Stupid Question - What is this phrase I hear from New Orleans residents?
I know it’s probably something very simple and I will feel like a complete idiot, but I’m struggling to understand what I’ve heard from quite a few residents of Louisiana, and New Orleans, specifically.
It sounds like “Vo-duh-lay” but spoken very fast and usually repeated. I’m sure it’s some bastardization of a French phrase.
Thanks in advance, poppets.

You are hearing bits of the cajun phrase “Laissez les bon temps rouler”. Let the good times roll.

Are they asking if you work for Vanderlay Industries?

OP: Could you give us the context of its usage? That is, give us a whole sentence you've heard, and/or the situation (culinary, gas station, orgy, etc.) where you've heard it.

I’ve heard it in this old furniture commercial first but I’ve heard other people use it as well. It’s only a few seconds into the video.
