Teenager dies after falling into a meat grinder at food processing factory in California

I don't get how this is allowed to happen.

You even hear about people being trapped cleaning in large ovens which are turned on.

Aren't there safety procedures in place so that it would be impossible to happen. Like disconnecting all power from the machine externally so that in no way could be turned on accidentally and having people there keeping guard? I am completely incredulous when I hear about such horror stories.

by Anonymousreply 46July 16, 2025 12:54 PM

Oh gross.

Where is the link, OP?

by Anonymousreply 1July 15, 2025 12:02 PM

Dead teen.

No loss.

Next.

by Anonymousreply 2July 15, 2025 12:53 PM

But is 19 a teen teen?

by Anonymousreply 5July 15, 2025 1:11 PM

That’s a horrifying way to go. How does a machine just turn on like that? Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 6July 15, 2025 1:50 PM

Pix or it didn’t happen.

by Anonymousreply 7July 15, 2025 7:24 PM

Wow, what a final destination way to go. He was trying to turn it off... super sad

by Anonymousreply 8July 15, 2025 7:26 PM

I wonder if this teen was hired because ICE rounded up more experienced/older workers?

by Anonymousreply 9July 15, 2025 7:31 PM

Mexican -> gang -> murder

by Anonymousreply 10July 15, 2025 7:38 PM

FUCK YOU, R2!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 11July 15, 2025 9:13 PM

R11 we ALL know he was way too old for your tastes.

by Anonymousreply 12July 15, 2025 9:15 PM

Expect a lot more of this in the near future

by Anonymousreply 13July 15, 2025 9:25 PM

Some factories actively discourage turning off machinery during cleaning. They claim loss of productivity and extra cleaning regulations.

by Anonymousreply 14July 15, 2025 9:32 PM

Also the large baking ovens and furnaces that need to be cleaned and nobody knows anybody is in there. And they can't get out if the door closes.

by Anonymousreply 15July 15, 2025 10:13 PM

A bit OT, but we had a girl in my high school we called meat grinder.

She had braces and sucked a lot of cocks.

by Anonymousreply 16July 15, 2025 10:31 PM

OP: Thousands of machines, grinders, wood cutters, and ovens get cleaned every single day all over the world. The number of incidents a year is extremely low BECAUSE of the safety measures you long for.

by Anonymousreply 17July 15, 2025 10:35 PM

That poor kid. Meat packing plants can be very, very dangerous. I worked in one for two years when I was young.

At my meat packing plant, there were machines that ground the meat. The de-boned meat was first put in a metal tub with wheels on the bottom, and it had a latch that connected it to the grinder. The man (this was one of those higher paying "men's jobs") would hook the latch onto a metal automatic lift that would pick up the tub, dump it in a hopper, and expel the ground meat at the bottom, whereupon the man would catch it in the tub and wheel it away to another machine that would either squirt out hamburgers or sausages.

It would have been difficult to die that way -- you would have to fall into the tub and get lifted up to the top, etc.

OTOH, I guess it would be an ingenious way to commit murder.

[quote] A bit OT, but we had a girl in my high school we called meat grinder.

That needs to be a thread.

by Anonymousreply 19July 15, 2025 11:09 PM

It’s going to need a lot more cleaning now.

by Anonymousreply 20July 15, 2025 11:12 PM

I hope they threw that batch out.

by Anonymousreply 21July 15, 2025 11:13 PM

He was cleaning it, preparing for its use the next day, so it apparently had no meat in it other than his.

by Anonymousreply 22July 15, 2025 11:16 PM

Fascinating

That’s rather a tender subject,

by Anonymousreply 25July 15, 2025 11:31 PM

That happened recently to a young woman in Canada, R15. She was a recent immigrant from India.

by Anonymousreply 26July 15, 2025 11:34 PM

He had a hot ass (that was once intact) but he couldn't live forever.

I remember that was the day they launched their curry-flavored meat product.

by Anonymousreply 28July 15, 2025 11:38 PM

Hot dogs really are made from ground up lips and assholes!

by Anonymousreply 29July 15, 2025 11:47 PM

R6 It doesn’t. And unless there was an unusually small person in area where people can be while the machine is active, someone’s got some splainin to do. If some type of maintenance or service inspection check was being done these things have to be energized in a way that no one can turn them back on through flick a switch, even a few switches. They have to be completely electrically de-energized encompassing both computers and usually manual disconnects as well.

by Anonymousreply 30July 16, 2025 12:03 AM

I worked in a supermarket deli and sliced open my finger getting some old Grandma her paper thin quarter pound of ham. I just kept going cause she was a nudge. Maybe she got hepatitis lol. "Sonny take your thumb off the scale!" As if I cared how much she was charged and I got the money, shaking my head.

by Anonymousreply 31July 16, 2025 12:12 AM

[quote]I hope they threw that batch out.

Or they can use that batch to make meat pies.

by Anonymousreply 32July 16, 2025 12:27 AM

Don't buy meat from there for at least a month!

by Anonymousreply 33July 16, 2025 12:32 AM

Vernon is an odd little city. Smack dab in the center of Los Angeles with a population of like 100 it was created just for food processing and related warehouses.

by Anonymousreply 34July 16, 2025 12:39 AM

R34, Vernon seems to be the Bermuda Triangle of packages.

by Anonymousreply 35July 16, 2025 12:54 AM

What an awful way to go. I hope it was quick.

by Anonymousreply 36July 16, 2025 1:41 AM

I only eat frozen bean and cheese burritos unless they’re Ramona’s.

by Anonymousreply 37July 16, 2025 4:30 AM

How very The Jungle.

by Anonymousreply 38July 16, 2025 5:41 AM

What was on his IPod? Meatloaf!

by Anonymousreply 39July 16, 2025 5:51 AM

More hot pies! Fresh supplies!

by Anonymousreply 40July 16, 2025 6:11 AM

Why do you keep calling him "the man?"

Did "the man" have a name? Lol.

by Anonymousreply 42July 16, 2025 7:02 AM

[quote]Did "the man" have a name? Lol.

Jack Albertson.

by Anonymousreply 43July 16, 2025 7:06 AM

The “man” is called Ground Beef Burgers 85/15.

by Anonymousreply 44July 16, 2025 7:53 AM

And people wonder why McDonalds staff refuse to service the soft serve machine. It’s a fucking death trap.

by Anonymousreply 45July 16, 2025 10:50 AM

Mr. Johnny Verbck was on his playlist
