They're Building a Concentration Camps in Florida.

People who think this current Fascist epoch will end peacefully fail to grasp the seriousness of what is actually happening here and how far it’s gone. Our beloved Democratic electeds and other high ups pretend there’s some valid unrigged election coming next year where everyone will see the error of their ways and we can reverse all of this. OK. It’s definitely on the Bingo Card for 2026. Right next to Post Apocalyptic Nazi Hellscape.
Meanwhile the current regime laughs at paralyzed Democratic “leaders” as they openly ignore court orders while disappearing tens of thousands of humans into Actual Concentration Camps. While building more Concentration Camps. I mean, what else do you call what they’re building in Florida? How many of US here on Daily Kos will get sent there or to whatever Concentration Camp is built near you?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 27, 2025 8:35 PM |
Florida? Wouldn't that be cruel and unusual punishment?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 27, 2025 8:43 PM |
The "real" Americans we've been hearing about this for years, i.e. the flag waving, God fearing, patriotic Christians/MAGAts, absolutely love this shit, just like the Germans loved seeing Jews evicted from their homes and marched off to train stations to be "resettled" elsewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 27, 2025 8:44 PM |
They're not really "building" anything in the Everglades. Apparently, there is an old unused airport that wasn't allowed to continue to operate due to environmental concerns, and they're going to put up huge military tents (think MASH) on the tarmac. In the Everglades, FFS!! If these folks don't die from heat stroke, they'll be perfect (if a little large) meals for alligators and pythons. Lawsuits are pending.
I know, I know -- Florida is a shithole and DeSatan is the devil himself. But the vast majority (70%+) of prisons in FL have no air conditioning either, and nobody here has ever given a fuck about that. I remember years ago reading in the St. Pete Times about a guy the guards were pissed off at who was put in a scalding hot shower for two hours and he cooked to death. No charges were filed against the guards.
I told people for years, if you're going to commit a crime, FFS, don't do it in Florida. Unless you're white and rich, of course.

Of course! There'll be plenty of supplies to work with.

They will learn how to make knock-off purses out of alligator hide which will later be sold on the streets of NYC.

it's happening-in real time. Hitler and the Nazi rise to power was all done thru legal means. Next up! - trump/maga will enact their own version of the "German Enabling Act of 1933" (look it up, it's worth a read). Our scotus will side with maga 6-3, 99% of the time. Any hopes of Judicial or Congressional intervention to stop this are pretty much over. We're fucked, folks
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 27, 2025 10:02 PM |
Why do so many members of the Trump administration looks like ghouls?

Doesn't everything happen in real-time?
Although in conspiracy world, maybe things don't.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 27, 2025 10:07 PM |
The people tortured in Guantanamo without due process weren't Americans, so that one was probably fine.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 27, 2025 10:11 PM |
R5, that was a plot in Orange Is the New Black. A gay guard in a male prison scalds a prisoner to death who was mean to his boo. Are you sure you weren't watching Netflix and drifted off?

Is there even one Republican in Congress with the courage to stand up and say, "This is heartless, this is wrong, and this is evil"?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 27, 2025 10:23 PM |
Actually, no. They didn’t care when the Capitol was invaded.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 27, 2025 10:23 PM |

The Dems are a bunch of pussy's. If elected, they will go back to kissing Repubs asses. We need a third party.

One of the cartels should put a bounty out for Stephen Miller's head.

Time to GTFO while we still can......
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 27, 2025 10:36 PM |
It would be a very, very easy thing to do for the cartel to issue out a $10 million reward for Miller's head. I'll be surprised if we don't see that happening some time soon.

The private prison industry is salivating over the additional hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts coming its way, thanks to the policies of Trump's regime.
The US already has the largest rate of incarceration in the world. Those numbers are going to explode.
Remember all those right wing conspiracy warnings about FEMA camps that would be built by Dems to round people up? Forever hypocrites, MAGAts don't seem a bit bothered by their dear leader violating the rights of their perceived enemies and throwing them into prisons.

I’m hardly the most liberal person around but I always thought most people would find stiffing people in prison camps where they could die would be evil. That’s what separates republicans today from republicans of the past. They have zero morals about anything. These people don’t even care about pedophilia.

Apparently, posters here have ignored OP's line about this also being a Stephen Miller appreciation thread. I suspect OP was being sarcastic as Miller is one of the most evil, hateful, soulless persons alive. I haven't read up on my Goebbels' history, but I suspect he pales in comparison.
I don't think Miller has a single good quality. At least Hitler loved dogs.
You know what, I'm gonna go even further. Given opportunity and if it swung him into a position of power, I could see Miller exterminating 7 million people. Even if they were Jews, his own race.
Did I do the impossible and make him look even worse than Hitler?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 28, 2025 8:25 PM |
But can you see him poisoning his own children in a Fuehrerbunker? That’s the question.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 28, 2025 8:37 PM |
And always has been, R30.
Highlights of major atrocities in US history:
Slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynching, race massacres of early 20th century, redlining and other widespread discrimination against people of color
Slaughter of indigenous people, rounding up survivors onto reservations, and kidnapping their children to boarding schools where they were abused (and some times killed) while converting them
Imperialism - conquering other nations and territories and interfering with the governments of other nations, corporate exploitation of natural resources and people in other countries
War atrocities - including the fire bombing of Dresden, dropping atomic bombs on Japan, Bush administration torturing prisoners during its War on Terror after 9/11, long-term financial and military support of Israel, esp in its genocidal treatment of Palestinians in Gaza
What else should be added to this list?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 28, 2025 8:47 PM |
They’re suing on environmental grounds. The “temporary” site for 3000 prisoners comes out of the FEMA!! budget: $450,000,000 to build.
The grift is in plain sight.

R33? Don't forget the internment camps for Japanese in America during WWII.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 28, 2025 9:02 PM |
That definitely should be on the list, R33. Thank you.
To clarify, the camps were for American citizens of Japanese descent and most lost their homes, possessions, and businesses as a result.

From historian Heather Cox Richardson's latest Letters from An American, June 28, 2025:
According to immigration scholar Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, the measure also provides an additional $45 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain migrants, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion. It adds $14.4 billion for transportation and removal on top of the current annual budget of $750 million. It also adds $8 billion for new ICE hires and retention. Reichlin-Melnick notes that this budget will give ICE more money for detention than it gives the entire U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
From Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, June 28, 2025:
If the bill passes, it could make ICE the nation’s largest jailer, with more funding for detention than the entire federal Bureau of Prisons. It would give ICE enough money to have more officers on board than the entire FBI.
This alone could transform American society forever.

This is exactly what all the flag waving, faux patriotic, faux Chrisitan MAGAts wanted: a fascist dictatorship with a huge subservient prison population.

Just wait until the first cat 4/5 hurricane hits Alligator Alcatraz - where would they move all the detainees? More than likely they will be sitting ducks and remain in place with countless deaths. This will either be a bonus for the Nazis (replacing the dead w/new 'residents') or will explode in the media with outrage from the public.
The confidence of the GQP in pushing through a highly disliked bill removing millions from Medicaid and raising premiums on those within the ACA (Obama Care - a misnomer) is going to through another log on the fire of unpopularity with the GQP. They don't care because there will NOT be a mid-term election so they just do what their billionaire benefactors dictate. Project 2025 is not being implemented to be rolled back should Democrats take back the House and/or Senate mid-term - they have a plan for that too.
We will never be freer than we are now.

On the other hand, he/she may not be aware of the absolute strenuous arguments continuously put forth on behalf of the common man by Dem Reps and Senators Jamie Raskin, Adam Schiff, Jasmine Crockett, Chris Murphy, Melanie Stansberry, Goldman, Pressley - just to name a few! They are representing!

“In the BBC series "Years and Years", Vivienne Rook, played by Emma Thompson, discusses the "Erstwhile" facilities, which are presented as concentration camps for refugees and the poor. In one scene, she justifies the existence of these camps, even playing with the word "concentration," saying, "The word concentration simply means a concentration of anything. You can fill a camp full of oranges, it'll be a concentration camp!" She also alludes to historical precedents, mentioning "British inventions" and suggesting that these camps are a way of "letting nature take its course".
Specifically, in episode 5, "The Erstwhile Sites," according to a synopsis on The Telegraph, Rook takes over a presentation about the camps, stating, "Never mind refugees... we've got problems with our own population." She uses the camps to address issues of overpopulation and displacement caused by floods, radiation, and coastal erosion. Rook then compares the camps to Lord Kitchener's concentration camps during the Boer War, suggesting that they are not neglect or genocide, but rather "efficient". She essentially rebrands the camps as a way to control and manage the population, even though they are presented as brutal and dehumanizing.
This video explains the Erstwhile sites in the Years and Years series:”

What’s really upsetting to hear about is kids who were American who has undocumented parents who are suddenly snatched up and they don’t know where they’ve gone. What happens to those kids? I know someone who works with youth and he has heard stories of this happening.

Just a tangential update.
I drove down I-75 today to visit my dad in St. Pete. I was going at my usual 80 mph pace, but then I saw an SUV in the median painted like a sheriff's vehicle so I slowed down a bit. It didn't budge so I went back to 80. Then about 30 miles south, I saw another one. This time I was actually driving slowly enough to look at what was on the side of the vehicle, because even though both of these SUVs had a sheriff's department green and white paint scheme, neither said "SHERIFF" on the side, nor the county.
And guess what logo was on the side?
Department of Homeland Security.
I didn't see any lights on top of either vehicle, but maybe they had lights they could put on top? I don't know.
Farther down the highway, I saw two more parked side-by-side, both facing the same direction. And guess what was on the side of the one I saw?
Border Patrol.
Now, Florida does not share a border with any other country. WTF were [italic]they[/italic] doing here?
And how do these fuckers decided who they're going to pull over? Or are they just there as a deterrent?
Bad days are comin'.
Joseph Goebbels is the wrong Nazi to highlight on this - Heinrich Himmler was the concentration camps guy.
R52 Himmler was the overall commander of the SS, but the real architect of the Final Solution was Reinhard Heydrich, having chaired the 1942 Wannsee Conference where the plans for the extermination of the Jews of Europe were draw up and dispatched.
He was also directly responsible for the Einsatzgruppen, the special task forces that travelled in the wake of the German armies and murdered more than two million people by mass shooting and gassing including 1.3 million Jews.
In June 1944 he was assassinated by Czech and Slovak partisans. In revenge, the Nazis (mistakenly) linked two Czechoslovakian towns to the plot, and murdered the entire populations of both towns.
Notably, Heydrich was dogged by rumours of Jewish ancestry. Is he an example of self-loathing taken to an extreme?
