And when somebody else retorted: “Just sitting and waiting for the day that you really do some styling on him and not just copy past straight out the runway,” Julia replied: “Oh, thank you, unanalyzed psyche, for your indepth knowledge of fashion, and deep understanding of Pedro’s custom looks and the inner workings of how the fashion industry works. I’d be absolutely lost without your insights.”
For reference, Julie first began dressing Pedro soon after The Last of Us premiered back in 2023, which, as you probably know, is when his public profile began to really skyrocket.
Prior to this, she was primarily known for styling editorial shoots and runway shows, and despite some criticism from naysayers, it’s undeniable that Julie’s styling has played a huge part in establishing Pedro as the Hollywood heartthrob that he now is.
And she alluded to her love of switching up traditional menswear tropes in a tweet that seemingly referenced Pedro’s red carpet fashion two years ago, where she wrote: “I’m not a celebrity stylist. I just enjoy shaking up the internet for people.”
However, on Friday, Julie confirmed to GQ that she and Pedro sadly parted ways after Cannes, which was in May.
And while Julie left her role as Pedro’s stylist just weeks after she called out the online backlash that she receives for Pedro’s looks, she did not suggest that this was in any way the reason behind their professional separation.
“I’m a storyteller, so I told a story about how men of a certain age can still be seen as sexy. After Cannes was a good time to part ways,” she told the publication.
GQ also confirmed that since late June, Jamie Mizrahi has been Pedro’s stylist — including dressing him for his Eddington and The Fantastic Four: First Steps press tours.
