he's done in the past 10-15 years. It was less than admirable the way he worked long beyond the point he should have. I never found him attractive and he seemed like a jerk in the 80’s and 90’s but I will always love him for Unbreakable and this is a terrible way for someone’s life to end.
