Who wants a dead, stuffed, lifeless version of their once-living beloved pet?

Would someone have their dead spouse stuffed and propped up?

Sí.

I don’t even want to know what this cost.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 20, 2025 5:16 PM |
Absolutely fucking not. And I hope people realise these are going straight in the trash as soon as they die because ain't nobody keeping this shit around. Is that really how you want your beloved pet disposed of in the end?
Also, it only takes one look at her to realise she's one big walking, talking emotional mess. So this is something for people with extreme attachment issues.

There was a thing a decade or so ago fir getting pets freeze- dried
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 20, 2025 7:31 PM |
No. The weird thing is with horses they only use the hide which is why Trigger and Misty look so strange.

I had little felt dolls made of my cats (with a little of their fur inside), but this...blerg- it would scare the stuffing out of me just sitting there and staring at me.

Iola had her cat freeze dried on Mama’s Family. It was a hot option several decades ago. Roy Roger’s had Trigger taxidermied, though he passed on stuffing Dale.

I understand the sentiment - but no - a large picture should be fine.

A tasteful urn with a loving inscription would be as far as I go.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 21, 2025 12:12 AM |
Just not for me.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 21, 2025 12:13 AM |
But I'd aboslutely clone him, if I could afford to.

She had her second husband made into a small cagoule when he died.
"Oh don't be ridiculous! CAGOULE? Who ever heard of such a thing. It was a small waisted evening jacket with Chanel buttons. As in life, he was a tight fit that never suited me very well."

No Words.

In the old days of alt.showbiz.gossip, one of the posters got their cat taxidermied and put him in the stereo cabinet. I can't be the only one here who remembers that.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 21, 2025 2:47 AM |
That taxidermist did a damn good job on the cat; when the weirdo owner was unboxing it that cat looked totally alive.
Now, I love and adore my pets, grieve them for a long time and miss them forever--but it's enough for me to dust their little boxes of ash for some, and think of others when I see their burial places in the backyard.
It feels somehow unseemly to want to hold on that hard to a life that wasn't yours to begin with.
