Rita Coolidge is a very underrated singer and deserves to be in the same category as Karen Carpenter and Dusty Springfield, especially as her voice sounds like a combination of both.
Why isn’t she more well known?

She had a nice voice, but it wasn't exactly full of vim and vigor.
A vocalist without emotion or stage presence.
Still, I had that album in OP's pic in high school and loved it.

SCTV once did a sketch about a Rita Coolidge-Anne Murray TV special - the two most dull performers on earth. It was hilarious.
I wish I could find it online, but I could only find this still from it with Andrea Martin as Anne and Catherine O'Hara as Rita.

Someone just posted this on another thread.
Cher - Country Medley (with Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge) (The Cher Show, 04/13/1975)

Love her version of "We're all Alone" and "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love". How many times have many of us felt that way?

She was OK. Not terrible but as R2 correctly noted, not a whole lot of "oomph" in her singing or songs. Dusty was in the same range but definitely imbued her songs with more personality and emotion.
This is the song I remember best.

Boz Scaggs’ original was better.
She was the epitome of bland.

A song that's more upbeat for her
