Grape Tasting

I've moved to "Wine Country" in Northern California and am surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see. Unfortunately, I can't drink wine anymore, but love to eat grapes. There must be a dozen grape varieties, mostly reds, grown on just the one vineyard I visited in years past. I'm wondering if one can taste the difference when the grapes are fresh. Do fresh Cabernet grapes taste much different than Pinots, for example? Even here, grocery stores only sell "red table grapes" or "green table grapes". Am planning on going to the winery across the street during the Fall harvest and ask if I can sample a a few different types when fresh. It would be easy enough to ride around on my e-bike and just take some. My first guess is that they all have seeds and would taste like crap.

Anyone here have experience tasting different fresh wine grapes?
