Your Go-To 1980's Show?

What is/was your go-to show of the 1980's?

by Anonymousreply 31July 20, 2025 12:01 AM

Wow, I was discerning even then. I never watched any of those shows!

by Anonymousreply 1July 19, 2025 6:26 PM

Murder, She Wrote is my favorite now. I like a cozy murder mystery, and I love all the old Hollywood stars that turn up, especially in the earlier seasons. And Angela Lansbury is such a treat as Jessica. I wish they’d run the show another five years.

Knots Landing, NOT Knot’s Landing!

by Anonymousreply 3July 19, 2025 6:34 PM

I watched LA Law, Cheers, and sometimes Dynasty, none of the others. Since I didn't watch Dynasty regularly, I never knew what was going on.

I watched Family Ties, Head of the Class, Growing Pains, Night Court, Unsolved Mysteries, 21 Jump Street, Kids in the Hall and a lot of stuff on USA Up All Night and MTV.

by Anonymousreply 4July 19, 2025 6:35 PM

...and Cosby.

by Anonymousreply 5July 19, 2025 6:36 PM

R1 Wow!!

by Anonymousreply 6July 19, 2025 6:36 PM

R5 I should have added The Cosby Show! One of my favorites!

by Anonymousreply 7July 19, 2025 6:40 PM

The only one of those shows that I ever watched was Cheers but I didn't consider it my go-to show. I stopped watching it pretty much right after Diane and Sam slept together.

by Anonymousreply 8July 19, 2025 6:40 PM

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. I don't watch any '80s shows now.

'80s shows aren't nostalgic for me, '70s shows are, and I think they're better, usually.

by Anonymousreply 9July 19, 2025 6:42 PM

I don't think the question was about anyone watching these shows NOW, R9.

I think the question was what you were watching on TV back THEN. Unless I've misunderstood the question.

by Anonymousreply 10July 19, 2025 8:25 PM

r4, wtf was Kids in the Hall?

by Anonymousreply 11July 19, 2025 10:09 PM

R11 It was a sketch comedy show.

by Anonymousreply 12July 19, 2025 10:14 PM

Remington Steele, Mangum PI, and Simon & Simon in that order (I was a tween with a type).

by Anonymousreply 13July 19, 2025 10:18 PM

R13 No "Riptide?"

by Anonymousreply 14July 19, 2025 10:20 PM

I was way into Moonlighting ‘86-87 when it was great.

by Anonymousreply 15July 19, 2025 10:26 PM

Roseanne, yes Roseanne. That would be after Moonlighting. Never watched any of the others.

by Anonymousreply 16July 19, 2025 10:33 PM

FALCON CREST!

by Anonymousreply 17July 19, 2025 10:44 PM

Where’s Dallas?

by Anonymousreply 18July 19, 2025 10:47 PM

I was a kid in the 80's so I watched The A-Team and Knight Rider

by Anonymousreply 19July 19, 2025 10:48 PM

No Alf?

by Anonymousreply 20July 19, 2025 10:49 PM

China Beach

by Anonymousreply 21July 19, 2025 10:51 PM

Where the FUCK is Dallas?

This poll fails

by Anonymousreply 22July 19, 2025 10:56 PM

The Golden Girls, Designing Women, and Murder, She Wrote in that order.

by Anonymousreply 23July 19, 2025 10:58 PM

Of those choices it would be Cheers for those first seasons.

by Anonymousreply 24July 19, 2025 11:06 PM

Small Wonder

by Anonymousreply 25July 19, 2025 11:09 PM

Hill St Blues

by Anonymousreply 26July 19, 2025 11:11 PM

All I know is apostrophe abuse, while still present in the 1980s, wasn't as rampant as demonstrated in that anemic list

by Anonymousreply 27July 19, 2025 11:15 PM

I'm thinking about it and realizing I didn't watch a lot of TV in the 80s.

by Anonymousreply 28July 19, 2025 11:18 PM

I vaguely remember it R14, but it wasn't on long enough. I was born in 74, so I actually caught shows like Remington Steele, Magnum PI, etc. "late" and would catch up on prior seasons via re-runs on syndication on cable (WGN).

Also "V" with Marc Singer. Between the mini-series and the show, it was on for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 29July 19, 2025 11:23 PM

Moonlighting

Cheers

Yes, Minister

by Anonymousreply 30July 19, 2025 11:24 PM

The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd
