The 'heroic' father who threw himself overboard to save his kid on a Disney cruise
I knew there was something "dirty in the milk" when I first read all these fawning stories of his heroism. How does a child fall off the fourth deck of a Disney cruise, which has got to be the most childproof of cruise lines? And why wasn't the brat being supervised?
Of course ...
A man and a child were rescued from the water after they went overboard a Disney Cruise Line ship Sunday afternoon. [bold]The child sat on the rail of the Disney Dream cruise ship while the man was taking a picture[/bold], according to passenger Gar Frantz, who said the man was the child's father.

I'm actually surprised they both survived.
Jumping overboard is iffy as it is. But surviving that and being in clothes - those clothes get heavy in water - and a 4 year old can't swim well (presuming he CAN swim) in an ocean with those waves.
I'm shocked he was able to reach his kid.
He's sleeping on the couch for the next month.

Didn't the cruise line have to compensate Grandpa for dropping his kid out the window?
I suppose this dad will now sue Disney saying that there was no sign reading DON'T LET YOUR BRAT SIT ON THE RAIL FOR A PICTURE, DUMBASS.

A person who sits a child on a ship’s railing should be banned for life from sailing.

I wish authorities would shut down DCL. The gouging of the public shouldn’t be allowed.

That they were able to launch a lifeboat with a crew so quickly speaks of good training. That they were able to find them in the water is almost miraculous. There’s no reference points in the ocean. Like if you spot something in the water, you’re supposed to point AND NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF IT FOR A SECOND.

Why just DCL? Why not every fucking corporation in America?
People choose to go on their cruises. No one forces them. Just stop with the nonsense.

DCL charges much more than other large cruise lines. It should be banned,

And people choose to pay. Who are you to say they shouldn't be able go on a Disney Cruise and Disney shouldn't be able to charge what they can get. It's called capitalism. It's not like Disney has a monopoly on cruises. People have a choice.

r13 What? What sense does that make? Apple charges more than Samsung. Volvo charges more than Hyundai. This local sushi place near me charges WAY more than other ones in my city. Should they all be banned? What a doofus.

Father of the Year award, right there.
"Hey, kiddo - get up on the railing so we Mommy can get a cool pic for Facebook/Instagram!!!"
Fucking brain trust!

Wouldn’t the current from the cruising ship pull the passengers’ bodies toward/under the ship? I thought that was the speculation when that young man jumped off a cruise ship and into what looked like a sea of sharks.

I don’t know how they survived. Isn’t that like going off a four story building? Seems like the screws would pull them down under it. A kid rolling off a railing would land right next to the ship you would think. Whole thing sounds Unbelievable.

No, R8, nothing was paid to the step-grandpa or any member of the family, despite them making multiple claims.
No, [R8], nothing was paid to the step-grandpa or any member of the family, despite them making multiple claims.
Are you sure about that?
This cunt got three years probation for practically tossing his non-familial child off a deck because he was too drunk to give a fuck. As were his family who didn't seem to grieve the inconvenient toddler.
They keep suing the cruise line while/when everyone who witnessed saw non-filial grandpa take a drunken stroll and deposit the child on a precarious window before she fell to her desth..
The absolute most grevious case of denial I've ever hear. And the deceased child's parents kept trying to get cash from the cruise line.

Cunt at r30, look down to r31 from your megalomaniacal high horse for a bit. (You may get dizzy, for a change.)
It's the last Google News article with the drunk grandpa's name on it.
But, please, do more research because I'd like to be proved wrong on this one.

So are people just going to take this person's story as gospel?
It sounds like this Gar Frantz (probably European, who like to pervert happy endings) just wants to paint the father in a terrible light after he was called heroic.

On the news this morning, they said there is an industry standard the railings have to be protected by 42" guard to prevent this exact thing and from people trying to commit suicide or possibly, a homicide. If this cruise ship didn't have that, they're in trouble. If they did, how the hell did this happen??
