Arizona 5th graders plotted to murder boy in bathroom and make it look like suicide, police say

One of the accused students, a girl, was allegedly in a "relationship" with the victim who had cheated on her, according to the Surprise Police Department.

A group of fifth-grade students were arrested last fall over an alleged plot to murder a fellow student after being overheard discussing their plans, according to a newly released police report.

Four students at the Legacy Traditional School in Surprise, Arizona, were accused of planning to fatally stab a fellow fifth grade student and forge a suicide note to make it appear self-inflicted, according to the police report. A parent alerted the school of the plot on Oct. 1, 2024, after their child overheard the group talking about it.

The students and their parents were instructed to come back to the school the following morning for the school's investigation, per the report.

Through the investigation, it was found that one of the accused students, a girl, was allegedly in a "relationship" with the victim, a boy, who had cheated on her, according to the report. The girl hated him and wanted him dead, the report said.

During a lunch on Oct. 1, 2024, the students were involved in a conversation on how to "end him," the report said. According to interviews with the suspects, the plan involved allegedly luring the boy to a bathroom and stabbing him in the stomach.

One of the students interviewed said she had walked over while the group was discussing the plot and made jokes about it, according to the report. But the girl insisted that she was joking while the other students "started to get serious" and she began to back off as a result, the report said.

"Legacy Traditional"?? Fundy school?

by Anonymousreply 7June 27, 2025 9:32 PM

Marry her in 10 years, Donold? You'd rape her and tell her she deserved it, then deny it, then try to pay her off, then say it never happened because that child wasn't your type, then you'd be tried, convicted, and skate leaving nothing but a ruined nation in your wake.

That girl is going to have it rough - she will probably have to change schools. She did the right thing by telling her mom but she probably didn't think her mom would go to the school about it.

You can never be too safe I guess - but that girl's life is going to be hell for a loooong time.

by Anonymousreply 11June 27, 2025 9:47 PM

So 11-12 years old? I believe it.

Sounds like it, R7:

[quote]New to the Gilbert area and would like to hear from parents that have had experiences (good or bad) with Legacy Traditional Schools. I've talked with two families in the neighborhood and both have said that Legacy is too rigid and conservative for their taste and pulled their kids out. Opting for one of the other public schools in our community instead. One parent we spoke with has teacher friends that worked at Legacy and went back to teaching at non-charter schools because the Legacy runs more like a business than a school for children. The other family said that the emphasis patriotism and lack of diversity didn't feel right for their pre-teen. Also that kids that can't keep up with the accelerated learning are booted from the school after a while. According to them, this is how the school maintains its impressive scores.

* * *

[quote]My wife was a teacher at Legacy Gilbert. Legacy changed owners around 2018 and she noticed a clear shift from a focus on students and learning to maximizing profits. I think I can help summarize my wife's experiences with the school [...] Teachers are pushed to improve test scores above all else, their pay and performance reviews are based primarily on student test performance which is great for marketing but not necessarily great for learning. Students who can't keep up are not booted from the school (maybe they were in the past), my wife often had students with severe behavior problems or who were very far behind academically and passed on to the next grade anyways against her recommendations. The school is fearful of lawsuits and extremely reluctant to take a stand with parents. This results in bad behavior from students being tolerated by the administration even if it is disruptive to the classroom and stressful to the other students and teachers. I'm not talking about minor misbehavior, but screaming out loud during class, throwing things, knocking over desks, etc.

5th graders plotting a murder in disguise? Where else could they be getting the idea other than from the media, video games, movies and TV shows? These kids have access to porn and all kinds of weird violence on their phones from the time they own one and here we are. I just watched a series of trailers for upcoming horror movies, 30 minutes of decapitations, dismemberments and heads blown off, all available for anyone to see on YouTube. And then we have any 8 year old telling you to fuck off if you as much as look at them because mommy and daddy told them they're special with special rights and they shouldn't have to abide by anyone else's rules. We are fucked.

BPD mixed with a healthy dose of psychopathy at 10 years old. Plotting murder while learning long division for a grade school boyfriend’s alleged infidelity.

Drop this bitch on an island and keep her away from society. She will bring nothing but misery to the civilized world for the rest of her miserable existence.

Legacy Traditional is a charter racket established now in 3 states. In business since 2007. 22 "campuses" in Arizona.

"Apply your $400 tax credit to Legacy!"

What kind of a whore has a boyfriend or girlfriend in 5th grade?

And how do you "cheat" on them? By going out for a soda with someone else?

Blow jobs in the bathrooms, r27. Our neighborhood junior high had to start locking the bathrooms due to the activity. This was 10 years ago.

Apart from watching TV, I guess they hear some pretty nasty stuff mentioned in the home too. No 10/11 year old in my day (yes I'm old) would ever think of killing someone. Makes you wonder what the parents talk about in front of their kids. Really fu*ked up.

When I am doing my grocery shopping I have heard parents say to their kids, "Get over here before I kill you!" They even curse little kids, "Take your fucking hands off your little brother before I kill you. Susie you're, just being a little bitch today aren't you!" Mama probably watches those life time movies where husbands and wives plot each other's murders.

Surprise has a lot of middle-class, UMC retirees and some wealthy homes. There are certainly homes in the 400k range - but it's definitely not an economically depressed area at all.

It's just suburbia - Phoenix limits suburbia with not much going on.

Tuition free charter schools proliferating in the southwest and heading to the south east next. They claim a "back to basics" education for children. With people describing them as rigid and conservative, I think they are probably grooming centers for the next generation of MAGAs.

A high school classmate lives in Surprise. She's married to a guy who was part of an embezzlement scheme that helped bring down a medium sized conglomerate. They lived in Palm Springs for awhile but complained about being cheated by Mexican workmen, whom I assume were being cheated by them. A Trumper, of course, and a total loon. She was the first person I ever unfriended and it was because I couldn't take her racist rants.
