OP are any of these cunts still alive gramps?

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2025 2:01 PM

When did we peak?

I think 1994. It all started going downhill with the internet in 1995 and technology replacing culture.

by Anonymousreply 2June 26, 2025 2:01 PM

Born Free. That was culture! đŸ„ș

All classic beauties. Raquel should have known better and covered the girls for her meet and greet with the Queen.

Back in the day, the press dubbed Miss Andress as "Ursula Undress" because she was frequently [italic]underdressed[/italic] in films.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 13June 26, 2025 5:16 PM

Did Ursula come straight from the set? She’s wearing the same dress in the film scene as when meeting the Queen. Also, that’s actually Peter Sellers pretending to look like Woody Allen (again, he’s wearing the same tux in the scene and with the Queen).

by Anonymousreply 14June 26, 2025 5:22 PM

She bore a child for a guy who ended up with Lisa Rinna. Oh how the mighty fall

by Anonymousreply 15June 26, 2025 5:23 PM

Or IS it Woody Allen? They were all in Casino Royale togetherđŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž

by Anonymousreply 16June 26, 2025 5:30 PM

Ursula was a John Derek discovery, so it's a miracle she had any honor for acting.

by Anonymousreply 17June 26, 2025 5:43 PM

She was in several films and under contract before she met/married Derek.

by Anonymousreply 18June 26, 2025 5:50 PM

R15 And she went out with Harry Hamlin - what was she thinking?

Then again, he then married Rinna...

by Anonymousreply 19June 26, 2025 5:53 PM

“And she went out with Harry Hamlin”

Are you quite sure?

by Anonymousreply 20June 26, 2025 5:54 PM

Dimitri Hamlin, their son.

by Anonymousreply 31June 26, 2025 6:48 PM

According to Ursula Andress' wiki bio, she and John Derek separated because of her affair with her "Once Before I Die" co-star Ron Ely. The film also starred and was directed by John Derek! That must've been quite a rocky shoot! Their divorce was finalized before the film's release.

Andress and Deneuve share at least two paramours that we know of: Marcello Mastroianni and Franco Nero.

R14 mystifying about Ursulas dress! It's the same damn dress, right?

according to IMDB

What's New Pussycat was released in 1965- "What's New Pussycat" (1965) was filmed in various locations in France, primarily in Paris and its surrounding areas. Key filming locations included Villa Castel Henriette in SÚvres, Chùteau de Chaumontel, and Luzarches. Studio work was also conducted at Paris Studios Cinéma in Billancourt. The film was produced in the USA and France, according to Svensk Filmdatabas.

by Anonymousreply 34June 26, 2025 6:59 PM

I was certain Julie Christie was dead but apparently not.

by Anonymousreply 35June 26, 2025 7:00 PM
[R14] mystifying about Ursulas dress! It's the same damn dress, right?

What's mystifying, r34? It wasn't uncommon for actresses to borrow studio clothes for premieres and special events.

by Anonymousreply 36June 26, 2025 7:06 PM

R34 no one’s talking about that movie released a year earlier. She wore the dress in Casino Royale—which was being filmed at the exact same time as the Born Free premiere.

by Anonymousreply 37June 26, 2025 7:19 PM

For my money Julie Christie was the most beautiful, most sensuous, most talented , most charismatic of that trio.

by Anonymousreply 48June 26, 2025 8:41 PM

I wonder why Christie stopped acting? She was having a nice resurgence about 15 years ago, but then disappeared. She even got an Oscar nomination in 2006.

by Anonymousreply 49June 26, 2025 8:50 PM

She should have won —

by Anonymousreply 50June 26, 2025 9:00 PM

Christie appeared in a Redford film as a terrorist on the run. Good movie and great cast, too. Sarandon was in it.

1966 was a good year for fashion. The young and hip were adopting the Swinging London mod styles, but they still looked well-kempt, well-fitted, and properly washed.

by Anonymousreply 65June 27, 2025 12:34 AM

by Anonymousreply 66June 27, 2025 1:11 AM

Now this is glamour

by Anonymousreply 67June 27, 2025 1:40 AM

R66, no she does not have dementia, she has some form of amnesia. Here: " Julie Christie is suffering from a rare and irreversible condition called autobiographic amnesia, which results from trauma to the hippocampus, the part of the brain where memories are made." It's not neurodegenerative like Alzheimer's.

by Anonymousreply 68June 27, 2025 2:03 AM

You have to love that picture of the three of them, dressed and coiffed to the nines. And wearing long gloves too, which pretty much went out of fashion a couple of years later. And most of all, all that ceremony for a movie premiere whilst today we just have “content” that slinks along into streaming services with no special fanfare.

by Anonymousreply 69June 27, 2025 2:16 AM
And most of all, all that ceremony for a movie premiere

Well, it [italic]was[/italic] a Royal Film Premiere with Queen Elizabeth in attendance, so there was something extra about it.

Ursula Andress is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 72June 27, 2025 5:17 AM

It’s just so fascinating looking back at the glamour of it all, all of them beautiful and groomed. And the Queen and the Duchess of Kent in their white furs and tiaras looking amazing.

Thanks for posting this OP.

by Anonymousreply 73June 27, 2025 5:38 AM

I always liked the Duchess of Kent. She comes across as a very kind woman. I especially like the way she stopped being a working royal, dropped the HRH, and became a music teacher. She has been open about her experience of severe depression, not very typical of the buttoned up royals.

R49 even without her autobiographic amnesia, Christie has said she never aspired to be the another Meryl Streep. She loathes Hollywood, has taken years off at a time from films, and prefers the private, secluded life. She’s retired and at least her last film was a decent Redford film.

by Anonymousreply 87June 27, 2025 11:45 AM

R76, you mean Princess Michael of Kent.

Raquels manager husband Patrick Curtis spills some tea how Raquel managed to secure the spotlight.
Curtis explained how they manipulated her appearance to draw all the focus on her: “She decided, with my help, to wear a modest white dress with just a little cleavage, but it did make her stand out. With all the other big names at the that even, it was Raquel who was photographed by, I think every photographer in London while shaking hands with the Queen of England.”
The following day Raquel wearing her simple white dress appeared in every London and provincial newspaper. Curtis was accused of manipulating the photograph and arranging it to be printed at the exclusion of everyone else who attended that evening. You would have thought Raquel was the sole big star there.
Curtis admitted the photo had been manipulated, but by Raquel herself. They had both worked out a plan of action prior to the event. She maneuvered herself into the line of stars to the area where she would be closest to the photographers in an unobstructed view.
“She instinctively knew that it would be her picture which would be used in the papers. Her dark skin on that white dress really made her stand out in that crowd.”
“It was that picture, thanks to the London press, which ‘made’ Raquel an international celebrity – being photographed with the Queen of England. It didn’t hurt her in the States, either. One of the wire services picked it up and it appeared in practically every major newspaper at home!”

by Anonymousreply 95June 27, 2025 3:34 PM

Ursula Andess arrived in Hollywood in 1955 and signed a seven-year contract with Paramount Pictures, but this generated no acting roles because she kept skipping speech and elocution classes that would've perfected her English. She bought out her contract and signed with Columbia Pictures, but that also produced no gigs.

Her big claim to fame at the time was her "romance" with James Dean, whom she supposedly dumped for John Derek. She put her career on hold to play wife to Derek, but re-emerged and re-invented sleeker and with long hair (at Derek's behest) as a Bond girl in "Dr No" (1962).
