Apparently, there is an old unused airport that wasn't allowed to continue to operate due to environmental concerns, and they're going to put up huge military tents (think MASH) on the tarmac. But the vast majority (70%+) of prisons in FL have no air conditioning either, and nobody here has ever given a fuck about that. I remember years ago reading in the St. Pete Times about a guy the guards were pissed off at who was put in a scalding hot shower for two hours and he cooked to death. No charges were filed against the guards.

I told people for years, if you're going to commit a crime, FFS, don't do it in Florida. Unless you're white and rich, of course.

I drove down I-75 today to visit my dad in St. Pete. I was going at my usual 80 mph pace, but then I saw an SUV in the median painted like a sheriff's vehicle so I slowed down a bit. It didn't budge so I went back to 80. Then about 30 miles south, I saw another one. This time I was actually driving slowly enough to look at what was on the side of the vehicle, because even though both of these SUVs had a sheriff's department green and white paint scheme, neither said "SHERIFF" on the side, nor the county.
