I edit regularly on Wikipedia and the community on there has become hardcore about not allowing birthdates in biographies of living persons without reliable sources. Their rationale is that it violates the subject's privacy. However, if the birthdate has been widely-documented and there are reliable news, book, or web sources to support it, it can be included.
A lot of what qualifies as "reliable" ends up being disputed amongst editors, but, IMDb, for example, is never allowed as a reliable source because it can be altered by IMDb users. Even public birth records can be dicey because some editors will point out that you can't confirm whether or not the record is attributed to the subject of the article, or if it's just a record of someone who was born on the same day with the same name.
