A friend is now going through his fifth radiation treatment. Speaking with other friends, they're of the opinion that radiation is an "old fashioned" treatment that doesn't cue the problem. Today we have Radio Surgery, Cyber Knife and others choices. Has anyone had experience with radiation or the others?

Someone here must have been treated for prostate cancer.

They all died.

I had a friend at work who had the robotic surgery that was pioneered in San Diego. He was fully continent within a few hours after surgery, and was getting erections within three days. The doctor told him he could resume having sex with his wife within a week.

Radio Surgery is like a laser, zeros in on exact site. Several visits over a few weeks. Radiation affects your entire body, drains your strength. Hospitals and doctors make more money with chemo and radiation.

OP, you may want to ask on the prostate cancer subreddit on Reddit.

How... Useful. I had a biopsy on Thursday.

Biopsy results back. 12 samples, all benign. 3 show acute/chronic inflammation. Looks like I'll live.

I had radiation therapy (SBRT) last December and it was no problem. As long as you go to a facility that specializes in it (or better yet a research institute or university) then it's fine. I had no problems. That type of cancer is very very treatable now. No reason to fear.

The big lie is that anal intercourse does not cause prostate damage. Sorry, had to say it.

A cordless sawzall will clear your problem right up.

Prostate cancer?
There are trials you can sign up for. My friend works at a biotech in SD (lots of biotech there) and they've created a non-invasive drug that has cured prostate cancer in over 85% of the trial patients.
Look up federal trials - IF they are still going on with DOGE cuts!

Every one of my old Dad's friends decided against prostatectomy, and instead did monitoring/surveillance, radiation, chemo, and iirc focal, and crying.
Dad told his urologist "If it's not supposed to be there, it needs rooting out." Urologist actually exhaled, and said "That's what I was hoping you'd decide. Generally we tell patients prostate cancer is a slow growing cancer--usually; and you'd likely die of natural causes first. But in YOUR case, the care you take of your health, and longevity on your maternal side, surgery is the best option; we can manage the side effects (urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction) later. You've always reminded me of my Dad, and I want to see you bringing me homegrown tomatoes when you're 90." I was there with him, as was Mother; we agreed 100%.
Fast forward exactly 25 years: Dad had his semiannual checkup last Thursday; urologist came in BEAMING! "'A', your PSA is undetectable; no UTI, no kidney issues, and man, you look amazing! See you in 12 months."
Every single one of Dad's friends who chose other options is long dead now. And at least three of those deaths were gruesome.
