Things are changing.
The VMAs will air on CBS for the first time
by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 9, 2025 1:46 AM |
They're desperate for ratings.
At one time, they were blocking out every Viacom owned channel to show it.
The VMA's have been irrelevant for years.

LL looks like a Hood Mutant Ninja Turtle.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 8, 2025 12:03 AM |
Is this the official thread?!?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 8, 2025 12:04 AM |
The VMAs is much more entertaining than the Grammys and the winners make sense. The Grammys big four category winner is always which of these is most unlike the others but still sold millions. It’s annoying. At least the Oscars it’s generally the top acclaimed films. The Grammys is all over the place and never makes sense.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 8, 2025 12:05 AM |
Who is this? I’m old.

by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 8, 2025 12:06 AM |
There are rumors Queen Bey is debuting her new single for her rock album. 😱 Me can’t wait.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 8, 2025 12:10 AM |
That was a much better performance than the opener. Still don’t know who any of these people are though…
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 8, 2025 12:17 AM |
Lady GaGa needs to sit down. Sorry, Honey---you aren't profound..Gaga thinks a MAN should be celebrated International Womens Day...
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 8, 2025 12:17 AM |
It’s so low wattage. It feels small. The VMAS never used to feel small.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 8, 2025 12:17 AM |
Ouch...Ricky is singing off key....
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 8, 2025 12:22 AM |
You know who I want to hear sing?....Ricky Martins nephew.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 8, 2025 12:24 AM |

Which singer will be the first one to read their "thank you" speech off their phone? It's coming. Wait for it....
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 8, 2025 12:32 AM |
Will Mariah move and jump around and bring the same energy to her performance that Ricky brought to his?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 8, 2025 12:35 AM |
R10 My whole thing is let the MTF trans celebrate all the women shit. They think like women, act like women, and believe they truly are a women. So let them have that. They should not be playing in female sports or using female restrooms, which the latter should never be enforceable because we should never pass laws where one must prove their sex to use a restroom. Therefore the only men arrested for using a female restroom should be big freak bodied men looking like regular men going into a female restroom for a sick fetish claiming to be trans. Also only women can get pregnant. I can’t stand to see a published article using the word birthing body. It’s a fucking pregnant woman, cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 8, 2025 12:39 AM |
Who’s is this singer in the white two-piece getup with geegaws?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 8, 2025 12:39 AM |
R15 jealous? As Queen Bey said, if you got it flaunt it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 8, 2025 12:40 AM |
I never understood why it was called the Video Music Awards.
They're known as "music videos" so why not the Music Video Awards?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 8, 2025 12:41 AM |
She’s rolling around in a litter box. We need a cat to bury her.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 8, 2025 12:41 AM |
[quote] The VMA's have been irrelevant for years.
Well, what can you expect? Considering the fact that the channel who created the Video Music Awards stop caring about 20 years ago in actually airing music videos.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 8, 2025 12:43 AM |
R22 Because they’re also celebrating the music not just the music videos onto themselves. Plus VMA sounds better than MVA.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 8, 2025 12:46 AM |
Rosé go awé.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 8, 2025 12:46 AM |
Paris Hilton trying to read the winner’s name upside down, lol
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 8, 2025 12:50 AM |
I'm not watching this - are they actually giving out awards for something? (Does anyone make videos anymore?) Or is it just an excuse to bring out a bunch of washed-up celebrities?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 8, 2025 12:56 AM |
R25 the VMAs were created to honor the best in music videos.
Most of the categories honor a music video of some genre.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 8, 2025 12:59 AM |
I’m convinced they just put out feelers of who they could get and then agreed to give them awards. In what world are Ricky Martin and Busta Rhymes relevant award winners of 2025?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 8, 2025 1:01 AM |
R28 Most artists still make music videos. Queen Bey is the only big artist I can think of who released two highly successful albums with no music videos. Cowboy Carter has video teasers which are just 10-15 seconds of video looped continuously throughout the song. They not Like Us, which won Record and Song of the year at the Grammys, had a music video as well as most of the singles Taylor released from her latest album.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 8, 2025 1:03 AM |
R30 I’m guessing they are getting lifetime achievement awards, no? You must be a boomer. Busta was at the forefront of music videos in the 90s and aughts. And Ricky as a Latin artist is one the biggest, with his early stuff getting all type of VMA nominations. Busta was seen as prolific not just for hip hop but the art direction, cinematography, and special effects were prolific for music videos in general.

Arianna hobbling in on the arm of Law Roach. Is she too anorexic to walk by herself? Or is she in a dress that she can’t walk in.

Oh, dear Mariah…
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 8, 2025 1:30 AM |
Just put her in a wheelchair.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 8, 2025 1:32 AM |
Did Mariah forget how to walk?

Steven Tyler seemed annoyed the Yungblud was singing so close to him.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 8, 2025 2:18 AM |
Apparently they told the VMA winners they could give as long and as boring acceptance speeches as they wanted.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 8, 2025 2:22 AM |
R44 Her name is Glo-rilla you fkin cunt 😂. I think her gubmint name is Gloria.

Sombr and Ariana both need a cheeseburger pronto
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 8, 2025 2:39 AM |
Where's Ariana' latest trophy troll boyfriend? Did she dump him for someone else's husband?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 8, 2025 2:40 AM |
R49 probably on tour. Big artists use to make their schedules with the VMA date in mind because the ratings were high enough, it created an uptick in sales and publicity leading up to award season. It’s the reason why the artists nowadays who show up usually “win”.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 8, 2025 2:42 AM |
Who is this flaming young performer?

Did CBS buy MTV?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 8, 2025 3:48 AM |
R19 makes sense.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 8, 2025 3:51 AM |
R25 makes sense too. MVA is probably taken and/or confusing.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 8, 2025 3:55 AM |
I don’t recognize most of the people and I thought Sabrina Carpenter was Dakota Johnson.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | September 8, 2025 3:58 AM |
The only thing worse that these FemmeBoys are the 98 pound FemmeBoys. Not Kidding = his rib cage was showing during his performance. Gross.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 8, 2025 5:48 AM |
What does MTV have to do with music? This shit is dreadful. No one watches with good reason.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | September 8, 2025 11:45 AM |
[quote]The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards just gave millennials the biggest flashback to the early ’00s, and the obsession is real. From Ricky Martin to Mariah Carey to Busta Rhymes, the ceremony hosted by LL Cool J on Sunday at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, was packed with appearances and performances that were the epitome of millennial nostalgia.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 8, 2025 11:53 AM |
The whole thing felt sad. The VMAs used to be massive, with pre shows and after shows. Every artist showed up, even if not nominated or presenting or performing. It had massive cultural capital, and was a great summer-fall transition.
This year show felt like a glorified People’s Choice Awards. It was clear that only the winners showed, and obviously knew beforehand. It made every award feel like a coronation rather than a competition. Despite the venue being very large and filled, the whole thing felt small. Which is weird, since it was its first time on network.

I felt like Brian in this FAMILY GUY bit, "I tell ya, every year I recognize fewer and fewer names."

Sombr seems like the real deal in terms of talent.

R65 his album is fantastic. It's a breakup album but doesn't make you sad when you listen.
His tour has been upgraded to larger venues after selling out so quickly and people asking outrageous prices on the secondary market. He's on the third venue upgrade where I live. Went from 550 to 1500 to now 6500.

R62 Busta Rhimes and Mariah Carrey are for millenials? I was 11 when Mariah Carey hit it big in 1990 and I'm technically Gen X.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 8, 2025 5:26 PM |
And Ricky Martin too, at most he was a Xennial thing. Livin La Vida loca, when he peaked in the U.S, was 1999. The oldest millenial was 18.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 8, 2025 5:29 PM |
R56 CBS is owned by Paramount, who also owns MTV, VH1, BET etc.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 8, 2025 10:45 PM |
The ratings are up 42% from last year and the highest ratings The show has had in 6 years
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 8, 2025 10:46 PM |
R74 Yes. Most Millenials were born in the 80s. And grew up with Mariah and Busta in the 90s and early aughts. Obviously younger Gen X—they would be big amongst them too; they are Gen X themselves. Eminem, 50 cent, Jay-Z all Gen X artists wildly popular amongst millenials.

The way Ariana Grande has more mentions than the rest of them combined. She is such a ratings juggernaut.

R79 someone can’t do math.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 8, 2025 11:42 PM |
Just because someone mentions you doesn't mean it's a compliment. What a ridiculous measure of ANYTHING.

R81 I just want that ho to properly learn his mathematics before stanning like a queen.

🚨 | According to Forbes, the 2025 #VMAs received over 2.5 BILLION global votes on its categories, more than doubling last year's figures.
— Also, again, now that Ariana Grande attended for the first time in 7 years, the show had its biggest edition in terms of video views and engagements, with 1 BILLION and 81 MILLION, respectively.
