The book sucks. The movie is so much better. It's not a popular opinion but I'm too old to care.

R6 I love the movie. I've seen it hundreds of times and hate that it's not on streaming. Classic 80's youthful ennui.

R4 I LOVE The Secret History!

R1 the movie isn't disturbing compared to the book. In the book there's a part where he induces rats to chew through a honkers stomach, killing her.

Honkers, new boy? Do better.

That said, I love Less that Zero. But I've never read the book. Hell, I didn't even know there was one.

And I loved The Secret History. I read it when it was brand spankin' new. But sadly, nothing else she wrote ever measured up to it.

I ADORED Jami Gertz as Blair. Loved the club scenes, it was SO like my real life. And now that bitch Jami is worth $8 BILLION (good for her!)

I like Bret Easton Ellis on film more than his actual books. I find his writing is trying too hard to be shocking and dark. I also liked the movie adaptation of "The Rules of Attraction", as it was very similar to my college life at the time.

And you're surprised? Ellis’s books are one-note, filled with narcissists and narcissist-adjacent characters. I like the movie, though.
