My GI doctor told me to put one rounded teaspoon of Miralax in a glass of hot water with lemon juice and drink it first thing every morning. Make sure you eat fresh vegetables like brussel sprouts and broccoli, salads. and avoid sweets, red meat, alcohol, and caffeine.

When you're constipated you do not take Metamucil. It will bind you up. Take Colace, a stool softener, and maybe a couple of prunes at bed time. But never take Metamucil when your constipated, or any other fiber supplent. The good thing about Miralax is when you use it like my GI doctor suggested, it helps balance the moisture in the colon and aids in having regulate bowel movements. Of course you can use more and it's a laxative, but I don't use it that way. It keeps me regular.

Metamucil can be somewhat effective but you cannot take too much and you need to drink a significant amount of water.
I prefer a supplement I get from Swanson - Senna, Cascara and Psyllium Complex.
I do sometimes also use a gentle laxative or stool softener (both Walmart and Target have cheap versions of both.)

I eat an orange a day, preferably Cara Cara.
Prunes work but the Sunsweet ones are covered in honey or something sweet so be careful. I believe the package says 5 is a serving but I eat 2 or 3 when needed.
Mineral oil is what my Grandmother used to use. It tastes god awful is hard to swallow but it does work.
I will use Magnesium Citrate if I haven't shit in 2 or 3 days. I don't usually need to drink the whole bottle.
Dulcolax chews work as well but I find that they mess me up a day or 2 after I use them. Like they use too much of the moisture in my colon.
I'm on Mounjaro and rarely have days when I'm constipated.
Some people swear by White Castle sliders.

R39 Funny you mention that. I went to a questionable Asian buffet for my father's birthday many years ago, came back and then decided to go for a walk with my neighbor's little Pomeranian. I ran back home with the dog in my arms as fast as Usain Bolt so I wouldn't end up shitting in the street like in the movie Bridesmaid. Got home, threw the dog on the couch (she landed on her feet), ran upstairs, my cat was lying on the bathroom carpet. When he heard the sound coming out of my ass, he jumped in the air, probably thought it was WW III and we had just been bombed. I was on the shitter for an hour, on and off.

Sugar free candy is horrendous for you. It is full of sugar alcohols (hard on the liver) and fake fiber. Just have real candy but less of it.
