EMMY Nominations will be announced 7-15-25

We're in the final stretch for voting to see who gets an Emmy nomination for the 2024-25 season. Shows which debuted between June 1, 2024 - May 31, 2025 are eligible. Unfortunately, the Emmy favorite 'The Bear' is eligible for Season 3, which premiered on June 25, 2024. I expect 'Matlock' to pick up a handful of nominations, as well.

What are your predictions ?

by Anonymousreply 131July 16, 2025 6:45 PM

My prediction: the same shitty shows will get tons of nominations despite not being that good.

Lookin' at chu, The Bear and The White Lotus.

by Anonymousreply 1June 29, 2025 9:32 PM

I’m hoping that the cast of “What We Do in the Shadows” get nominated for their final season. And I hope Hannah Einbinder wins an Emmy. Also rooting for the cast of “The Pitt.”

by Anonymousreply 2June 29, 2025 10:27 PM

Is Matlock supposed to be good? I had no idea

by Anonymousreply 3June 29, 2025 10:29 PM

Is The Bear eligible?

by Anonymousreply 4June 29, 2025 11:12 PM

R3 very good and the highest rated new show on network TV. It's a fun watch to kill an hour. Kathy Bates will probably take the Emmy for Best Dramatic Actress.

by Anonymousreply 5June 29, 2025 11:15 PM

Especially with The Last Samurai out of her way.

by Anonymousreply 6June 29, 2025 11:18 PM

Hoping for Kathy Bates, a nomination and a win. The show is good fun. Ms. Bates elevates what she has to work with,

by Anonymousreply 7June 29, 2025 11:20 PM

I would expect Walton Goggins will be up for White Lotus, and also Parker Posey (just because she was so memorably imitable). I'm curious if Sam Rockwell will be up too given his amazing monologue about sexual addiction in the one episode.

The person whom I would most want to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, but who won't be, is Phia Saban, who is superb as the gentle but doomy Queen Helaena in House of the Dragon. She steals every scene she's in.

by Anonymousreply 8June 29, 2025 11:24 PM

Shows which will get the most nominations:

The Pitt

Severance

White Lotus

The Hack

Adolescence

The Studio

by Anonymousreply 9June 29, 2025 11:28 PM

I would love to see Kathy Bates win. I would also love to see Kaitlin Olson at least get a nomination for “High Potential,” another fun hour of network TV, though I’d be shocked if the nominators included her.

by Anonymousreply 10June 29, 2025 11:30 PM

"The Hack"??

by Anonymousreply 11June 29, 2025 11:31 PM

Just an error. You knew I meant 'Hacks'

Calm the F down.

by Anonymousreply 12June 29, 2025 11:34 PM

Who is excited? I just asked a question.

Chill out, Tetchy.

by Anonymousreply 13June 29, 2025 11:37 PM

I'd be happy if they showed sone love to Tony Gilroy and Andor.

by Anonymousreply 14June 29, 2025 11:39 PM

Sci fi/Fantasy seldom gets much Emmy love unless it's on HBO and gets a huge push from them.

by Anonymousreply 15June 30, 2025 12:29 AM

I've never understood the story behind The Wire and the Emmys refusal to give it more than a couple nominations. It was an HBO show and got glowing reviews. Seemingly, HBO never mounted major Emmy campaigns for it.

TBH, I suspect it's a lot of racist bullshit. West Coast Emmy voters didn't give a fuck about a gritty East Coast show with a largely black cast. They only cared about modestly gritty east coast shows with a mostly Italian cast.

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2025 12:35 AM

I think Sam Rockwell was submitted in the supporting category because he was in too many episodes. He would have been the clear winner as guest actor but now he has competition.

by Anonymousreply 17June 30, 2025 12:52 AM

I never said that you were excited. But it was a stupid question as it was obvious what I meant.

That's what I meant.

by Anonymousreply 18June 30, 2025 1:14 AM

I hope Linda Lavin is nominated for Supporting.

by Anonymousreply 19June 30, 2025 1:26 AM

R8. Points for using the word imitable. And whom. 👏

by Anonymousreply 20June 30, 2025 1:27 AM
And I hope Hannah Einbinder wins an Emmy.

R2 after this shit season Hacks won't snag any acting nominations, let alone one for that no-talent nobody Einbiner.

by Anonymousreply 21June 30, 2025 2:25 AM

Listen up-The Pitt better win every f-ing award. Even comedy.

by Anonymousreply 22June 30, 2025 2:36 AM

R21: And you forgot nepo baby.

by Anonymousreply 23June 30, 2025 2:38 AM

It looks like the overpublicized and overhyped White Lotus will overperform and will probably pick up a few undeserving nominations (Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Nivola).

by Anonymousreply 24June 30, 2025 2:40 AM

But no wins, R24.

by Anonymousreply 25June 30, 2025 2:45 AM

I’m sorry, I watched the first five or six episodes of “Matlock” and thought it was terrible. The supporting cast was weak, and yeah, Kathy Bates does her Kathy Bates thing, but the Bride of Vengeance routine is tedious. I personally wouldn’t nominate her, but since the series seems to be popular, you guys are probably right that she will win.

“Elsbeth” is pretty lame too, but I actually watch that, enjoy seeing Broadway actors every week and I’m glad they wrote out the boring female detective sidekick.

Even in a somewhat subpar season, “White Lotus” managed to cast its own peculiar spell for an hour a week, it was head and shoulders above most things on TV this season, and it maintained its cultural relevance by being a national obsession while it was on.

“Severance” was smart and interesting too, though it dissipated some of the intriguing single-minded energy of its first season. And personally, I’d give the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama to Britt Lower, who is fantastic, and who did more with her character this season than Kathy Bates did with hers. I expect Adam Scott will get a leading nod, and that Tramell Tillman and Dichen Lachman will get supporting nominations.

by Anonymousreply 26June 30, 2025 2:50 AM

“Adolescence” will win everything in the miniseries category. And I mean everything, including technical awards. And it deserves to.

by Anonymousreply 27June 30, 2025 2:54 AM

Oh, I'm sure White Lotus will get a win or two.

And, I agree Adolescence should do well in Miniseries!

by Anonymousreply 28June 30, 2025 2:59 AM

As I stated above, I love Kathy Bates and would be happy to see her win; however, I’m also sure the real reason she would be nominated and win is because she’s a well-respected film actress and Oscar winner who’s doing a TV show. There was a TV critic whose column I used to read several years ago who often talked about how TV people have always been completely intimidated by film people, which is why movie stars almost always win their categories at the Emmys.

by Anonymousreply 29June 30, 2025 3:27 AM

^^ I should say I used to read that particular critic way back in the early aughts and things have changed a lot since then, so perhaps movie stars aren’t really the shoo-in that they used to be.

by Anonymousreply 30June 30, 2025 3:41 AM

Please no awards for the tired Hacks or The Bear.

by Anonymousreply 31June 30, 2025 3:48 AM

Other than the acting, I was underwhelmed by Adolescence. I’m not sure if there was any other miniseries in contention that was better, though.

by Anonymousreply 32June 30, 2025 3:49 AM

I’d like to see Janelle James finally win for Abbott Elementary.

by Anonymousreply 33June 30, 2025 10:33 AM

R33 James is long overdue for a win. She's one of the funniest comic actresses on TV in a very long time. She had a very strong season this year.

I forgot about 'Adolescence' - I was glued to that series, and expect the nominations to come pouring in for them.

I'm happy the obligatory 'delusional' poster hasn't invaded the thread yet. He's the one who infests just about every thread and will say, 'If you think XXX will get a nomination for XXX you're delusional'. So refreshing not to see him here - thus far.

by Anonymousreply 34June 30, 2025 11:59 AM

Honestly, someone please explain to me why THE BEAR is considered a comedy.

I enjoy watching the show, but it is not a comedy. Not by a long shot.

Is it possible that the academy has a hard time categorizing this show?

Make it make sense.

by Anonymousreply 35June 30, 2025 1:28 PM

R35 After it was nominated for its first season, there was plenty of controversy of 'The Bear' being in the comedy category. Everyone said the same thing - it's a drama, not a comedy (including me - I watched a few episodes of S1 and clicked the remote as it wasn't for me). The Academy said it's up to the network to submit the category. FX said it's a 'dark comedy' (the producers insists there's plenty of dark humor in the series), and ended up submitting it for comedy in its first season, because they felt there was 'less competition' that year. That's where it has stayed.

Here's a similar discussion on it:

by Anonymousreply 36June 30, 2025 10:27 PM

Hoping for a best supporting for Carrie Coon and possible win!

by Anonymousreply 37June 30, 2025 11:09 PM

Sadly, I don’t think James will ever win for this role. It’s network. And trophies are typically won in the first two or three years. After that, the novelty of the performance has diminished. (The exception: the very special episode(s) when the character is raped or battling cancer.)

by Anonymousreply 38June 30, 2025 11:13 PM

R37 I would love to see Coon win for either 'The Gilded Age' or 'The White Lotus' (and I think she's more deserving of the latter). However, I'm sure she will be nominated for both, and probably cancel herself out - so she will leave empty handed.

by Anonymousreply 39June 30, 2025 11:25 PM

The Gilded Age didn't air new episodes in the 24/25 TV season which ended May 30th.

Zach Cherry from Severance made it! He was terrific this season.

Don’t think all the guest nominees for The Studio were deserved. I mean, Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard? Come on. Their appearances were cute but…

by Anonymousreply 64July 15, 2025 4:14 PM

Well, Somebody, Somewhere got a little bit of recognition. It deserved more.

by Anonymousreply 65July 15, 2025 4:18 PM

They couldn’t even nominate Linda Lavin? What a fucking travesty.

Same tired nominations every year.

Glad to see Colman Domingo get a well deserved nomination

‘Andor’ Earns 14 Emmy Nominations Including Best Drama Series
One of the most critically acclaimed series of the year, in fact, the century, Tony Gilroy’s “Andor” found some Emmy love for its second and final season. Perhaps not all the recognition fans were hoping for, but a respectable amount, including a key Original Drama Series nomination.
The disappointing news was that few of the celebrated actors were nominated outside of Whitaker. Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgard, and Genevieve O’Reilly were all snubbed. O’Reilly had the most competitive category, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

by Anonymousreply 72July 15, 2025 4:46 PM

It is not Nicholas Alexander Chavez's week.

by Anonymousreply 73July 15, 2025 5:07 PM

R72 - Best to you as well, Darling.

by Anonymousreply 74July 15, 2025 5:15 PM

The television academy tends to be the laziest voting block out there.

I think actors should start pulling themselves from consideration again. Years back, John Goodman, Candace Bergen and John Larroquette were among those who took their names out of consideration after getting so many wins/or nominations. It gives a chance for others to take their spots who wouldn't normally be considered.

I love Jean Smart, but does she really need another Emmys for Hacks, especially since this season was by the far the weakest?

As for Abbott, it's the same four who keep getting nominated year after year. Lisa Ann Walter had an amazing episode this season that should have netted her a nomination. Chris Perfetti has done great work too and keeps getting snubbed year after year.

Do they go to Gold Derby and just write down the top five?

by Anonymousreply 75July 15, 2025 5:22 PM

I loves me some Severance!

Still no love for Seth Meyers.

by Anonymousreply 78July 15, 2025 6:25 PM

Poor Nacho.

He should have been nominated for his “YES, MOTHERFUCKER….YES!!!” clip alone.

by Anonymousreply 79July 15, 2025 6:40 PM

Jeff Hiller vs. Michael Urie. May the best queen win.

by Anonymousreply 80July 15, 2025 6:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 81July 15, 2025 6:54 PM

Happy for the gays Bowen Yang, Michael Urie and Cooper Koch.

by Anonymousreply 83July 15, 2025 7:06 PM

Nicholas Alexander Chavez should have been nominated that that red Speedo scene alone.

by Anonymousreply 84July 15, 2025 7:07 PM

Just noticed Colman Domingo was nominated too! Yay! Well done to him. I hope at least one of the gays win!

by Anonymousreply 85July 15, 2025 7:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 86July 15, 2025 7:11 PM
Lisa Ann Walter had an amazing episode this season that should have netted her a nomination. Chris Perfetti has done great work too and keeps getting snubbed year after year.

R75, I was just about to post the same. I think it’s a shame that Walter and Perfetti are snubbed year after year. They are both very deserving.

by Anonymousreply 87July 15, 2025 7:24 PM

I’m happy for Chloe.

I’m not a fan, but I do feel for Chavez. This must be hard.

by Anonymousreply 88July 15, 2025 7:26 PM

Why wasn't Javier Bardem nominated? He was better than Chloe imo.

by Anonymousreply 89July 15, 2025 7:28 PM

Yet, R84, he wasn’t.

BWAH HAHAHAHA HAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 90July 15, 2025 7:34 PM
I'm sad IWTV didn't get any noms.

I believe only the last half of the 2nd season was eligible and, considering IWTV got no love from the Emmys previously, this is not a surprise. They have a very unfortunate blindspot when it comes to this show. I personally think it's one of the best things that has aired over the last 2+ years—far better than some of the stuff they [italic]did[/italic] nominate.

by Anonymousreply 91July 15, 2025 7:39 PM

R89: JB was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie

by Anonymousreply 92July 15, 2025 7:40 PM

R92 Thanks. Must have missed it.

by Anonymousreply 93July 15, 2025 7:45 PM

Owen Cooper for Adolescence was a lock, and I think he has a good chance of winning.

If you haven't seen it: yes, he's as good as you heard. I tried to think of a child's performance that was just so accomplished as Owen's and had to go back to Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver.

by Anonymousreply 94July 15, 2025 8:00 PM

All the “Adolescence” love is well deserved and I’m happy with all of its acting nominations. I would’ve even added the sister, who brings heart and a bit of hope to the brutal fourth episode.

by Anonymousreply 95July 15, 2025 8:03 PM

I think Owen will win.

by Anonymousreply 96July 15, 2025 8:03 PM

IWTV?

by Anonymousreply 97July 15, 2025 8:48 PM

Wins for anything on the broadcast networks have been rare these past few years. That said, I’d be shocked if Kathy Bates doesn’t win for Matlock.

by Anonymousreply 98July 15, 2025 9:11 PM

Bowen Yang is now the most Emmy-nominated Asian performer in history.

I never watched Severance. I guess I may have to. I sincerely hope The Pitt wins BIG. I also want Colin Farrell to win because I adore him. And of course Jean Smart. I want her to be my friend.

I like Bowen. Glad he got recognized. Presumed Innocent was pretty good, but IMO Ruth Negga was the best performance. Jake got on my nerves and Peter was just average. I have seen him do much better.

The Bear people were all good. How surprised aren't you that Jamie Lee Curtis got nominated for traumatizing all of us with her Christmas Dinner portrayal. OMG it took me weeks it was SO TRIGGERING.

The vast majority of the time, the books are better.

by Anonymousreply 102July 15, 2025 10:54 PM

I was prepared to dislike JLC in The Bear but she was fine. Jon Bernthal was terrible in that episode, and I typically love Jon Bernthal. Actors Studio schtick. Even Al Pacino was pointing and laughing.

by Anonymousreply 120July 16, 2025 12:14 PM

Thrilled that Katherine LaNasa is nominated for The Pitt. She’s married to Grant Show. Bitch

And this Emmy is Noah Wyle’s.

by Anonymousreply 122July 16, 2025 12:56 PM

I think Parker Posy will lose to Carrie Coon.

She didn’t get the money scene that Carrie got.

Also she’s nuts.

by Anonymousreply 123July 16, 2025 1:29 PM

Of course they nominated Uzo for her already cancelled show. I don’t know why she’s such an Emmy darling. That slot should have gone to Bridget Everett.

I think The Bear is a good show, but I hope it gets totally shut out. IT IS NOT A COMEDY!!

Poor Julianne Moore, snubbed again.

I can't believe Jamie Leigh Curtis will be IGNORED. Bet she wins. That was the most traumatic episode on Television I have seen since 9/11.

It’s a complete travesty that Genevieve O’Reilly was snubbed.
How surprised aren't you that Jamie Lee Curtis got nominated for traumatizing all of us with her Christmas Dinner portrayal. OMG it took me weeks it was SO TRIGGERING.

JLC already won an Emmy for the infamous Christmas episode. Do catch up, dear. This new nomination is for her standalone episode in S3 when Sugar goes into labor.

She has to win again. She was passed over for her work in The Last Showgirl.

I would guess that JLC was a very close 6th place for Best Supporting Actress this year. Margaret Qualley was seventh.
