Travelers to the U.S. must pay a new $250 'visa integrity fee'

Visitors to the United States will need to pay a “visa integrity fee,” according to a provision of the Trump administration’s recently enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The fee applies to all visitors who need nonimmigrant visas to enter, and cannot be waived.

However travelers may also be able to get the fees reimbursed, according to the provision.

Details about the new requirement are scant, which has resulted in “significant challenges and unanswered questions regarding implementation,” a spokesperson from the U.S. Travel Association told CNBC Travel.

Expect other countries to retaliate.

Should they make the check out to Donald J. Trump?

by Anonymousreply 2July 20, 2025 12:34 AM

This is why they* hate us.

by Anonymousreply 3July 20, 2025 12:36 AM

American tourism will take a never nosedive.

by Anonymousreply 4July 20, 2025 12:51 AM

You Americans must be so tired of all this winning.

by Anonymousreply 5July 20, 2025 2:06 AM

Trump and the word "integrity" should never be spoken of together.

by Anonymousreply 6July 20, 2025 2:07 AM

Jfc. Does Putin just tell him to do this stuff for funsies?

by Anonymousreply 7July 20, 2025 2:16 AM

It starts immediately? When does it commence?

by Anonymousreply 8July 20, 2025 2:28 AM

Half-assed and fucked up.

Typical Trumpian legislation.

I have no plans to visit so fuck your fee.

Apparently they're obsessed with people (specifically brown people) "overstaying their visas," and typically didn't stop to think how this might affect tourism. It's probably another bright idea from Stephen Miller.

Even with the weak dollar I hope people from the rest of the world have the sense to stay away from the US right now.

Another* not never.

Will Trump pocket this cash, too?

R13 No, the contract for collecting the money has been awarded to Pmurt Visa Integrity Solutions, a shell company in the Caymen Islands.

Visa prices are reciprocal. Whatever the US charges citizens of other countries for a U.S. visa is matched by other countries. Remember when Americans whined about visa costs to visit Brazil for the Rio Olympics? It was the exact same price Brazilians had to pay for a US visa. In other words, just like tariffs, this is simply a new tax on Americans.

The motto of the Trump Administration is “Gimme a quarter.”

The US, the world capital of nickel and diming people to death. Convenience fees, service fees, processing fees, etc. Now "integrity" fees - the biggest joke of all, from a government with zero integrity whatsoever.

The upcoming Soccer World Cup and Olympics need to move out of the US.

Shades of the Berlin Olympics

He bought Nevada with “no tax on tips” but didn’t tell him there would no longer be any international tourists.

P.S. “no tax on tips” expires in four years but the high-income and corporate tax cuts are forever.

Suckers

72 million international visitors last year. That's $18B -- all money to fund ICE.

by Anonymousreply 20July 20, 2025 1:16 PM

Canadians don't need visas but they're still not visiting.

Look at this idiot who runs a lodge of sorts. He thinks it's because people are scared and doesn't seem to get that people are offended by Trump and his comments. Note his "blue lives matter" flag in the background. Bet the dude is MAGA.

Obviously they don't want to spend their money here after being disrespected, but I also wouldn't blame them for being scared when you have ICE running rampant, detaining people at the border, etc. MAGAts are aggressive, stupid, trigger-happy, and more than a few are raging white nationalists. They certainly scare me and I'm a white US citizen.

Citizens of good countries (relatively speaking) don’t need a visa to visit the U.S., so there’s no problem for them.

Travel prices in the U.S. are down this summer, so it’s a good time for Americans to focus on seeing the U.S.
