Florida man threatens to 'shoot up' McDonald's over his $5 'meal deal'

A Florida man is in jail after he called McDonald's on his own phone three times and threatened to "shoot this s— up" — all because they forgot to include his Chicken McNuggets in his order, deputies say.

Dayton Wayne Schaffer, 18, stands accused of using a two-way communication device to commit a felony and false report of a bomb or weapon of mass destruction.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd was sure to fit in as many McDonald's puns as he could in a video announcing the arrest.

"This guy acted like a McNut," Judd quipped. "So this McNut didn't get his McNuggets from McDonald's. On three different occasions, he threatens to shoot the place up. He uses all kinds of foul language… So he used his Mcphone to make a Mcthreat to McDonald's."

Employees called deputies around 1 a.m. Wednesday to report the threat. In the calls, he allegedly threatened to "shoot it up" and "shoot this s— up," a probable cause arrest affidavit said.

"McDonald's staff advised they were concerned about the threats, locking all doors, and calling the Polk County Sheriff's Office," deputies wrote.

Cops were able to tie the phone to Schaffer. They went to his home and his mother confirmed the phone belonged to him, police said. Deputies tracked Shaffer down at a buddy's house.

Post-Miranda, Shaffer admitted to making the call because they messed up his $5 meal deal.

"He claimed it was a joke and did not have any intentions of shooting anyone at McDonald's," deputies wrote.

Judd noted that when Shaffer called, the manager said if he came back, they would give him his nuggets. But that offer was met with vulgarities.

"His rant went on and his rant went on and his rant went on," said Judd.

Shaffer remained in the Polk County Jail without bond. He has a court date scheduled for Aug. 5.

They aren’t THAT good.

More like FAS r3

by Anonymousreply 4July 3, 2025 9:28 PM

Apologies, r3!! r4 was obviously meant for r2

by Anonymousreply 5July 3, 2025 9:29 PM

r4/r5 Just give it up, moron.

by Anonymousreply 6July 3, 2025 9:33 PM

It’s such an eldergay statement, but why are younger people so angry with hair-trigger responses to the slightest mistake or slight. When I was in my “angry young man” phase I might have gotten pissed off but I never resorted to threats. I’m glad my parents taught me how to take things in stride and concentrate on being kind.

Love the schadenfraude of twink potentials who let their heterosexual machismo lead them to ruin.

by Anonymousreply 8July 3, 2025 9:35 PM

Sounds like McStank.

by Anonymousreply 9July 3, 2025 9:35 PM

r8 What makes you "love" it?

by Anonymousreply 10July 3, 2025 9:35 PM

He'll reach his twink potential in jail.

by Anonymousreply 11July 3, 2025 9:36 PM

Is he a candidate for Trump's Alligator Alcatraz ?

by Anonymousreply 12July 3, 2025 9:37 PM

r7 "people so angry with hair-trigger responses to the slightest mistake or slight"

Are you familiar with DJT?

by Anonymousreply 13July 3, 2025 9:38 PM

Isn't 18 still underage in Florida? I wouldn't call an eighteen year old an adult.

by Anonymousreply 14July 3, 2025 9:38 PM

It's comforting that law enforcement officials find it appropriate to become late night comedians when discussing their arrests to the public.

by Anonymousreply 15July 3, 2025 9:39 PM

r14 Who used the word "adult?" I didn't watch the video, so maybe that's where they said that?

by Anonymousreply 16July 3, 2025 9:40 PM

r15 Why is that comforting?

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2025 9:40 PM

r14 "18...Florida man". Man implies some type of adulthood. Maybe Floridian. It would explain a lot.

by Anonymousreply 18July 3, 2025 9:44 PM

Classic FAS face

by Anonymousreply 19July 3, 2025 10:06 PM

Held without bond for 30 days - LOL. Alright tough guy - see how you like being in general lockup with the hardcore people you want to emulate.

This is truly a feel good story.

by Anonymousreply 20July 3, 2025 10:10 PM

Over chicken McNuggets...how humiliating!

by Anonymousreply 21July 3, 2025 10:18 PM

R20, what exactly are you saying? What are you wishing on an 18 year old who obviously has some mental issues who went off the rail for a minute?

by Anonymousreply 22July 3, 2025 10:19 PM

R15, Grady Judd has been trying to become a national household name with juvenile / "tough guy" / whatever-gets-me-on-TV antics for quite some time now. It's rather pathetic and beyond tiresome.

by Anonymousreply 23July 3, 2025 10:35 PM

R23 He’s on his way up the rethug ladder

He'll love prison food!

by Anonymousreply 26July 3, 2025 10:56 PM

R14, 18 is a legal adult in every part of the US.

by Anonymousreply 27July 3, 2025 10:56 PM

He should have called 911 instead.

by Anonymousreply 28July 3, 2025 10:59 PM

“Grady Judd” is a real name?!

by Anonymousreply 29July 3, 2025 11:01 PM

r29 Are you able to read the article?

by Anonymousreply 30July 3, 2025 11:03 PM

This is what Barry Keoghan would look like if he were from Florida.

by Anonymousreply 31July 3, 2025 11:03 PM

Are you able to understand a joke?

by Anonymousreply 32July 3, 2025 11:04 PM

r27 Almost, but not *every

by Anonymousreply 33July 3, 2025 11:04 PM

Thanks R33, that's so helpful.

Dick.

R14 R27. The age of majority is 18 in all but three US states. In Alabama and Nebraska, it's 19. In Mississippi , it is 21.

Bring back the draft for these pillow-soft men

by Anonymousreply 37July 3, 2025 11:40 PM

R36 Why 19 in Nebraska? Is the 18th year like an internship into manhood?

by Anonymousreply 38July 3, 2025 11:51 PM

r36 If the age of majority is 18 in 47 states, why is the legal drinking or gambling age 21 in most places? Where I live if you're 19 and over one can hit up the liquor store then buy mixers and Scratch 'n' Win tickets at the convenience store.

by Anonymousreply 39July 3, 2025 11:56 PM

Quebec it's 18.
The age of majority refers to the age at which an individual will be legally considered an adult . It is the age at which one will be subject to the full legal rights and responsibilities of an adult, including the right to vote, the right to join the military or the right to sign a contract. After reaching the age of majority, one will become fully responsible for their own actions, contractual obligations and other undertakings. Parental duties of support will also cease.
The age of majority differs from country to country. In most countries, the age of majority is 18. In the US, most states have set the age of majority at 18. However, there are a few exceptions, including:
In Alabama the age of majority is 19. This was affirmed in the case of Campbell v. Campbell.
In Nebraska, the age of majority is also 19. This is set out under §43-2101
In Mississippi, the age of majority is 21. This is codified under the Mississippi Code title 1 , S1-3-27.
It is important to note that the age of majority does not necessarily conflate with the drinking age, smoking age, driving age, voting age, age of sexual consent, marriageable age etc. These will also vary from state by state and country by country.

r46 "they didn't have McNuggets about 15 years ago"

by Anonymousreply 47July 4, 2025 12:48 AM

I can understand that the milkshake machine is always down, whatever, but no nuggets is unacceptable.

It's the sauce that makes the McNugget, dear.

His tight little Twink hole is going to be very sore after one whole month in jail.

Good Lord, McDonad's CONSTANTLY gets orders wrong. Like how hard is it to actually put the Chicken McNuggets that somebody paid for into their bag?? Apparently it's really hard because McDonald's fucks it up all the time. And I'm glad somebody called them out on their bullshit. Chick-Fil-A might be MAGA, but at least they can get an order right.
