Atlantis gay cruise

Have any of you been? Did you take part in the constant public gang bangs going on on deck? Any stories?

I went on the other one - can't remember the name of it - I think Atlantis bought them. It was about 10 years ago.

It was too much gay for too long. And all of the outfits and color-matching nights. I had a lot of fun - but there are a lot of 'extra' types in our community and they're exhausting.

I would definitely go on a smaller one - 4 nights. Or a Med cruise is supposed to be very different in vibe - less partying because there are good stops you don't want to miss.

But the 7 night/8 day Carribbean or Mexico cruises? Nope. Particularly not on the massive ships Atlantis uses. Royal Caribbean is middle-budget and it shows.

The smaller cruises (1600-2000 passengers) years ago sailed on more premium cruise lines and were better. I ain't going on any of those Oasis ships like the pic posted. Too much of a good thing is too much.

by Anonymousreply 1July 11, 2025 1:56 AM

I’d rather go on a Broadway musical-themed cruise. Less house music and more Jerry Herman.

by Anonymousreply 2July 11, 2025 2:31 AM

Has anyone ever gone on one of these alone? I'm thinking of going to one for the first time?

by Anonymousreply 3July 11, 2025 2:48 AM

Ugh. That’s far too many people. It doesn’t look fun to me. But if they love it, they can have it.

by Anonymousreply 4July 11, 2025 5:35 PM

That looks nightmarish.

by Anonymousreply 5July 11, 2025 5:40 PM

sink n stink

by Anonymousreply 6July 11, 2025 6:45 PM

I heard they have a 15 drink minimum!

by Anonymousreply 7July 11, 2025 6:50 PM

[quote]It was too much gay for too long.

Damn, R1. Sounds exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 8July 11, 2025 6:53 PM

[quote] Did you take part in the constant public gang bangs going on on deck?

Wouldn’t that turn it into a ‘poop deck’?

by Anonymousreply 9July 11, 2025 6:58 PM

It’s what you want it to be.

Party all the time—Yup

Quiet with your partner —Yup

Lots of sex—yup

No sex—Yup

No, not everyone is a muscle god—I would say only a minority are. There are gays from all walks of life and everyone is very very friendly.

It’s a week to just be yourself and not have to worry about judgment about being gay. So many go alone, and you will quickly join some groups. The groups sort of form just by sitting and having dinner with someone.

There are websites asking if you want to share a cabin—can be good or bad depending on the person of course.

by Anonymousreply 10July 11, 2025 7:02 PM

Be prepared, OP.

I haven't done it but I absolutely would. Seems like a great way to have a lot of sex without having to look for it.

by Anonymousreply 12July 11, 2025 9:31 PM

I will borrow some money from friends to come!

Or I’ll make Boy Steele work triple shifts at Walmart to pay for it!

by Anonymousreply 13July 11, 2025 9:39 PM

There's been a few threads on here about cum dumps on social media posting about getting constant loads throughout the cruise. No load refused because they try to rack up the numbers as high as they can. I imagine there is no better place for a cum dump if that's your thing. Better numbers than you'd get any other way.

by Anonymousreply 14July 11, 2025 9:51 PM

I wonder what Grindr or Sniffies is like on these cruises.

by Anonymousreply 15July 11, 2025 9:54 PM

My friend went on one and said that he just kept getting fucked over and over. At a point it was just too much sex.

by Anonymousreply 16July 11, 2025 9:56 PM

The morning after a night of gay partying, is no one at breakfast or by the pool...when most of us need to hide. Its great to go gay clubbing but id hate to be around gays the next morning. Lol

by Anonymousreply 17July 11, 2025 10:42 PM

[Quote] I wonder what Grindr or Sniffies is like on these cruises.

Irrelevant. .

by Anonymousreply 18July 11, 2025 10:52 PM

The smell must be insane.

by Anonymousreply 19July 11, 2025 11:10 PM

I wonder how they get a few week’s of drugs on board.

by Anonymousreply 20July 11, 2025 11:11 PM

🍑 🍑 🍑, r20

by Anonymousreply 21July 11, 2025 11:12 PM

"Scene" definitely to be avoided.

by Anonymousreply 22July 11, 2025 11:21 PM

R11 - god that looked awful - everyone trying hard to fit in and be outrageous.

by Anonymousreply 23July 11, 2025 11:27 PM

Ooh, the basic bitch boat, sign me up….

by Anonymousreply 24July 11, 2025 11:30 PM

I would never go on a gay cruise - my wife won't let me!

by Anonymousreply 25July 11, 2025 11:33 PM

I've done nine or ten -Mexico, Alaska, and Baltic, on Celebrity, Holland America, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. It's actually a very relaxing vacation. Sure, there are some outrageous parties -but you don't have to attend them if you're not interested. You can get laid pretty much anytime you're in the mood. If you want peace and quiet you can grab a quiet lounge chair on deck. It's not that different from any other cruise -just more hot guys and more flesh showing around the pool.

by Anonymousreply 26July 11, 2025 11:40 PM

It’s not always like the picture at OP? Because that is a lot.

by Anonymousreply 27July 11, 2025 11:47 PM

OP's picture is on one of Royal Caribbean's mega-ships. It's like that on every cruise. If you don't want the crowds, choose a cruise on a smaller ship, like one of their Virgin cruises.

by Anonymousreply 28July 11, 2025 11:50 PM

So packed with people. What would they all do in a Titanic situation?

by Anonymousreply 29July 12, 2025 2:02 AM

Drown with poppers headaches

by Anonymousreply 30July 12, 2025 2:03 AM

An acquaintance said he came upon a couple with tons of drugs. They said they had to use it up before they docked.

So, over two days, they used it all up, and had tons of sex with tons of guys

by Anonymousreply 31July 12, 2025 2:34 AM

I’ve been on three of them. The Caribbean and Mexico ones are full of young, stupid boys sometimes four to an inside cabin. Everybody is drunk all the time except, presumably, the Friends of Bill, who have meetings every hour.

The Alaska one was nice, but the crowd skewed way older. The median age was probably sixty and it was mostly couples. The Baltic Sea gay cruise was *maybe* a quarter Americans, had an older crowd than the boozy Caribbean cruise, and, based on my experience, had a lot of European prudes and aspies.

The common thread in all of them is the rigid cliques that are formed even before embarking. The beautiful, muscle bound permatanned men in their 20s and 30s are the center of attention of the Atlantis staff and, therefore, all the organized events. Unless you fit that physical description, don’t go expecting a lot of sex. You will be disappointed. There are fifty normal guys chasing after every one of them and they won’t settle for another average guy. And the objects of their desire only go for each other.

There are tons of drugs. And they’re shared among the same crowd of “hot” guys. Unless you’re in that crowd, you’re out of luck unless you bring your own.

There’s always a group of overweight, feminine (Asian) guests that bitch about everything and everybody. If you do a shore excursion, pray they’re not on the same one as you — they’ll ruin it.

Upside: every lesbian I’ve met on Atlantis cruises has been cool.

Lastly, the entertainers tend to be the same on every cruise. Not the ship’s entertainers, but the tired talent that Atlantis hires.

by Anonymousreply 32July 12, 2025 2:58 AM

Didn’t Dirk Caber do too many drugs on a gay cruise and lose his mind and the authorities had to.be called?

by Anonymousreply 33July 12, 2025 2:59 AM

Someone needs to do a remake of The Poseidon Adventure but on a gay cruise

by Anonymousreply 34July 12, 2025 3:08 AM

I wonder how many of them are hotties hired to mingle with hopeful fugly/chubbies?

by Anonymousreply 35July 12, 2025 3:30 AM

Is it still easy to get laid if you're not super hot, r32?

by Anonymousreply 36July 12, 2025 3:30 AM

Excuse me folks, but isn't there an age over which this is not a viable return on investment. How old are you folks? I went to all kinds of sex parties when I was young and sexy. But it definitely petered out by 50. And I could have stopped at 45, frankly, in retrospect. Even 40. for the sex party thing. not for hot sex.

by Anonymousreply 37July 12, 2025 4:26 AM

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a gay cruise reality show.

by Anonymousreply 38July 12, 2025 4:52 AM

R26- I have NEVER gotten laid on any of the 11 Gay Cruises 🚢 I have been on.

I’m on the cruise tomorrow from Barcelona- maybe a miracle will occur and I will have some sex.

by Anonymousreply 39July 12, 2025 5:38 AM

Fuck No! Being stuck on a ship with that many drugged-up cumdumps, I'd be praying for the ship to sink in deep water.

by Anonymousreply 40July 12, 2025 8:15 AM

The bitchy fatties make good floaters in case you hit an iceberg.

by Anonymousreply 41July 12, 2025 11:39 AM

Zero judgment from me about ho'ing out -- that's a fabulous part of gay life. But, beyond that, these cruises seem like a nightmare to me... the BAD/cheesy House and techno music (it would be one thing if they had DJs with taste like Horsemeat Disco), the costume themes, the insane overcrowding. But I feel that way about circuit parties and "White" parties.

by Anonymousreply 42July 12, 2025 11:49 AM

The only thing that R32 said that I agree with is that all the lesbians you meet on gay cruises are really cool. They're the kind of lesbians who give lesbians a good name.

As for the rest -Maybe you only experience what you look for? I know from the vibe that there is drug use going on -but I've never actually seen it. I'm too old and out of shape to hang with the roided-out tanned crowd. I interact with them from time to time at the pool, and generally find them to be friendly. Not a clique-y as you might expect. As I said above, I usually get laid at least once a day (sometimes two or three -cuz I'm a whore). The secret is to get out there and be smiling and friendly to everyone, whether you find them hot or not. When you have a friendly vibe it's easier to chat guys up. And when you set your sights realistically you don't get shot down all the time.

If you're an older, average guy and you go on a gay cruise expecting to hang with and sleep with the hottest bikini-wearing party hos you're likely to be disappointed. If you aim for the guys you'd expect to sleep with at home you'll probably find all the sex you can handle.

by Anonymousreply 43July 12, 2025 4:53 PM

Love to cruise but not sure if I want to spend a week with a bunch of loud queens. Especially on a megaship.

by Anonymousreply 44July 12, 2025 5:52 PM

[quote] Love to cruise but not sure if I want to spend a week with a bunch of loud queens.

I’m very sure that I don’t. I like a diverse set of passengers. All gay is not diverse.

by Anonymousreply 45July 12, 2025 6:03 PM

Why would lesbians want to go on a cruise with hundreds of naked sweaty drugged out gays?

by Anonymousreply 46July 12, 2025 6:09 PM

R46 - I don't know but I will second the comments above that the lesbians on my gay cruise were awesome and fun. It was still only like 5% lesbians, if that.

I will say to a certain extent, the lesbians got sort of star treatment because there were so few of them. Really down to earth and always up for a laugh and a smile.

No pretension or standoffishness at all - which you cannot say the same for gay men.

I know some of them return many times on those gay cruises - they certainly looked to be enjoying themselves.

by Anonymousreply 47July 12, 2025 7:42 PM

R27- I’ve been on 11 gay cruises. That is a photo of one of the theme parties on the ship . The majority of guys don’t even attend that . I am a non scene type and always find my niche on these cruises if not any sex.

by Anonymousreply 48July 12, 2025 11:08 PM

Sounds like hell on earth on a boat from hell.

by Anonymousreply 49July 12, 2025 11:41 PM

Voyage of the Damned.

by Anonymousreply 50July 13, 2025 12:06 AM

Sounds gay, I’m not in for this one. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 51July 13, 2025 12:08 AM

VOTN seems to enjoy them. I think he’s been on several. Atlantis and RSVP.

by Anonymousreply 52July 13, 2025 12:10 AM

Could they lure a few hundred of the scene gays onto the ship and then sink it?

by Anonymousreply 53July 13, 2025 1:18 AM

Do they have a library on these ships?

by Anonymousreply 54July 13, 2025 1:21 AM

Most of the guys are read to filth multiple times a day by the bitter queens among the guests.

by Anonymousreply 55July 13, 2025 1:23 AM

I bet no one eats that buffet food on an Atlantis or RSVP cruise.

by Anonymousreply 56July 13, 2025 1:26 AM

Do the party boys block the plumbing when they douche their holes in the showers rather than the flushable toilets?

by Anonymousreply 57July 13, 2025 1:29 AM

To the ones replying and saying they go on these cruises and don't have sex and avoid the big events, what on Earth do you do that makes them special then? Why not go on a different cruise and talk to randoms and relax if you're not going to hook up or attend those big parties? That's a lot of gay drama for no benefit it seems to me.

by Anonymousreply 58July 13, 2025 1:40 AM

Why do ibb.co links never work for me?

by Anonymousreply 59July 13, 2025 2:06 AM

R52 - I'm r2 - yes, that's the name RSVP cruises was the other gay cruise line and that's the one I went on.

RSVP was smaller ships and a slightly older crowd - but it looks like they don't do any cruises anymore (from their website). Atlantis bought them and killed the brand.

For me, Atlantis cruises are too large, on less premium ships, too many scene queens, and just something I wouldn't consider. Yes - I know not everyone is like that or even the majority.

Last item - the one thing people fail to mention is that gay cruises are often TWICE the price of the same cruise that's not a gay cruise. There's a 75 to 100% premium to go on a gay cruise.

by Anonymousreply 60July 13, 2025 3:41 PM

R60 what about Pied Piper Cruises? They don’t charter the entire cruise, but they have groups that book cruises on ships. It keeps the price down.

by Anonymousreply 61July 13, 2025 4:43 PM

What is the justification, if any, for the increased prices?

by Anonymousreply 62July 13, 2025 4:52 PM

R62 maybe because they have the entire ship to themselves and they can act freely; the entertainment is geared towards the LGB audience.

by Anonymousreply 63July 13, 2025 4:55 PM

R61 - I've never been on one, but that seems to have more of an appeal. You have a group of gays/lesbians on a ship, so there's community and still manageable but you're able to escape as well. I think that would be fun.

R62 - Atlantis books the entire ship - they have to buy and sell all the rooms, so there's marketing costs, operational costs, salaries. Plus the entertainment is usually gay-oriented and of higher 'quality' than a regular cruise.

The surcharge is literally how they make their money as a company, which is understandable. Just saying - they're not cheap cruises by any means.

by Anonymousreply 64July 13, 2025 4:55 PM

It costs more to throw a decent party, I see.

by Anonymousreply 65July 13, 2025 5:02 PM

Does higher quality entertainment just mean lots of dance parties hosted by people from RPDR?

by Anonymousreply 66July 13, 2025 5:10 PM

I just tried to compare prices on their Halloween Virgin cruise - surprisingly this time it doesn't look so vastly different in price. A bit more but not like it used to.

I wonder if they're able to negotiate better pricing now.

Two things are true on these gay cruises: 1) the staff FIGHT to be booked to work these cruises. Gays tip well and they can make a lot of money - plus it's so much more fun than a regular cruise.

2) Cruise lines make serious $$$ in alcohol and speciality restaurant sales. I wouldn't be surprised if their liquor sales for the 1 week cruise is 3 to 4x a regular cruise.

Gay men just spend more money and tip well. I bet Atlantis has factored this in with negotiating room costs now.

Now - would I be on a boat in the Caribbean the last week of October? Hell no - not far enough time out of Hurricane season for me.

by Anonymousreply 67July 13, 2025 5:14 PM

So for how many hours do they just stand on the deck there in the scorching sun?

by Anonymousreply 68July 13, 2025 5:20 PM

From the pictures and some DL descriptions, it would be my version of hell.

by Anonymousreply 69July 13, 2025 5:21 PM

R68 - that looks like the afternoon daily tea dances - so a couple of hours. You can fit 5500 people on that boat - which is just too much for me.

But that ship is massive so you can easily escape - the parties are just one part of the cruise - there are tons of other activities.

I checked the Feb cruise on Symphony of the Seas - and this one is priced at 60-70% more than similar cruise on the same ship the following week. So I guess it depends on the cruise season how much their prices are going to be.

by Anonymousreply 70July 13, 2025 5:34 PM

Those gross skanks spread everywhere R70, it might be harder to escape them than you think.

by Anonymousreply 71July 13, 2025 6:10 PM

I am on an Atlantis events cruise right now on Virgin voyages Scarlet lady. Unfortunately I think the ship is kind of a dump. My room is crap. I went to the bon voyage party on the pool deck earlier and I think a hot guy was cruising me. He had a big build looked masculine, but unfortunately, he had lots of tattoos– but some people find tattoos hot. Nevertheless, it was still flattering.

by Anonymousreply 72July 13, 2025 6:19 PM

The picture at OP resembles a fucking nightmare. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 73July 13, 2025 6:31 PM

R11 that's the best advertisement for a cruise ever! Looks like they took the video down. I've got my speedo packed. I'll watch all the hot shallow boring to talk to hot guys for a few hours then think of them when I'm with the pudgy Asians who actually are probably better in bed.

by Anonymousreply 74July 13, 2025 6:41 PM

The video at R11 supports my assertion. Brainless fucking twinks. Bleh.

by Anonymousreply 75July 13, 2025 6:50 PM

The other thing is that the cruises have a LOT of repeat customers - the suites and upper end rooms sell out within a week or two of announcement.

Many of these guys know each other from previous cruises and book together. It's a whole scene. Not the majority of a boat, obviously, but I know of several guys who go on 3+ of these cruises a year and meet up with guys they met on previous cruises.

You can meet a lot of people on these cruises, which is fun.

In my experience, your cruise experience really does depend on who you're able to make friends with and overall experience. The gay cruises were a lot easier to find 'your people' obviously.

by Anonymousreply 76July 13, 2025 7:05 PM

OP- Your photo shows a

SPRAWLING SEA 🌊 OF HARDCORE SCENE QUEENS 🫅

by Anonymousreply 77July 13, 2025 7:27 PM

R11- that party is all white therefore it’s racist therefore it’s filled with people expressing their white privilege

Seriously- NONE of these queens are hot.

by Anonymousreply 78July 13, 2025 7:30 PM

Some of you are being willfully obtuse. The guys who go on a gay cruise are not all alike. Atlantis freely admits that it picks and chooses the pictures that they advertise based on how hot the guys are and how much fun it looks like they're having. Why not? It's a business.

Much as I love gay cruises, I would NEVER go on one of those mega ships. Gay or straight, that's too many people on a ship that will always feel crowded. I'm not a partier, but I like to do a walk-through at a few -just for the eye candy. Then I go to the ship's spa and hit the steam or the therapy pool. Lots of guys there like me who can't handle the decibels up on deck. Like any other cruise, if you just go where you like and do the things you enjoy you'll meet up with like-minded people. Those deck parties are only 90 min. and easily avoided if you don't like them. The late-night parties are late night. I'm in bed and never hear a thing. I'm not a druggie, and I never see anything going on other than the odd gummy or vape.

So, what else is there? All the usual stuff on a cruise: games, dancing, life shows, bands, comedy, food, shore excursions, etc.

Atlantis used to charge more of a premium for their cruises, but as the company has grown and become more profitable, their prices aren't much different from the cruise brochure prices. I've looked at the other companies, and they charge a shitload more, so I just can't afford them. I tried a couple of gay-group cruises, but didn't enjoy them. Frankly, I enjoy getting laid on cruises, and with the small group (often couples) there just aren't the choices/chances that you'll click with someone. I've had far better luck on straight cruises.

Judging what a gay cruise is like based on a party photo is just stupid.

by Anonymousreply 79July 13, 2025 8:02 PM

I’d rather ride the Datalounger up in Alaska.

by Anonymousreply 80July 13, 2025 8:04 PM

R80 that's true.

I think most people should know - the average age of an Atlantis cruise passenger is mid-40s to almost 50.

There are some younger gays - but I didn't recall seeing a lot under 30.

But it's bizarre that Atlantis continues to market their product always using the same very buff, speedo-wearing mid to late 30 somethings. They have said time and again that it doesn't reflect their passenger profile - yet they still do it.

by Anonymousreply 81July 13, 2025 8:09 PM

the palace is not visible in those 4. it is visible on google maps but still under construction.

by Anonymousreply 82July 13, 2025 8:13 PM

I’m not a big party guy but I had a very fun time on the three Atlantis cruises I went on (last one in 2013). I’d definitely consider going on one again even though I am closing in on 60

by Anonymousreply 83July 13, 2025 8:29 PM

have any 60 year old men gone on one in their 60s? Please report.

by Anonymousreply 84July 13, 2025 8:30 PM

R81, would you flock to a cruise that was advertised with pictures of middle-aged, overweight men?

by Anonymousreply 85July 13, 2025 8:39 PM

People on a gay cruise on the west coast, I think it was last year, were posting videos on social media. The videos, definitely unintentionally, were the stuff of nightmares. A mob of unattractive people shrieking, wearing skimpy, inappropriate clothing, trying to act like strippers and speaking with grating affectation. I'm sure there are attractive people, but they don't make up for the rest.

by Anonymousreply 86July 13, 2025 8:53 PM

R85 - all ranges should be displayed - just like every travel company. But when below is your #2 question in your FAQs on your website - then you may need to rethink. They even state that they're just marketing, which is a really dumb excuse. You CAN use different images and rotate them or even serve different images to different customers really easily with digital marketing nowadays.

FAQ#2: Do I have to have a great body to fit in on an Atlantis vacation?

Very funny. Seriously, while we have some great bodies in our brochure and website (remember it IS marketing!), Atlantis is really all about being yourself and feeling great about who you are. Whatever shape you're in, you're going to feel right at home on Atlantis. We promise.

(It's interesting to note that they have to say you will feel at home, because that's not the image they are vigorously portraying).

by Anonymousreply 87July 13, 2025 9:03 PM

I was a regular 30-20 years ago when it was fun before it got too big and too too everything. It was very much a family then.

BTW Randy Thomas from the team died suddenly last week if you knew him.

by Anonymousreply 88July 13, 2025 9:12 PM

It seems like a nightmare to be forced to spend time with people you’ve already had sex with.

by Anonymousreply 89July 13, 2025 9:45 PM

[quote] the average age of an Atlantis cruise passenger is mid-40s to almost 50.

And so is the average lifespan.

by Anonymousreply 90July 13, 2025 9:46 PM

[quote] I wonder what Grindr or Sniffies is like on these cruises.

Probably maxes out at a 15 meter radius from your phone, R15.

by Anonymousreply 91July 14, 2025 2:45 AM

“Go to the other side of the ship, babe, it’s a whole new grid!”
