None of them are appropriate for swimming, which surprised me because I've always associated the Caribbean with calm seas (e.g Cancun, Bahamas, etc) and the Pacific coast with bigger / more dangerous waves.

The show was event viewing back in the day, with 30 million people a week watching. It was number one for five seasons. It single handedly revived NBC, and (along with Cheers, Family Ties, Night Court and Hill Street Blues) created their successful Thursday night TV block which NBC dominated for twenty years.

No show pulls that kinds of ratings or influence anymore.

Would he have still been making money from The Cosby Show reruns/streaming? I've always been curious what the financial impact of the Cobsy fall from grace was for that cast.

I thought the early 90s with Friends and Seinfeld were the first shows where the cast got paid for reruns forever.

I'd imagine he probably got better deals for his later TV shows but they were no where near as successful as The Cosby Show.

I think this was the whole contention of the actor's strike which crippled the industry a couple of years ago. Actors were compensated satisfactorily in syndication packages (of old shows), but once the show went streaming - they received next-to- nothing if anything at all. IIRC, they were paid a token flat-fee, and they wanted a higher fee with the new contract. I believe the agreement going forward was they'd get a much higher fee on future deals for new programs. The ones already streaming was not included in the new contract. Please correct me if I'm wrong. *And I believe this was a major contention with the writers' strike which happened right after.

I would say maybe less. Nell Carter was making 30k an episode as the star of Gimme A Break! Mindy Cohn was making 40k by season 5.

30K and 40K and episode back in the mid-80s for new TV stars was a lot of money. I'm sure veteran TV stars such as Bea Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan could demand much more than that.

Cosby, himself, by the end made 4 million per episode. Phylicia would have been less but still more than the kids.

They were child actors. At that point in history, they probably made between 5-15K per episode. By the end, some of the kids, may have hit 20K.

Raven-Symoné made that per episode of "That's So Raven" but that was also her show and it was on Disney.
