Dean Cain Worries James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Is Just Too “Woke”
A former Superman is throwing some culture war kryptonite at James Gunn‘s new film.
Dean Cain — who played the iconic superhero in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman — took issue with Gunn’s recent comments (below) suggesting that his new Superman is an allegory for immigration about “about politics.” The film has also reportedly used the phrase “truth, justice and the human way” in product marketing instead of the Superman’s best-known motto of fighting for “truth, justice and the American way.”

Speaking to TMZ, Cain pointed out Fox News host Jesse Watters’ joke that Superman’s cape should now have on it “MS-13” — the name of a Salvadoran gang that’s designated as a foreign terrorist organization — and that the host makes “great political points.”
“How woke is Hollywood going to make this character?” Cain asked. “How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters to exist for the times?”
Continued Cain: “For Superman, it was ‘truth, justice in the American way.’ Well, they dropped that … I don’t think is a great idea. I think if you want to create a new character, go ahead and do that. But for me, Superman has always stood for ‘truth, justice, and the American way’ — and the American way is tremendously immigrant friendly. But there are rules. You can’t come in saying, ‘I want to get rid of all the rules in America because I wanted to be more like Somalia.’ Well, that doesn’t work, because you had to leave Somalia to come here — so it doesn’t make any sense. If people are coming for economic opportunity, let’s take a look at your government and why you don’t have that economic opportunity … And there have to be limits, because we can’t have everybody here in the United States … our society will will fail.” Cain reportedly added that Gunn’s comments weren’t necessary because, “We know Superman is an immigrant — he’s a freaking alien.”

Well, Dean Cain, it's "Truth, Justice, and the American Way," not "Truth, Justice in the American Way."
Still, it should remain "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" and not "the human way" because the "American way" is about truth, justice, fairness, kindness, and standing up for all those who are bullied and cannot stand up for themselves. In other words, it would mean a Big, Fat "F*ck You!" to Dean Cain, to his fellow MAGAts, and to that racist, sexist, irresponsible imbecile in the White House that he and they support.

It’s foolish of these MAGAt types to take on popular culture like this. “Superman” looks to be having an enormous opening weekend, racking up huge grosses worldwide. This either means Fox News drops the ‘woke Superman’ shit or risk leaving their viewers with the idea that it ‘s the very wokeness is what the public is lapping up.
In fact the movie has an earnestness and idealism people are hungry for, and the villains are the thinly disguised villains we have in real life. It’s simplistic but true — we feel we’re being held hostage by malign thugs, and long for a charismatic ‘hero’ to help us rid the world of these pigs.
“Superman” couldn’t be more timely or more needed as entertainment.

I am so sick of these coddled, lazy conservative actors who seem to think the world should be handed to them on a silver platter while their colleagues and peers work for it day and and day out and somehow not complaining that they're not getting work because they're woke/liberal/progressive. Craig T. Nelson bitched endlessly about "Hollywood bias"... until Jane Fonda(!) hired him for [italic]Grace and Frankie[/italic] (and ewww, she did it even knowing she would have to kiss that slob), James Woods and Kevin Sorbo can't stop running their mouths, and man-in-sky help us relieve the insufferable Jim Caviezel... yeah, we can spare the wood in his case!

115 million is down from this morning's 130 to 150 million estimates. That seems too low to me based on W and T, but I guess Friday morning numbers weren't as strong as Thursday might have suggested.
Anyway. I find it grimly hilarious how people fight online about these numbers while the world burns. Superman's success or failure wont mean anything in a week.

Actually, the future of humanity depends on it. Do we reject human kindness and embrace hate? Or do we prove that kindness is our greatest superpower and can win overall?

R53, it’s the highest Friday opening of the year. The studio knew to hedge so they only predicted a $100M opening. If it goes over $115M domestic opening, the studio will be very happy. WW should be over $200M. It’s a great start.
