What is your favorite Warehouse Membership Store?

I need 5 gallons of Hershey's chocolate syrup and a 64 roll of carton of Bounty paper towels.

BJ's isn't nationwide. Much of the country just has Sam's and Costco.

Sam's is closer so it's my favorite for this reason. They are very similar in my estimation.

My Fat Daughter was banned from Costco for life. There was an unfortunate incident last year in a Tempe Costco involving My Fat Daughter; her Hoveround scooter; a sample lady with a tray of Vienna sausages; and a freezer full of soup dumplings.

The settlement the McCain family reached with Costco and the sample lady required a $2 million settlement and a lifetime ban for My Fat Daughter at Costcos worldwide.

The poor sample lady was combing glass from the freezer doors out of her hair for weeks.

Whenever I drive with My Fat Daughter past a Costco, she starts screaming from the horse trailer we use to haul her around-“HEY I WANT 12 POLISH SAUSAGES AND 2 PEPPERONI PIZZAS NOW!”

I belong to both Costco and Sam's and they each have their strengths and weaknesses.

Costco is generally a nicer store and has more selection. Much of that selection, however, is high-end. At mine for example, their only half & half option is organic and ounce for ounce, considerably more expensive than Kroger. They have a vast liquor selection that I have no doubt collects dust, because a lot of it is in the $100+ a bottle range.

Their deli is far better than Sam's. Their bakery is far better than Sam's.

Sam's is surprisingly better technology wise. Their scan and go works really well. You can even scan and go liquor/beer, and they just check our ID as you walk out the door. Sam's has a better section of what I would call "human size" options of fresh food (dairy, fruit, etc.). Everything at Costco (even the fresh food) is huge. The only produce I can buy and Costco are their bananas.

My Costco is nuts 24/7. There is a line to get in at 9:30 and it is just crazy busy until they close. There is no good time to go. It is a very frustrating/stressful shopping experience. Even the gas station is a cluster fuck 24/7. Lines 4 cars deep.

My Sam's at least is FAR more low key.

Their prices are almost identical (they often carry the same products).

I prefer shopping at Sam's, but it really depends on what i need.

Costco was one of my biggest clients. They take quality and safety very seriously. Kirkland is an excellent brand.

You can shop at any Costco without worrying about wasting your money.
