🥔 Vichyssoise 🥣 Is the Soup of the Gays 🕳️

Lord, it's steamy today. 🔥 The window unit's making that noise again. 🧊 Just can't keep up.

I saw this in a Ladies' Home Journal at the chiropractor👨‍⚕️ and I tore it out, but I'm not supposed to have 🐄 cream or butter.

I pronounce it 🥔 vee-she-swah, it sounds better. 🥣 Who can fuck with consonants in this heat?

Are there eldergays with a recipe that's not gloppy and high-fat? Where is Greg when you need him 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛💩?

I'm not supposed to drink neither, 🍸not on these meds.

I did not mention my 🌮 mussy 🐠 because I was raised right.

I've eaten cold soup but not by choice.

Can someone please call OP a cab?

I prefer gazpacho to vichyssoises.

It's all a matter of taste

I like gazpacho better too. And I always find it strange, since I detest raw tomatoes.

R4 🐝 Honey, I'm at home. I don't go out 🏡 when I get like this.

I make an AMAZING potato leek soup but I never serve it cold.

I make it when I have leftover mashed potatoes and then add additional diced potatoes so it's nice and thick. I also add a bit of shredded gruyere to my bechamel base and top it with Applewood bacon bits for added smokiness. I use the leftover leeks and gruyere for a galette that I serve on the side (if I have figs on hand I'll add those too). It's the perfect winter lunch.

I thought we agreed that split pea soup is 'the' soup of DL?

by Anonymousreply 9July 21, 2025 8:49 PM

^Also, there is absolutely no way to make a good potato leek soup without cream or fat. I'm of the mind that if you cannot do butter, you just need to find another cuisine, because French food without butter/fat is not French food worth eating.

You're pronouncing it wrong and it makes you look silly.

Liza is actually right - you pronounce the s and e at the end. swahze.

There is no other pronunciation.

by Anonymousreply 11July 21, 2025 8:52 PM

Vush-wash-wush-wush.

Same with "coup de grace." I heard someone today say "coo duh GRAH" and it set my teeth on edge.

by Anonymousreply 14July 21, 2025 11:41 PM

How about a nice cock-a-leekie?

(Sounds too much like "caca leaky," which reminds one of Olestra.)

Where da recipe, OP? I love vichyssoise.

Can you at least cite the correct LHJ issue, please?
