Norman Mailer was a short, physically-abusive little-dick misogynist asshole.

As many men were of that era.

There were some good men of that time - but a lot of short-tempered, alcoholic, racist assholes, which was more of the norm. Did I forget homophobic?

As much as we complain about civility today - there was no 'golden era' of it. And thankfully we have come a long way in 50 years.
