What is the best pop song ever made?
I know, it's nearly impossible.
But if you HAD TO pick one song, as the best pop song ever made. What would it be?
I'm torn between "Gangnam Style" by PSY and "We Found Love" by Rihanna.
But if forced to choose, it would be "Gangnam Style."
"We Found Love" felt a bit forced, at times. The lyrics were also too sappy for that age.
Gangnam Style had it all. Youthful vigor, angst, humor, romance, music, interesting lyrics, a villain you love and hate, and a compelling video with a satisfying ending.

Your definition of "ever" seems quite limited.

Different Drum - Linda Ronstadt and Stone Poneys. It’s the perfect chord progression, vocal, and length.

Gangnam Style? OP, you're nuts.
There is no "best" as far as pop music goes. There are just too many great songs to choose from.
Listen to this one again:
Martha & The Vandellas "Dancing in the Streets"

R6 I love everything about that song, but I wish it were longer. It is so pleasant on the ears that I never want it to end. It's one I will play over and over until I'm "satisfied."

The Girl and the Robot by Röyksopp feat. Robyn.
I know it's not typical DL fare, but give it a chance. It's perfectly crafted.

R29 nice. I’d nominate Hang With Me for dance-pop Robyn perfection.
Perfection in pop hits by decade:
1960s, Be My Baby (Ronettes)
1970s, Dancing Queen (ABBA)
1980s, Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Tears for Fears)
1990s, I Want It That Way (Backstreet Boys)
2000s, Hips Don’t Lie (Shakira)
2010s, Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen)
2020s… tbd but Espresso is a contender

R33, Dreaming is a funny one. Such a gorgeous pop song, and then they recorded and mixed it with the drummer overplaying so frantically!!! and LOUDLY!!! on every line.

I mean just listen to the isolated drum track. He must have had a LOT of coffee or the late-70s drug equivalent.

Dreaming (Blondie) is wonderous, and features backing vocals by Lorna Luft and Ellie Greenwich, making this some kind of magical gay opus.
but the GOAT is Be My Baby.
