Gays We Don't Claim: Trump Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
This salty billionaire queen is a fixture on the Sunday chat show circuit, known as much for his pursed-lip zingers as he is for his utterly heartless views on poor people and the economy.
He's the second openly-gay person confirmed to a cabinet post, but the gays don't claim this one and his personal life never comes up. Trump probably doesn't even know about it.
Any thoughts on Barry Bostwick's evil twin?

Well, he blacked Elon's eye, so there's that. He's still deplorable, yet funny for kicking his ass and then giving him two snaps up!

Barry Bostwick is a good comparison but he was also giving Tim Gunn.

I suspect that DL has more than a few Scott Bessents on here.

After reading DL I have become convinced beyond a doubt that most bad people are gay or in the closet gay. I never thought that before DL but DL members constantly pointing that out in time that he must be gay has convinced me,

Apparently shame on him for not subscribing to the Queer, Inc. talking points? I guess I don't have a problem with him.

You don't have a problem with someone who spends his days lying to defend Trump's bullshit?

R12 do you believe in democracy where the winners who got the most votes, won the house the senate and the White House now run things and the losers don’t.
Or do you favor a different kind of democracy where the losers run things all the time which does not sound like democracy at all.
Winners run things the losers post on DL or similar, and whine,

Win or whine those are the two choices. They won we whine. And are a part of a party getting smaller and smaller and less popular every week.
Good times are not here again and they may not be coming any time soon.

Q- mom what were the democrats like when you were a child
A- who cares we now have the GOP, the Greens, the American Party. Don’t worry about old history. Study something important.

Trump suck up Bessent lies that manufacturers will and are absorbing tariff increases.

r19, according to the NYT today, manufacturers ARE eating tariff costs for the moment. That may change, but he's not lying there.

Sorry, I saw that in the WashPo, not NYT. "The Trump administration’s tariffs are hitting companies that do business in the United States. But prices haven’t reflected them yet in many cases." The example they lead with is automobiles.

So much money, such cheap veneers.
I didn’t think of him as gay, because he’s repulsive, but I guess the speech defects I pinned upon bad fake teeth is a suppressed gay accent.

"Nice looking, very smart , handles the hostile press well, "
There are no members of the hostile press in Trump's court. He got rid of them all and filled it with a bunch of toadies, lackies and ass-kissing sycophants.

I'm happy to claim him. It's a sign of progress. He mentioned his husband and their children in his confirmation hearing. He' tried to put what damper he can on some of the tariff and Fed Chair stuff. He's probably the most country club/business oriented Republican in the Trump orbit, which is tough place to be but worth doing. I hope he manages to survive and make what difference he can around the edges. Having in the cabinet doubtless puts some damper on the anti-gay (though not anti-trans) rhetoric that many would love to be spouting.

R27 I’d rather regress and call out b-Ass-Ant* as a “house fag”.

R27, there may not be anti-gay rhetoric to his face, but if you think there isn't any the minute his back is turned or when he leaves the room, you are hopelessly naive.
I suppose he's less odious than Richard Grennell, but that's a very low bar. Bessent's "let them eat cake" air is not attractive.

R27, his presence in the Cabinet has not put a "damper on the anti-gay...rhetoric." Witness the assault on DEI, gay-themed books in school libraries, and the continued defense of "religious liberty" at the expense of gay rights. But, hey...Scott, his husband, and their children have millions to provide immunity from anti-gay policies. What happens when two middle class gay men next apply for a marriage license in a very conservative state and the public official whose duty is to issue such documents refuses, because same-sex marriage conflicts with his/her religious beliefs? Can that couple afford a lengthy court case? And if their case would wind its way all the way to the SCOTUS, will that Court rule in favor of them with the Trump-appointed justices on it?
Maybe Scott is like Nic Grenell, and considers himself a "normal gay." To me, he's a man with little imagination.
Whether he's gay or straight, Scott Bessent has little, if any, trouble supporting policies that have ended US aid to a plethora of programs at home and abroad that provided ordinary people with economic and medical help. Millions will lose health coverage because of the Administration's policies Bessent is part of.
Most economists disagree with Bessent and believe tariffs will have a devastating effect not only on the American economy but on the world economy too.
And while companies may be eating those tariffs now, make no mistake. The consumer will soon be paying higher prices for goods.
