16 and 17-year-olds will be able to vote at next UK general election under plans to lower voting age
doing this now there's evidence of the younger generations skewing right-wing lol

16 and 17 year olds don't know SHIT, when it comes to politics.
Nor do they care.
This is the dumbest decision ever.
The voting age should be raised, and not lowered.

I agree with R2.
I wonder how going to shake out. It used to be that younger people were more likely to be liberal but now it’s different. Reform UK is doing very well in the polls.
I just can’t imagine a Nigel Farage as Prime Minister.

[quote] YouGov's latest voting intention poll, external puts Labour in the lead amongst 18 to 24-year-olds at 28%, followed by the Greens on 26% and the Liberal Democrats on 20%. In contrast, the Conservatives were on 9% and Reform UK on 8%.
r1 In the UK its actually the opposite since we had a decade of a right wing government fucking things up. As opposed to most of Europe who had left wing governments fucking things up. So the younger vote skews more left leaning than in other places.

This is great. We need more young people voting and feeling invested in the political process. They are also the ones with the most at stake; 60 and 70 year olds will be gone in one or two decades but most16 year olds will still be on this planet 60 years from now.
R1 & R2 sound old as fucking dirt and about as clued in, too.

R5, the ones who vote are heavily conservatives. The other countries that did this recently all got far Right governments thanks to young people. Trust me, this will be a disaster. This is the Andrew Tate and trad wives followers who will be voting.
