Why do Dataloungers continually assert that a film will flop

You have to understand that many of the people making these predictions are still bitter about losing their jobs when the talkies came in.

I remember the eldergays predicting that Barbie and Bad Boys 4 would flop. Boy, did they have egg on their faces after both films were major hits.

It's because so many DataLoungers lost the ability to enjoy anything years ago. If everything new is an artistic and commercial failure, then they're perfectly justified in clinging to the pop culture artifacts from their past, and watching The Towering Inferno for the tenth time this year instead of engaging in anything that's actually relevant in 2025.

People have been brainwashed by social media into thinking that all their reactions to things must be turned up to 11 at all times. So, they end up hating things for reasons they can't explain.

Some of it could be preemptive in anticipation of possible invasions by rabid fans.

It's sometimes because DLers do have taste, which the Great Unwashed does not, and DLers have always had a weird bias that the excellent should also be popular. Galinda told you this is not true in that movie that flopped last year.

There is discernment, and then there is knee jerk contrarianism dressed up as discernment. The latter os much more common here than the former and will be predictably triggered by the success of female artists and stories that center minority perspectives.

Most often these days, certain DLers will use the stale, GOP-manufactured complaints of saying things are "woke," exhibit "forced diversity," and are "DEI" when predicting film failures. A tragic, curmudgeon-like refusal to embrace changing times and the increasing melting pot makeup of the population. The founding father societal structures haven't applied in a few decades, and yet, even though that lifeboat has holes and is sinking, still they depend upon it and cling. It's sad to watch this happen, but oh well.

Because DLers are generally:

A. Eldergays that hate anything current or new because it reminds them of their own mortality.

B. Clueless know-it-alls who think they are subject matter experts in every topic under the sun.

C. Miserable cunts with no joy in their lives who think shitting on someone else's enjoyment will somehow make their lives better.

D. In many cases, all of the above.
