Tapper's Biden book "Original Sin": biggest flop on the national 'best-seller lists'

That’s a wrap for Jake Tapper’s “Original Sin.”

The Biden bashing book has sold a total of 86,982 copies – well below 100,000 and not enough to stay afloat on the best seller lists, according to NPD Book Scan.

On Amazon, “Original Sin” is down to number 187 and will likely fall off the top 200 by the end of the week.

The book was promoted heavily on CNN with non stop shilling. Every show talked about it endlessly.

Tapper — whose ratings, like all of CNN pre-the Israel Iran War, fell precipitously — continues to go after Biden. He’s largely ignored any mistakes made by Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Tapper did a video podcast with former NBC correspondent Chuck Todd, where they questioned Biden’s family values — sad because Biden lost his wife and daughter in a car accident, his son to cancer, married again only once and is admired as a family man.

Trump, however, has been married three times, judged to be guilty of sexual harassment by a jury and owes his victim $83 million, and slept with a sex worker while his third wife was pregnant — then paid her off and covered it up.

Tapper (and Alex Thompson) will never be able to pay back their advance. The publisher can’t be happy that the book is the most reviled of 2025.

May his name be ever forgotten.

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2025 12:20 PM

I wish Tapper and his Resting Scowl Face (RCF) would fade into oblivion.

by Anonymousreply 2June 26, 2025 12:23 PM

Tapper is inauthentic. Every part of the political spectrum knows he's a phoney. He's opportunistic and just jumping on the bandwagon for $. The fact that he continues punching down on the Bidens may not be a winning strategy with anyone. I'm here for his eventual "taking time to spend with his family and online blog" statement.

*RSF not RCF

Why aren't the 80 million people who voted for Trump flocking to their local book stores to buy, and devour Jake Tapper's definitive account of Sleepy Joe-Dead Robot Joe Biden's decline?

Could it be that they don't read books or know where to buy them?

by Anonymousreply 5June 26, 2025 12:35 PM

Tapper and Todd.

A pair of poster boys for the worst of the failing media.

by Anonymousreply 6June 26, 2025 12:36 PM

"Could it be that they don't read books or know where to buy them?"

Or, far more likely, they don't know how to read.

That's the way the Republicans and Trump like their constituents: fat, drunk and stupid.

[quote]judged to be guilty of sexual harassment by a jury and owes his victim $83 million

No, the jury found him guilty of sexual abuse, because of legal niceties, but the judge clarified that what the jury agreed he did to E. Jean Carroll was digital penetration, which is rape.

By sticking to the strict parameters of what "the jury" decided, the source in OP was weaseling, probably to avoid the Führer's anger.

If Monica Lewinsky had taken one for the team, we never would have heard of this chode.

by Anonymousreply 9June 26, 2025 1:31 PM

I would sooner set my hair on fire than watch a Chuck Todd/Jake Tapper video podcast.

by Anonymousreply 10June 26, 2025 1:42 PM

What could they possibly say about Biden’s family values?

This is a man who instructed his staff that if one of his grandchildren called he was always available.

[quote]The book was promoted heavily on CNN with non stop shilling. Every show talked about it endlessly.

To think this was released weeks before Father's Day, and should have been the 'big' father's day book to read this summer. Instead, it flopped.

Wonder if he will have to pay any of his advance back to the publisher ?

by Anonymousreply 12June 26, 2025 8:50 PM

why on earth would he title his little novel about President Biden's infirmity as "original sin"?

Here’s the truth. The goal isn’t to sway people to believe these character assassinations of Biden. They only need to put poison in the well, they know you won’t drink it, but it feels really shitty knowing they poisoned that well, right? THAT is the purpose. It is to demoralize you.

I don’t put Biden on a pedestal at all. He was a dandy-man who stroked off the banks and the mob, he came up through tough times though, so his love of working class people was authentic. In spite of all his problems, he did love us, the People, his love of people is real, you can’t fake that. And now they’ve rubbed a shit-stained rag all over that too.

Meanwhile, behold the creature inside the White House, who helped destroy America. Who is infinitely worse than Joe Biden. Who has actually been convicted of felonies, and had numerous bankruptcies, married a hooker and cheated with a porn star, you cannot make it up. Now it will take 50 - 100 years to climb out of this, if ever. I’m 52, I surely won’t live to see it, but I am in the fight. Face the truth — so we can finally come together and UNITE for all people. America has to be for ALL people, we need a New Deal Part 2. I don’t want money, I want safe communities, world-class education and healthcare, cutting edge-infrastructure reinvestments, public funding in ways that we’ve never imagined. Clean air, water, soil, parks. Dignity. Justice. That’s what we all deserve.

Whomp whomp!

by Anonymousreply 15June 27, 2025 12:33 AM

It was overexposed. I can’t imagine there being anything left in the book that the authors haven’t already talked about in interviews. If Tapper were to write an exposé about CNN, that would sell books.

by Anonymousreply 16June 27, 2025 12:42 AM

There's a reason why he only promoted it on CNN shows, and hardly anywhere else. No one would have him, and he wouldn't be comfortable answering the inevitable questions.

by Anonymousreply 17June 27, 2025 12:52 AM

Here's the podcast - around 16:00 mark he talks about Biden's decision to run and around 17:00 - he talks about how Biden always talked about and promoted family values but a 'source' of his says it's not true.

Fuck Jake Tapper and Chuck Todd - they're both awful. Put in place to let Republicans get away with saying whatever they want.

You know what MY SOURCE says? Jake Tapper likes to eat poo out of men's toilets - That's JUST WHAT MY SOURCES ARE SAYING. Blech.

[quote] There's a reason why he only promoted it on CNN shows, and hardly anywhere else.

That’s incredibly untrue. He has done interviews about the book with a lot of people outside of CNN.

by Anonymousreply 19June 27, 2025 12:56 AM

R19 I said 'not many' - I didn't say 'none at all'. His emphasis was promoting it on CNN, which is where I caught all his interviews.

by Anonymousreply 20June 27, 2025 1:44 AM

Correction - I said 'hardly any' in my quote.

by Anonymousreply 21June 27, 2025 1:45 AM

Deserved.

Fuck you, Jake.

by Anonymousreply 22June 27, 2025 1:52 AM

Ha. Ha. Ha

by Anonymousreply 23June 27, 2025 2:12 AM

Tapper and Todd are low down, disingenuous weasels.

[quote]Jake Tapper likes to eat poo out of men's toilets

Many people are saying, r18.

by Anonymousreply 25June 27, 2025 3:01 AM

I guess we will soon be seeing this on the bargain tables at B&N this summer, marked down to $4.99. They'll have to try and get rid of their inventory.

by Anonymousreply 26June 27, 2025 11:42 AM

For some real schadenfreude, compare Tapper's sales to some of the Trump tell-alls. Eat shit, Jake!

[quote]Mary Trump’s tell-all book had sold a staggering 950,000 copies by the end of its first day on sale, publisher Simon & Schuster said Thursday.

[quote] Just two weeks ago, Simon & Schuster celebrated the success of another Trump tell-all book, that one by former National Security Adviser John Bolton. The book, “The Room Where It Happened,” sold more than 780,000 copies in its first week of sales.

[quote] “Fear” by legendary journalist Bob Woodward had sold 900,000 copies by the end of its first day of official sales. “A Higher Loyalty” by former FBI Director James Comey had sold 600,000 copies at the end of its first week on store shelves. And “Fire & Fury,” the hit book by Michael Wolff, sold more than 1.7 million copies by the time it had been out for a month.
