Any fans of this film? I saw it when it first came out and had no idea it was a Scorcese. It is so weird and yet good. Good songs.
I was always scared of it when I saw the cover at the video store.

Apparently as of last year yes.

Loved it when it came out. Saw it twice in theaters.
But haven't seen it in almost 40 years. Should watch it again.

R2 maybe instead of being the thread hall monitor, you could petition the DL powers to get a better search engine.

I'm sorry but I could have walked back to his apartment in about 90 minutes, yet he's "stuck" downtown.

I also saw it at the movies when it came out. A very realistic picture of the Soho vibe during the 1980s. Artist, eccentrics, weirdos, club denizens, and the more normal people somehow managing to deal with all the hubbub.

My favorite scene/line from the film; also, the story of my life.

It would be better as a Spike Lee “joint”.

The one lesson of the movie is... when contemplating a casual romantic encounter, don't look at their dermatological picture book of horrific disfiguring burns

Hilarious movie. Comedic masterpiece.

Who doesn't want to be imprisoned in a life sized papier-mâché sculpture?
"It reminds me of that Edvard Munch painting... Was it The Shriek?"
- "The Scream."
- "Right."

R6 reminds me of the Kate & Allie episode where Kate is stranded at Columbia U and has no money to get back to Greenwich Village and the whole episode is her crying and bonding with the homeless people over it. Its like a 2 hour walk. A bit of a hike but perfectly doable.

Yes, it's quite good. Although it may not be very realistic (In addition to walking as an option, he probably could have found a stranger willing to give him change for the subway), it taps into that fear of being stranded some place rather terrifying.
Btw, were people still taking Seconal in 1985?
