trump’s tariffs deals and bluffs are all fake buffoonery like we possibly knew

by Anonymousreply 48July 7, 2025 2:20 AM

Unfortunately, this nightmare is all too real for the rest of us.

by Anonymousreply 1July 6, 2025 2:42 AM

Right, but to the head of state it’s simply a game

by Anonymousreply 2July 6, 2025 2:45 AM

The only two words that come to mind are: like, duh.

by Anonymousreply 3July 6, 2025 2:52 AM

But the one thing I want to know is, are the tariffs starting Wednesday or not? Don't care about his theatrics, what's the reality?

by Anonymousreply 4July 6, 2025 2:59 AM

The reality is he's stealing billions from our treasury while throwing massive fireworks displays of shiny objects, lies, and fake news.

by Anonymousreply 5July 6, 2025 3:02 AM

Of course it’s all fake. He’s a con man. Actually doing something is hard work and beyond his capacity.

by Anonymousreply 6July 6, 2025 3:20 AM

r4, in other words, we won't know, but likely, he'll change his mind

by Anonymousreply 7July 6, 2025 3:20 AM

Someone on BBC said of all the countries he's threatened, only a couple have approached him with a 'deal'.

by Anonymousreply 8July 6, 2025 6:09 AM

Not sure what you understood, R8, but only two deals with two separate countries have been made while negotiations with other countries are still ongoing.

by Anonymousreply 9July 6, 2025 6:15 AM

Yes, it's all a "fake" as in tariff to threats are a negotiations tactic. Trump wants new trade deals and he uses the threat of tariffs as a lever. Tariffs are not the end goal, but a means. They may not be a very effective tactic and they may not achieve much of what he wants, but they are simply a tactic. It's pretty obvious.

by Anonymousreply 10July 6, 2025 6:18 AM

Whatever it is, it’s fucking with the economy and stock market. It’s no bueno. Let his orange cosplaying ass, piss on Melania’s face, not our fucking 401Ks.

by Anonymousreply 11July 6, 2025 6:27 AM

The S&P 500 is at all time highs, r11, so your 401K is fine. The problem is over-reaction,.

by Anonymousreply 17July 6, 2025 11:41 AM

The DTs still thinks he's on The Apprentice.

by Anonymousreply 18July 6, 2025 11:59 AM

[quote]Yes, it's all a "fake" as in tariff to threats are a negotiations tactic.

Too bad Mr Shit for Brains can’t negotiate his way out of a paper bag. He imposes all these stupid tariffs and then "strikes a deal” with e.g. China that basically restores the status quo exactly as it was six months ago. Then he goes on twitter to announce that he’s made the greatest deal in the history of deals. Is that winning to you? Is that fifth dimensional chess?

He is a a buffoon and a laughingstock among world leaders, and he’s turning this country into a pariah state that no other country trusts or wants to do business with (except for the ones that are lining his pockets and giving him Boeing 747s).

From a Canadian professor:

[quote]It was 249 years ago, when the United States separated from the British Empire. Over the past year it has separated from the world order it built over those 249 years, and from basic sanity and decency as well. For Americans, the madness gripping their country is a catastrophe. For non-Americans, it is an accidental revolution. This Independence Day, the world is declaring its independence from the US....

[quote]One of the great ironies of history is that the triumph of Maga has led to the piecemeal destruction of everything that once made America great, and on every level. Its power derived from a reliable trade network, with logistical chains that were the wonders of the world, combined with a huge alliance network, and the greatest scientific and technological institutes in the world. It is systematically destroying all of those strengths far more thoroughly than any enemy could.

[quote]America is turning away from itself, and the rest of the world must follow. The new independence requires frankness, even brutality. There is no such thing as a deal with America any more. Canada and Mexico made one with Trump in 2018. He broke it at the first possible opportunity. Their national word is worthless. They understand only force and money, and increasingly not even those. Their military actions are more or less random, half-considered, about as deep and significant as a social media rage post. They instantly forget who helped or hurt them. All those Afghans who saved American lives a decade ago have lived to regret it, being deported, just for the spectacle of it all, back to their torturers. There is exactly no security in being their ally. If the American government declares war on something – poverty, drugs, Islamic terrorism, anti-democratic governments – you can be quite sure that whatever they’re opposed to will be much stronger by the end of the fighting.

R17 I know, you’re right. Right now. But that wasn’t the case at first. He is making a volatile market with disastrous uncertainty. Plus I just don’t like the Orange cunt at this point for being such a disrespectful human I just don’t want any aspect of him to succeed. It’s beyond the point of no return to me.

by Anonymousreply 21July 6, 2025 12:39 PM

Pretty much, it’s an insane tactic

by Anonymousreply 22July 6, 2025 1:15 PM

R21, you don't have to like him or want him to succeed, just don't make stupid decisions about your investments -as many did - because everyone is screeching and deliberately over-reacting.

by Anonymousreply 23July 6, 2025 3:23 PM

The article at r20 is a great example of screeching, hysterical, deliberate over-reaction.

by Anonymousreply 24July 6, 2025 3:24 PM

Scott Bessent on CNN this morning makes me think OP is correct. He isn't remotely believable.

by Anonymousreply 25July 6, 2025 3:30 PM

R19, my country was the first (of two) to roll over and agree to Trump's "deal". I hope our neighbours in the EU give as good as they get in these negotiations and don't roll over for Trump. But I also hope the general message of Trump's policies of the importance of retaining manufacturing capability, of not offshoring everything, of having control over supply chains, is also absorbed (which it apparently is being). These are supposedly lessons we learnt with Covid, but obviously did nothing about, even though we said we were going to.

by Anonymousreply 26July 6, 2025 3:30 PM

He did the same thing with Iran. He got rid of the deal Obama had in place (you know, it was terrible because the black man did it), and now he's basically trying to get the same deal back in place. Yes, he's an intellectual moron but what's even worse are the 75+ million American morons cheering him on.

by Anonymousreply 27July 6, 2025 3:36 PM

Pretty much

by Anonymousreply 28July 6, 2025 4:01 PM

All of this was a ruse. “Liberation Day” and the tariffs were all a giant pretense for a multi multi billion dollar insider trading grift for the man himself, his family, his friends and his cronies and henchmen. Marjorie Taylor Green made hundreds of thousands of dollars that week buying and selling stocks hours in advance of all of Trump’s various “now there’s tariffs, now there’s not” pronouncements. And she’s small potatoes. I hope to god the next time democrats control congress that they crawl as far as humanly possible up the asses of every gazillionaire who traded on insider information furnished by the White House. The size and scope of the Trump 2.0 grift is galling, and the fact that 75 fellow Americans people are A-ok with every bit of it…I’d cry if I wasn’t already disgusted to the point of apathy.

by Anonymousreply 29July 6, 2025 7:10 PM

They’ll have to hire a new DoJ first, R29.

by Anonymousreply 30July 6, 2025 7:14 PM

Your 401K is invested in a massive bubble.

by Anonymousreply 31July 6, 2025 7:30 PM

Merrick Garland's DOJ would've prosecuted these crooks!

by Anonymousreply 32July 6, 2025 7:37 PM

However you want to characterize the trade issue: Trump does not understand international trade nor does he understand tariffs.

by Anonymousreply 33July 6, 2025 7:38 PM

Manufactured to make Trump look like the Peacemaker. It’s all theatrics.

by Anonymousreply 34July 6, 2025 7:57 PM

R34 Yes, or as I call it, “The Real Househusband of the White House.” Reality TV at its worst.

r35, you hire a shitty reality TV star - you get shitty reality TV

by Anonymousreply 39July 6, 2025 8:40 PM

Well duh. Legacy and right-wing media prop this guy up as if because he’s a president, he’s knows what he’s doing.

by Anonymousreply 40July 6, 2025 8:49 PM

Stating the obvious, Dump is a mentally ill, nearly 80 year old drug addict struggling with obesity, various mental disorders and a sociopathic relationship with the world. He isn't capable of governing and isn't interested in anything other than revising his past failures into successes and hurting people who threaten his narcissistic delusions

by Anonymousreply 41July 6, 2025 8:53 PM

Duh. He just wants the leaders of other nations to kiss his fat, diaper-wearing ass.

by Anonymousreply 42July 6, 2025 9:40 PM

I just wanna know what deal he has going with those penguins.

by Anonymousreply 43July 6, 2025 10:11 PM

We know it’s fake.

It’s the maggots and the MSM that believes this shit

by Anonymousreply 44July 6, 2025 11:20 PM

Of course it's all completely a ruse. Americans, by and large are stupid, uneducated racists. We're fucked and they know it. I'm glad I'm old and only here a few more years..

by Anonymousreply 45July 6, 2025 11:26 PM

I’m very sad about this

by Anonymousreply 46July 7, 2025 12:17 AM

And, in other news, the Great Lakes are comprised of water.

by Anonymousreply 47July 7, 2025 12:23 AM

Turmp faked his own assassination so it really isn’t that surprising
