“Tenderness” (1984) by General Public is an underrated GEM of a song
This should have been a #1 hit!!! Amazing song that so many people feel nostalgic when they hear it because it was played so heavily on the radio and used in numerous films, including Weird Science and Clueless.
I was listening to an 80s playlist and it came on and I froze for a second because I haven’t heard it in years and the minute the music started it took me back to 1995. Wow. The power of music!
I am now watching The Bear season 4 and it plays in an episode and again, nostalgia!

Good song. But it sounds very much a product of its time.

The 80s had SO much musical experimentation - new sounds from synthesizers, incorporating world beats and other cultures, trying new chords and even using feedback distortion..
It really was fun and you were hearing sounds you had never heard before. A very unique time and we took it for granted.
Now I hear new songs - but nothing sounds 'fresh' or new.

Love Tenderness.
However, my favorite song on that album is Never You Done That.

The blond guy plays all over SoCal as General Public. He's going to play near me in a few weeks. But he plays so often it's not something you feel like you've missed.
The blond is bisexual but I believe Ranking Roger passed away.
