I don't love her singing voice, but my first live encounter with her -- playing Sally Cato in one of Charles Busch's one-off AUNTIE MAME readings -- I was very impressed by her presence and panache. Also, coincidentally enough, I watched her LAW & ORDER episode last night -- also terrific.
Then there's THE JAZZ SINGER . . .

She's very down to earth and an all-around lovely superstar. Most children of superstars aren't nearly as well-adjusted as she is.

She deserved an Oscar nomination for The Jazz Singer.
One of the few whom nepo baby doesn’t apply. She could have had a HUGE career a la Liza Minnelli if she wanted it.

OMG I meant "an all-around lovely PERSON." I wish DL had an edit function.

Agree. Lucie is immensely talented. She could have worked more, but she decided that she wanted a healthy family life with well-adjusted kids.

She was quite good in a late-season episode of Law & Order, IIRC. I also remember that she played a rather convincing dykey detective in an episode of Murder She Wrote.

Does anyone know where in Palm Springs she lives? I always thought she lived in Rancho Mirage or wherever Lorna Luft lives.
A lot of times they say Palm Springs - but it's actually a neighbor city.

She's doing a live show this week in Palm Springs.
I've been to the cabaret venue and it's pretty great, I genuinely wish I could see her show.

I like her. But I couldn’t stand that dumbass Broadway musical she did, They’re Playing Our Song.

^^Lucie Arnaz and They’re Playing Our Song were fabulous.

I can't believe we've never discussed They're Playing Our Song here!

We have, R18. Extremely boring thread.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 27, 2025 11:40 PM |
Agreed, R19. But this is Datalounge, where the likes of Lucie Arnaz and JoBeth Williams (accomplished pros both, but come on, now) are worshipped and ONE DAY AT A TIME gossip is presented as if it's up-to-the-minute hot dish.

Um, no.
[quote]One of the few whom nepo baby doesn’t apply.
So playing the daughter on her mother's television show is considered what?

I'll second R21...

Yes - NO!

I honestly thought she was older. Not because she looks it, but I just thought she was older, for some reason.

Who? Famous for what?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 28, 2025 2:07 AM |
Considering her lack of everything, Lucie did extremely well in show biz. She should be proud, we should stop talking about her.

Proof?

Proof?
Come see my show at the Purple Room, you cheap bitches!

Sure, I'll fly in.
The weather report for Palm Springs, August 29th says it'll be101, with no clouds.
Paradise!

Will she tell the story of how she and her brother disinterred their mother from Forest Lawn and moved her up to Jamestown and their "family museum"?
