Cuomo leads among lower-income voters - many black voters and Latinos. He has a 4-point lead among voters with incomes between $50,000 and $100,000, while he has an even bigger lead of 34 points among the lowest-income voters earning below $ 50,000.
Mamdani has set himself apart from Cuomo in the mayoral race by sharply focusing on the cost of living and economic fairness - but in reality, polls suggest Mamdani is favored by wealthier voters. White, wealthier voters. He isn’t “sticking it to the elites”, they’re putting him in power.

67 is a good age to run for Mayor… if the people like you. Which we have just demonstrated that we don’t.
Same goes for Eric Adams, age 64.
Quick back-of-an-envelope prediction, if Cuomo enters the race and Adams stays in:
Mamdami 37% Cuomo 28% Adams 20% Sliwa 15%

Andrew Cuomo is the better choice for NYC because he knows how to get the job done—he understands the city’s budget, knows how to work with agencies like the MTA and NYPD, and has a proven track record of delivering results. Unlike Mamdani, who is long on ideology but short on executive experience, Cuomo has spent his adult life confronting complex urban challenges, including homelessness. He doesn’t just talk about reform—he’s implemented it, even under intense pressure. In a city that demands competence, not experiments, Cuomo offers leadership grounded in experience, not theory.

It's not like Mamdani swept the field in the primary. He got 43.62% of the vote to Cuomo's 36.27%.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 15, 2025 12:30 PM |
R43, that was kind of my point at R19. Cuomo and Adams are so bad that although they are at just the right age (60s) to be doing this, they are losing to a 33yo “kid” with zero executive or governance experience.
I was a Brooklyn voter 2011 thru 2022, now just rubbernecking from over here in NJ. It’s a wacked-out mayoral election contest, much more than usual.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 15, 2025 12:35 PM |
Adams had experience as a crooked cop and then in minor positions in city government. He would have been on trial by now were it not for Dump stepping in and quashing the charges against him in exchange for being Dump's bitch boy and doing his bidding. Adams is now being funded by Republicans, who are paying for his campaign.
Cuomo sent senior citizens to their deaths in nursing homes during Covid, is a sexual predator and a bully who shit on NYC time and again because he had it against de Blasio. Now he wants to be mayor of NYC?
Fuck both of them. I'm all in for Mamdani.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 15, 2025 1:56 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 15, 2025 2:23 PM |
It'll be interesting to see how the vote goes.
Adams will still get a huge portion of the votes. He will get few, if any, Republican votes.
While Mamdani won the Democratic primary, 11% of the voters in NYC are Republicans. He, also, will get few, if any, Republican votes. About 13% of voters are Jewish. I don't think he's scoring big among them, either.
At the same time, I think most Republicans recognize that voting for the Republican candidate would be essentially throwing away their vote. So, who would be the lesser of evils - Cuomo.
I think it'll come down to whether Adams pulls enough votes away from Cuomo.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 15, 2025 2:27 PM |
Less than a third of registered Democrats bothered to vote in the primary. NYers need to show up or shut up.

by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 15, 2025 5:38 PM |
Nonsense, R71. "It seems," as you say, shows that it isn't a fact. Also, he is the future of politics, and others like him, and AOC, etc. Or at least one would hope--unless you prefer corrupt fossils and criminal toadies in their mid-to-late 60s like Cuomo or Adams.

Adams is pretty much tied with Sliwa for 15% each at this point. Main thing in Adams' favor is the subset of Black voters who will choose the Black candidate out of racial loyalty no matter what.

by Anonymous | reply 90 | July 16, 2025 3:00 PM |
r89 by "doing a great job" do you mean going on TV at every opportunity to blast Trump? Yes, he did that exceptionally well.
But the nursing home disaster and the lies and fraud to cover it up should have sent him to prison.
NYC turned the Javitz Center into a field hospital that remained mostly empty. The Federal government sent the Mercy hospital ship to NYC where it sat empty because he refused to accept help from Trump/Federal government. Nursing home residents were released from the overcrowded, understaffed hospitals while they were still infected and COVID spread like everyone knew it would and killed thousands of people who could have been quarantined until they were no longer infectious.
He also kept bars, stores and restaurants without outdoor seating closed for way too long. Many businesses closed down permanently and many that survived are still trying to dig themselves out of the hole Cuomo created.
Cuomo needs to get the fuck out of politics and go away.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | July 16, 2025 4:44 PM |
