You’re not going to know until after July 1. Cool your jets.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 24, 2025 10:07 PM |
Ah, didn’t realize that. I guess ranked-choice takes a lot longer to tabulate.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 24, 2025 10:37 PM |
I just got back from voting in Brooklyn It wasn’t too crowded and I was in and out in 15 minutes.
As my district borders Borough Park where the majority of folks are registered Republicans, I was surprised to see many religious Jews in the polling place.
I’m glad this day will be over soon. In the past two weeks, I have received an obscene numbers of calls, robocalls, texts, and mailings. While writing this, another robocall came in. I didn’t see this much action in advance of the 2024 presidential election.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 24, 2025 10:58 PM |
When Cuomo loses, he run as an Independent, along with Mayor Eric Adams. Good luck :)
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 24, 2025 11:02 PM |
Who’s in the Republican primary?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 24, 2025 11:13 PM |
They are not holding a primary election R5. Curtis Sliwa is their nominee.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 24, 2025 11:19 PM |
How is Cynthia Nixon doing?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 24, 2025 11:22 PM |
Maybe if Sliwa became mayor, people would stop getting beat up on the Subway. I wonder what his full platform is. I’m so tired of the same republican lite Dems and hardcore lefties— all backed by the same rich donors.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 24, 2025 11:24 PM |
Cynthia is out in the heat wearing two shirts, so that she can show off her “Don’t Rank Cuomo” t-shirt after she votes.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 24, 2025 11:31 PM |
You know the faux-outraged Miss R8 doesn't live in NYC.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 24, 2025 11:35 PM |
Why, I live in NYC and understand the sentiment. Sliwa is a joke though and crime has stabilized under Adams. If Mamdani is the Dem nominee, I’ll vote independent. Adams is a crook but the city is actually in fairly decent shape.,
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 24, 2025 11:39 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 25, 2025 12:13 AM |
R16, are you also a Trump fan?
Like Trump, Cuomo has many accusations of sexual misconduct. A certain sort of person seems to cheer for “sex pests,” as the Brits call them. Like you.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 25, 2025 12:15 AM |
Sliwa is age 71. Enough of the olds.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 25, 2025 12:20 AM |
R19 Wow he looks great for 71. Such a hot daddy bae though not a bear. The gayer I get, the more I want a senior Italian daddy.

R17 Ho please, I ain’t never ever been to Pittsburgh.

What are Mamdami’s virtues/faults? I’d like to see a young dem win. Jesus, it’s time.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 25, 2025 12:28 AM |
If Cuomo wins, NYC deserves the trash it gets.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 25, 2025 12:29 AM |
Cuomo is funded by the same people who funded Trump.
He also has endorsements from people like George Santos.

Is Silwa still a Guardian Angel? Why not nominate Bernie Getz? What a clown show.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 25, 2025 12:38 AM |
Mamdani is running on an affordability platform. Rent control, more housing.
He’s probably a little vulnerable because he would be soft on crime. But the choices are not great so maybe he’ll win.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 25, 2025 12:43 AM |
R25 The Guardian Angels have saved countless lives. What have you done for humanity?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 25, 2025 12:45 AM |
Wow a nepo baby socialist who has never had a real job is about to become a big city Mayor. You deserve it New York. Just don't come complaining next year when all law enforcement is gone, Jews and corporations flee to safer haven, and that free rent, transit, and daycare never comes to fruition.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 25, 2025 12:47 AM |
I’m scared
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 25, 2025 12:48 AM |
If no candidate reaches 50% tonight, we won't know the final results until next week. How embarrassing for New York. Even if Mandani doesn't win, he'll be formidable in the future and if he does win, Cuomo will still be on the ballot in November. Nobody is hoping more for a Mandani victory tonight than Eric Adams. God help us.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 25, 2025 12:51 AM |
I’m excited to stop filling the recycle bin with all these stupid election flyers. Michael Blake was my #1 ranking but I feel like he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.
My prediction is that Cuomo will win whether he comes out on top in the primary or runs as an independent in the general election. Mamdani is unproven and no one wants de Blasio again.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 25, 2025 12:52 AM |

Good for you, R46. So if you're so content, why are you bitching about NYC?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 25, 2025 1:20 AM |
Who's bitching R49? The real question is who's doing anything about what has happened to the greatest city in the world. Didn't the governor deploy the National Guard to the New York City subway system last year?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 25, 2025 1:27 AM |
You're bitching and trolling, R50. Why don't you just be happy with your life?

Mamdani lead is holding with 62% in. He's winning Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. He's winning Harlem.
He's outperforming even the more optimistic polls.

by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 25, 2025 1:42 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 25, 2025 1:42 AM |
Can this guy win the general in November?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 25, 2025 1:43 AM |
R58: Adams’ re-election prospects looks more promising now that this nutty socialist with no experience is going to be the Democratic nominee.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 25, 2025 1:49 AM |
R59, only about 21% of voters in NYC are registered Republicans, so, yes, he can win.
R60, Adams is, to put it mildly, unpopular.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 25, 2025 1:51 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 25, 2025 2:03 AM |
R61 is correct, some might vote for Adams tactically but almost nobody is an enthusiastic Adams supporter. And Sliwa is widely regarded as an unserious nutbar.
It is not difficult to imagine something like a Mamdami 42.5%, Adams 32.5%, Sliwa 25% outcome in the general election.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 25, 2025 2:03 AM |
Huh? Cuomo is running in November as an independent. Adams and Silva will be irrelevant.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 25, 2025 2:06 AM |
He couldn’t make it as a rapper. At least when he burns NYC into the ground, mommy and daddy will find him a new job.

So Mamdani can beat Cuomo's ass again. And Adams is hated. Mamdani has nothing to fear going toe to toe with him. Adams is a crook and now a Dump toady, which the city of New York disdains.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 25, 2025 2:08 AM |
Cuomo underperformed so unexpectedly, it will be difficult for him to mount a credible campaign in the general.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 25, 2025 2:11 AM |
If Mamdani has national aspirations, being Mayor of New York is historically a dead-end job.

No ranked choice in the general. It’s straight up race to a plurality. Cuomo will make a play to squeeze out a win by grabbing every vote to the right of Zohran.

What a mess for NYC. I don’t see any good outcomes in November if both Cuomo and Adams run as independents. It’s a a shame because NYC is currently in pretty good shape.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 25, 2025 2:23 AM |
So what's your point, R84? What do you have to offer about the mayoral primary? Let's cut the bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 25, 2025 2:24 AM |
Cuomo has conceded on Spectrum.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 25, 2025 2:28 AM |
Mamdani will not get to he 50% mark, which likely means several more rounds of voting before we learn who the official Dem nominee is next week.
Cuomo and Adams (who is wildly unpopular) will both be running on Independent tickets. As noted above, Sliwa is the straw man and joke candidate for the Republicans, who knew they had no chance in hell to win. That’s three essentially conservative (from one degree or another) candidates running against whoever the Dem progressive will be. Three candidates to divide the moderate to conservative vote, so if Cuomo’s rich supporters know what they’re about, they’ll bribe Adams to drop out of the race and endorse Cuomo.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 25, 2025 2:30 AM |
It’s hard to see how Mamdani loses in November if he runs against 3 opponents. Yikes.

by Anonymous | reply 99 | June 25, 2025 2:37 AM |

I’m extra pissed because Mamdani was the one candidate who refused to support city retirees in their fight to keep Medicare. Even the Repub Sliwa signed on to that. God, he’s such a piece of shit. Mouthing all the progressive bs and then refusing to fight for Medicare when it counts.

No, he wasn't the one candidate, R145. I quote: "Adrienne Adams, Zohran Mamdani and Zellnor Myrie are taking heat from retired city workers for refusing to sign a pledge to protect their health care from a cost-cutting deal championed by a union that endorsed them."
I quote further: "Earlier this month, the campaign of Queens Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who has surged from obscurity to the top position in one new survey, quietly changed its website to add for the first time a pledge to “reject Medicare Advantage” — the widely derided cost-cutting program that an existing deal between employee unions and City Hall aims to steer some quarter-million retirees into, hoping to save $600 million a year."
It was a "widely derided" cost-cutting program, it's worth repeating.

Yes a few candidates refused to support Medicare for city workers. All of them beholding to certain unions supporting Medicare Advantage. I said he was one of a few. Good to know he recently changed his position but that doesn’t require much. Even Adams has backed off on that. I know Republicans love to balance budgets by cutting Medicare and Medicaid but that’s not common for Democrats. Mamdani will need to get $ from somewhere so let’s see if he actually supports Medicare.

[quote] The middle class in NY is vanishing and isn’t enough to support the city financially.
Well, gee, that might be something to think about. Why is that? Could it be the winner-take-all society that wingnuts are always striving for? Could it be that capitalism isn't all light, love, and laughter and really does tend toward massive income inequality and driving more and more people into poverty? Do we need a little more, dare I say, socialism to balance out that tendency? Should we maybe not put the whims and moods and ever growing "needs" of the rich first and foremost, always?
by Anonymous | reply 178 | June 25, 2025 3:35 PM |
A lot of it is what you write, R178, but a lot is simply supply and demand with the NYC housing market. From the high crime nadir of the early 1990s to the "oooh Manhattan/Brooklyn is so FUN!" vibe among young people circa early 2010s.... our city became a place where more and more and more people from everywhere wanted to live. And the rich being so global these days, they all wanted a little piece of it too. "Place in NYC" as item #3, 4, 5 or 6 on their life/assets checklist, that kind of thing, even if they don't (or barely ever) live here.
There are ways to try to control the runaway (and predatory, in some cases) costs of housing in NYC, but they may be outmatched by the simple forces of supply/demand on the demand side. People still want to come here.

But in the last 4 years NY has lost more residents
Thousands of people left New York City for other parts of the United States in 2024, new data obtained by Property Shark shows.
Data shows New York City lost 352,100 residents, however, many of them did not move too far.
Data shows that earners more likely to move into New York City earn at least $100,000 per year. According to data, people earning between $50,000 and below the $100,000 mark are likely to move out of the city.

Recent census data shows that America's population is growing, and New York was the state with the largest numeric gains from 2023 to 2024 after a long-standing trend of residents leaving the Empire State.
From 2020 to 2023, 80 percent of the Empire State's towns and cities decreased in numbers. In 2023, New York was among only eight states with shrinking populations, alongside California, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
New York City saw some of the most significant declines, especially during the first years after the pandemic. Analysis by Cornell University found that the city's population plunged by nearly 4 percent—more than 336,000 people—in the first year of the pandemic alone as people migrated to less dense counties and even neighboring states.

That's something is you girl you can't do the basic math in the first year of the pandemic new York City lost 4% of its population approximately 360,000 people in one year while over the next several years 210,00 migrants arrived in NY.

Congress has full constitutional power to increase the finite number to more than 435 any time it wants.
