So regal. So beautiful.

An American who won't embarrass us abroad.

I liked her as Morticia.

The Grifters, no question. Another one of my all-time favorite movies.

I loved her as Delores in Crimes and Misdemeanors. You understand her hysteria. You feel for her. She just wanted to be loved.

A handsome woman.

Well deserved Oscar. My favorite is a little movie called Agnes Browne which, I think, she also directed. It's pretty much disappeared but she was wonderful in it.

She was great in Merchant Ivory's The Golden Bowl.

P-P-Permanent damage R4! One of my favorite movies too.

Wasn't she in cahoots with (or at the very least, kept quiet about) Jack Nicholson, Roman Polanski and underage girls?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 10, 2025 7:51 PM |
R10 she caught Polanski in the act and was going to be a witness for the prosecution before he fled.

Although I love many of her performances, my favorite is her role in "Enemies....a Love Story." In fact I love that movie in general.

Loved her in Lonesome Dove.

I really liked her in Gardens Of Stone - with James Caan - she played some sort of news journalist/reporter. The movie was kinda slow but anything she is in I watch. She was still attractive and I've always liked her style. Anjelica reminds me of my mother when she was young - she was quite pretty and had dark hair like Anjelica but not as striking in appearance. Time and gravity take their toll on the best of us regardless of genes or lifestyle.

She is very classy and has wonderful elocution. A great actress and cool lady.. The Grifters and Prizzi's Honor are both classics- I will generally see anything that she is in-
Someone trashed her here the other day in that Riding The Bus with My Sister thread and said her 2 books were bad- They were NOT. They were great! Really well done and not trashy- but still dishy.
Oddly enough I did not know that she directed that shitfest TV movie! I will give the person who trashed her credit, he was correct- She said not one word about that film in her books- and she touched on EVERYTHING. So I do believe that the press was not allowed to ask her about it on her book tour.
The parts in the book about her husband's death were heartbreaking. He seemed like a cool artist~

R16 I think I saw her book on Audible. She narrates it herself. Did you listen to it or read it?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 11, 2025 5:02 PM |
R17- I read it. I like old school books.

I just rewatched Prizzi’s Honor this week. She was fantastic. Well deserved Oscar. I bet Oprah still hates her for winning.

I sent her a bag of oranges.

I LOVE her in The Witches! It was a staple at our house growing up!

Houston, we have a problem.

She was fun in SMASH but I read recently that she didn't enjoy doing it.

Watching The Grifters on Pluto. I had forgotten how good this is. Also, the small part by Gaillard Sartain...(chef's kiss).

She is a goddess of the silver screen. I wonder why she doesn't have a bigger gay following.

R25 Why would she have a bigger gay following?

The Dead

R24 - Thanks! I watch stuff on Pluto and have added The Grifters to my watch list. The blond wig Anjelica wears is not very flattering but she could be bald and the movie wouldn't loose a bit intensity.

I always liked her as an actress & her droll delivery was perfect for the Addams Family...but I viewed in her a different light after her book. I thought dishing on Penny Marshall the way she did, who seemed like a sad and probably mentally ill person, was kind of tacky. Marshall likely considered her a friend and for her to talk shit about her the way she did made Anjelica seem not so cool after all.

What did she say? They were supposed to be pretty good pals

Another vote for The Grifters.
