NYC Mayoral Primary Official Thread

Will Mamdami actually pull an upset or will Cuomo win? A thread for your predictions and updates on results (as they come in)

by Anonymousreply 212June 26, 2025 2:21 AM

You’re not going to know until after July 1. Cool your jets.

by Anonymousreply 1June 24, 2025 10:07 PM

Ah, didn’t realize that. I guess ranked-choice takes a lot longer to tabulate.

by Anonymousreply 2June 24, 2025 10:37 PM

I just got back from voting in Brooklyn It wasn’t too crowded and I was in and out in 15 minutes.

As my district borders Borough Park where the majority of folks are registered Republicans, I was surprised to see many religious Jews in the polling place.

I’m glad this day will be over soon. In the past two weeks, I have received an obscene numbers of calls, robocalls, texts, and mailings. While writing this, another robocall came in. I didn’t see this much action in advance of the 2024 presidential election.

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2025 10:58 PM

When Cuomo loses, he run as an Independent, along with Mayor Eric Adams. Good luck :)

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2025 11:02 PM

Who’s in the Republican primary?

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2025 11:13 PM

They are not holding a primary election R5. Curtis Sliwa is their nominee.

by Anonymousreply 6June 24, 2025 11:19 PM

How is Cynthia Nixon doing?

by Anonymousreply 7June 24, 2025 11:22 PM

Maybe if Sliwa became mayor, people would stop getting beat up on the Subway. I wonder what his full platform is. I’m so tired of the same republican lite Dems and hardcore lefties— all backed by the same rich donors.

by Anonymousreply 8June 24, 2025 11:24 PM

Cynthia is out in the heat wearing two shirts, so that she can show off her “Don’t Rank Cuomo” t-shirt after she votes.

You know the faux-outraged Miss R8 doesn't live in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2025 11:35 PM

Why, I live in NYC and understand the sentiment. Sliwa is a joke though and crime has stabilized under Adams. If Mamdani is the Dem nominee, I’ll vote independent. Adams is a crook but the city is actually in fairly decent shape.,

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2025 11:39 PM

R9 she was all in for DeBlasio…enuf said.

by Anonymousreply 12June 24, 2025 11:46 PM

You know you're a loser when Cynthia Nixon endorses you.

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2025 11:49 PM

Has Cynthia's Palestine-loving Jewish trans child endorsed anyone?

by Anonymousreply 14June 24, 2025 11:51 PM

^^^It's weak from the hunger strike.

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2025 11:53 PM

GO CUOMO!

by Anonymousreply 16June 25, 2025 12:06 AM

R8 lives in Pittsburgh, r10, and he’s as ugly on the outside as on the inside. Trust.

by Anonymousreply 17June 25, 2025 12:13 AM

R16, are you also a Trump fan?

Like Trump, Cuomo has many accusations of sexual misconduct. A certain sort of person seems to cheer for “sex pests,” as the Brits call them. Like you.

by Anonymousreply 18June 25, 2025 12:15 AM

Sliwa is age 71. Enough of the olds.

by Anonymousreply 19June 25, 2025 12:20 AM

R19 Wow he looks great for 71. Such a hot daddy bae though not a bear. The gayer I get, the more I want a senior Italian daddy.

by Anonymousreply 20June 25, 2025 12:23 AM

R17 Ho please, I ain’t never ever been to Pittsburgh.

by Anonymousreply 21June 25, 2025 12:28 AM

What are Mamdami’s virtues/faults? I’d like to see a young dem win. Jesus, it’s time.

by Anonymousreply 22June 25, 2025 12:28 AM

If Cuomo wins, NYC deserves the trash it gets.

by Anonymousreply 23June 25, 2025 12:29 AM

Cuomo is funded by the same people who funded Trump.

He also has endorsements from people like George Santos.

by Anonymousreply 24June 25, 2025 12:32 AM

Is Silwa still a Guardian Angel? Why not nominate Bernie Getz? What a clown show.

by Anonymousreply 25June 25, 2025 12:38 AM

Mamdani is running on an affordability platform. Rent control, more housing.

He’s probably a little vulnerable because he would be soft on crime. But the choices are not great so maybe he’ll win.

by Anonymousreply 26June 25, 2025 12:43 AM

R25 The Guardian Angels have saved countless lives. What have you done for humanity?

by Anonymousreply 27June 25, 2025 12:45 AM

Wow a nepo baby socialist who has never had a real job is about to become a big city Mayor. You deserve it New York. Just don't come complaining next year when all law enforcement is gone, Jews and corporations flee to safer haven, and that free rent, transit, and daycare never comes to fruition.

by Anonymousreply 28June 25, 2025 12:47 AM

I’m scared

by Anonymousreply 29June 25, 2025 12:48 AM

If no candidate reaches 50% tonight, we won't know the final results until next week. How embarrassing for New York. Even if Mandani doesn't win, he'll be formidable in the future and if he does win, Cuomo will still be on the ballot in November. Nobody is hoping more for a Mandani victory tonight than Eric Adams. God help us.

by Anonymousreply 30June 25, 2025 12:51 AM

I’m excited to stop filling the recycle bin with all these stupid election flyers. Michael Blake was my #1 ranking but I feel like he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.

My prediction is that Cuomo will win whether he comes out on top in the primary or runs as an independent in the general election. Mamdani is unproven and no one wants de Blasio again.

by Anonymousreply 31June 25, 2025 12:52 AM

R28 = Chris Cuomo.

Give it up, both of you are shit.

by Anonymousreply 32June 25, 2025 12:56 AM

Any nudes of Mamdani?

Andrew M. Cuomo +34.2% 34.2

Brad Lander +13.2% 13.2

Adrienne Adams +4.4%

Good for you, R46. So if you're so content, why are you bitching about NYC?

by Anonymousreply 49June 25, 2025 1:20 AM

Who's bitching R49? The real question is who's doing anything about what has happened to the greatest city in the world. Didn't the governor deploy the National Guard to the New York City subway system last year?

by Anonymousreply 50June 25, 2025 1:27 AM

You're bitching and trolling, R50. Why don't you just be happy with your life?

by Anonymousreply 51June 25, 2025 1:28 AM

R51 What a trite response. I am happy with my life. You sound defensive.

by Anonymousreply 52June 25, 2025 1:32 AM

Not at all, R52. You're the one bitching about a city you don't even live in.

by Anonymousreply 53June 25, 2025 1:35 AM

NYC is about to become Chicago. Well done New Yorkers…

by Anonymousreply 54June 25, 2025 1:35 AM

Mamdani lead is holding with 62% in. He's winning Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. He's winning Harlem.

He's outperforming even the more optimistic polls.

by Anonymousreply 55June 25, 2025 1:36 AM

As if no one on DL has ever talked about people and places they don't know and never visited R53 You sound upset why?

by Anonymousreply 56June 25, 2025 1:36 AM

I've seen enough. Mamdani is taking this.

by Anonymousreply 57June 25, 2025 1:42 AM

If the untalented rapper wins, he'll just be handing votes to the Republican primary winner in the general election

by Anonymousreply 58June 25, 2025 1:42 AM

Can this guy win the general in November?

by Anonymousreply 59June 25, 2025 1:43 AM

R58: Adams’ re-election prospects looks more promising now that this nutty socialist with no experience is going to be the Democratic nominee.

by Anonymousreply 60June 25, 2025 1:49 AM

R59, only about 21% of voters in NYC are registered Republicans, so, yes, he can win.

R60, Adams is, to put it mildly, unpopular.

by Anonymousreply 61June 25, 2025 1:51 AM

I’m following updates here - The City has had good coverage in general.

by Anonymousreply 62June 25, 2025 1:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 64June 25, 2025 1:57 AM

To bang on the way you are, R56, shows you're either obsessed or a troll.

by Anonymousreply 65June 25, 2025 1:57 AM

hotter than HOT

by Anonymousreply 66June 25, 2025 1:58 AM

[quote] As if no one on DL has ever talked about people and places they don't know and never visited

You've NEVER visited, R56. So why would anyone listen to you?

by Anonymousreply 67June 25, 2025 2:03 AM

R61 is correct, some might vote for Adams tactically but almost nobody is an enthusiastic Adams supporter. And Sliwa is widely regarded as an unserious nutbar.

It is not difficult to imagine something like a Mamdami 42.5%, Adams 32.5%, Sliwa 25% outcome in the general election.

by Anonymousreply 68June 25, 2025 2:03 AM

Huh? Cuomo is running in November as an independent. Adams and Silva will be irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 69June 25, 2025 2:06 AM

He couldn’t make it as a rapper. At least when he burns NYC into the ground, mommy and daddy will find him a new job.

by Anonymousreply 70June 25, 2025 2:07 AM

Is New York a demographically young city?

by Anonymousreply 71June 25, 2025 2:07 AM

Sliwa*

He’s so irrelevant his name matters not.

by Anonymousreply 72June 25, 2025 2:08 AM

[quote] Cuomo is running in November as an independent.

So Mamdani can beat Cuomo's ass again. And Adams is hated. Mamdani has nothing to fear going toe to toe with him. Adams is a crook and now a Dump toady, which the city of New York disdains.

by Anonymousreply 73June 25, 2025 2:08 AM

Cuomo underperformed so unexpectedly, it will be difficult for him to mount a credible campaign in the general.

by Anonymousreply 74June 25, 2025 2:11 AM

If Mamdani has national aspirations, being Mayor of New York is historically a dead-end job.

by Anonymousreply 75June 25, 2025 2:13 AM

Oh, well then, R75.

by Anonymousreply 76June 25, 2025 2:14 AM

R65 the pot calling the kettle . . .trollina

by Anonymousreply 77June 25, 2025 2:16 AM

We could see him get it first, R75. NYC mayor is a special position given New York's importance. It's better than being most governors if you ask me.

by Anonymousreply 78June 25, 2025 2:17 AM

There is no hope for New York.

by Anonymousreply 79June 25, 2025 2:19 AM

R77, I'm a New Yorker and this thread is about the mayoral primary. I have every right to call a troll like you a troll. Again, if you live your life, enjoy it.

by Anonymousreply 80June 25, 2025 2:19 AM

No ranked choice in the general. It’s straight up race to a plurality. Cuomo will make a play to squeeze out a win by grabbing every vote to the right of Zohran.

by Anonymousreply 81June 25, 2025 2:20 AM

R77, by the way, has never set foot in NYC. She admitted as much.

by Anonymousreply 82June 25, 2025 2:21 AM

R67 Pro- Palestinian students at Columbia where protesting Israel and probably not one of them ever visited the region and yet people listened to them? and btw way I have visited NYC many times.

by Anonymousreply 84June 25, 2025 2:22 AM

What a mess for NYC. I don’t see any good outcomes in November if both Cuomo and Adams run as independents. It’s a a shame because NYC is currently in pretty good shape.

by Anonymousreply 85June 25, 2025 2:23 AM

So what's your point, R84? What do you have to offer about the mayoral primary? Let's cut the bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 86June 25, 2025 2:24 AM

Cuomo has conceded on Spectrum.

by Anonymousreply 87June 25, 2025 2:28 AM

Mamdani will not get to he 50% mark, which likely means several more rounds of voting before we learn who the official Dem nominee is next week.

Cuomo and Adams (who is wildly unpopular) will both be running on Independent tickets. As noted above, Sliwa is the straw man and joke candidate for the Republicans, who knew they had no chance in hell to win. That’s three essentially conservative (from one degree or another) candidates running against whoever the Dem progressive will be. Three candidates to divide the moderate to conservative vote, so if Cuomo’s rich supporters know what they’re about, they’ll bribe Adams to drop out of the race and endorse Cuomo.

by Anonymousreply 88June 25, 2025 2:30 AM

It’s hard to see how Mamdani loses in November if he runs against 3 opponents. Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 89June 25, 2025 2:30 AM

[quote]Wow a nepo baby socialist who has never had a real job is about to become a big city Mayor. You deserve it New York.

Free bus rides for all the homeless and trans on the way to panhandle in front of the Socialist grocery stores and brand new "no-stigma" tranny hooker strolls! Such young, fresh blood ideas at last!

by Anonymousreply 90June 25, 2025 2:30 AM

Lander won London Terrace.

Cuomo won NYCHA houses and the High Line in the upper teens.

Z won the rest of Chelsea

by Anonymousreply 91June 25, 2025 2:31 AM

Aw, R90, don't take it so hard.

by Anonymousreply 92June 25, 2025 2:33 AM

The establishment will find some way to stop this guy.

by Anonymousreply 93June 25, 2025 2:33 AM

Cuomo didn't really sound like he wanted to run after this while giving his speech just now. Also Brad Lander told him "Good fucking riddance!" in his, which was awesome

by Anonymousreply 94June 25, 2025 2:34 AM

[quote] Mamdani will not get to he 50% mark, which likely means several more rounds of voting

Vote counting.

by Anonymousreply 95June 25, 2025 2:34 AM

R83 Not right wing but a lot of these people truly think and say soft racist shit.

by Anonymousreply 96June 25, 2025 2:35 AM

R93, this will be decided by NYC voters, not the establishment.

by Anonymousreply 97June 25, 2025 2:36 AM

R93 if Cuomo stands down…Adams is all you’ve got. That ain’t gonna fly.

by Anonymousreply 98June 25, 2025 2:36 AM

I hate ranked voting. It’s given un Mamdani and Adan. In the past there were additional primaries if nobody hit 50%. It gave the voters more time to pick a candidate.

by Anonymousreply 99June 25, 2025 2:37 AM

Sounded like Cuomo knows that Ranked Choice could only hurt him further, not save him… all those other progressive candidates’ supporters probably ranked Mandami 2nd or 3rd.

by Anonymousreply 100June 25, 2025 2:38 AM

And Adams…

[quote]Haha I love to see the ancient DL racists eating their shoes over the scary brown man...

I'm stunned rubes are all falling for this deeply unqualified dilettante!

by Anonymousreply 102June 25, 2025 2:38 AM

R98, NYC despises Adams.

by Anonymousreply 103June 25, 2025 2:39 AM

R86 what's your point trollina?

by Anonymousreply 104June 25, 2025 2:39 AM

Aww, R102...

And hating the holocaust is a good thing, isn't it?

by Anonymousreply 105June 25, 2025 2:40 AM

R100 that’s a given. He cross-endorsed with Lander… that alone will get Z over 50%

by Anonymousreply 106June 25, 2025 2:42 AM

Who did the UES vote for?

by Anonymousreply 107June 25, 2025 2:42 AM

Mamdani is a nepo baby who will bring all his worldly wisdom to the job of Mayor. We’re in trouble folks.

by Anonymousreply 108June 25, 2025 2:42 AM

R104, it's a direct question: as someone who doesn't live in NYC, what do you have to offer about the mayor primary?

by Anonymousreply 114June 25, 2025 2:44 AM

Actually, R110, it sounds like making someone stick to the topic of a thread.

by Anonymousreply 115June 25, 2025 2:44 AM

He’ll be worse than DeBlasio. The 1%’s days are numbered.

by Anonymousreply 116June 25, 2025 2:46 AM

I'm not following what you're trying to say, R116. Mamdani is nothing like de Blasio, and if the one percent's days are numbered, good.

by Anonymousreply 117June 25, 2025 2:47 AM

Cuomo ‘s been in politics for 40 years and had tons of executive experience. Mamdani was quite ineffective in Albany. But he’s young and cute so I guess that was enough. Can’t even imagine the mess NYC will be in for the next three years.

by Anonymousreply 118June 25, 2025 2:47 AM

R115 sounds like an anal-retentive hall monitor who keeps feeding trolls

by Anonymousreply 119June 25, 2025 2:47 AM

Sire, r118, because Adams and de Blasio were so great.

by Anonymousreply 120June 25, 2025 2:48 AM

Today is George Pataki’s birthday—the last person to beat a Cuomo.

by Anonymousreply 121June 25, 2025 2:50 AM

I understand the anger at the rich and the problem of housing in NYC. But I was here when NYC was broke. Without rich people to pay taxes this city can’t support the incredible number of poor people who live here. The middle class in NY is vanishing and isn’t enough to support the city financially.

by Anonymousreply 122June 25, 2025 2:51 AM

Mamdani has only ever managed a staff of 5 people but I guess people just couldn’t handle a tough but effective SOB.

by Anonymousreply 123June 25, 2025 2:51 AM

What did Cuomo actually achieve for New York state? Please give me that list of accomplishments. Because, Mamdani naysayers, do tell. Cuomo sure wasn't good to NYC when he was governor.

by Anonymousreply 124June 25, 2025 2:51 AM

R122: He’ll lower the rents because the rich will flee in droves.

by Anonymousreply 125June 25, 2025 2:52 AM

R88 They wouldn’t have announced a winner if there was a mathematical path forward for Cuomo. Unless he plans to pull a late late term Hillary.

by Anonymousreply 126June 25, 2025 2:52 AM

Nor was he good to old people in nursing homes.

by Anonymousreply 127June 25, 2025 2:53 AM

All I can hope for is that Mamdami will take a clue from Obama, who was charismatic but unusually under-qualified for the Presidency in 2008; Obama surrounded himself with actual expertise.

by Anonymousreply 128June 25, 2025 2:53 AM

From 5 staffers to 300,000 employees…

by Anonymousreply 129June 25, 2025 2:53 AM

Cuomo needs to take his perverted ass and retire off to Westchester County or something. We have had sufficient of his chaos.

by Anonymousreply 130June 25, 2025 2:54 AM

Cuomo kept the state solvent and prosperous. That is an accomplishment in a state like NY that is bleeding middle class residents. I guess Mamdani was seen as better counterpart to Trump. I can’t even imagine what a punching bag NYC will be for Trump now. It won’t be pretty.

by Anonymousreply 131June 25, 2025 2:56 AM

The only thing Cuomo was good at was being a homophobe and groping women - he kept NYS solvent by raping NYC. Why the fuck would we want him as mayor? Mamdani is smart and passionate and I'm done with ancient donor-propped-up corpses in office

by Anonymousreply 132June 25, 2025 2:57 AM

[quote] Obama, who was charismatic but unusually under-qualified for the Presidency

Like Dubya, R128, was a paragon of presidential experience?

by Anonymousreply 133June 25, 2025 2:58 AM

R131 And he gon get that fucking orange ass handed to him to him court by court. Supreme Court justice by Supreme Court justice.

by Anonymousreply 134June 25, 2025 2:59 AM

Mamdani should hire De Blasio as his chief of staff. That’s his favorite mayor and he could use the expertise.

by Anonymousreply 135June 25, 2025 2:59 AM

[quote] he kept NYS solvent by raping NYC.

Hear hear, R134. That's the truth. Cuomo fucked over NYC. Fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 136June 25, 2025 3:00 AM

R132, I meant.

by Anonymousreply 137June 25, 2025 3:00 AM

R135 is drunk, poor dear.

by Anonymousreply 138June 25, 2025 3:01 AM

R133, the Supreme Court is kicking Trump’s ass? In Bizarro world maybe.

by Anonymousreply 139June 25, 2025 3:01 AM

Mamdani named DeBlasio as his favorite mayor. Maybe you should keep up with the news, dear.

by Anonymousreply 140June 25, 2025 3:03 AM

My guess is Cuomo doesn’t run as an Independent in November. That will help Adams tremendously.

by Anonymousreply 141June 25, 2025 3:03 AM

[quote] That will help Adams tremendously.

How will it help Adams in a city where he's hated, R141?

by Anonymousreply 142June 25, 2025 3:05 AM

I think Cuomo or Adams should drop out.

by Anonymousreply 143June 25, 2025 3:05 AM

I didn't know that, R140. I just did a cursory search and didn't find anything to that effect.

by Anonymousreply 144June 25, 2025 3:07 AM

I’m extra pissed because Mamdani was the one candidate who refused to support city retirees in their fight to keep Medicare. Even the Repub Sliwa signed on to that. God, he’s such a piece of shit. Mouthing all the progressive bs and then refusing to fight for Medicare when it counts.

[quote]Wow a nepo baby socialist who has never had a real job is about to become a big city Mayor. You deserve it New York. Say hi to your mom from the troll farm headquarters in the Federalist Society basement.

by Anonymousreply 146June 25, 2025 3:09 AM

No, he wasn't the one candidate, R145. I quote: "Adrienne Adams, Zohran Mamdani and Zellnor Myrie are taking heat from retired city workers for refusing to sign a pledge to protect their health care from a cost-cutting deal championed by a union that endorsed them."

I quote further: "Earlier this month, the campaign of Queens Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who has surged from obscurity to the top position in one new survey, quietly changed its website to add for the first time a pledge to “reject Medicare Advantage” — the widely derided cost-cutting program that an existing deal between employee unions and City Hall aims to steer some quarter-million retirees into, hoping to save $600 million a year."

It was a "widely derided" cost-cutting program, it's worth repeating.

by Anonymousreply 155June 25, 2025 4:21 AM

Yes a few candidates refused to support Medicare for city workers. All of them beholding to certain unions supporting Medicare Advantage. I said he was one of a few. Good to know he recently changed his position but that doesn’t require much. Even Adams has backed off on that. I know Republicans love to balance budgets by cutting Medicare and Medicaid but that’s not common for Democrats. Mamdani will need to get $ from somewhere so let’s see if he actually supports Medicare.

Husband and wife both said if Cuomo runs as an independent& Adams drops out, Cuomo gets checks from both of them. These are " liberal Jewish Democratic multi-millionaires" who do not want the Terrorist to win.

I received 6 calls from multi-millionaire& Billionaire Jewish clients in the last hour. I just started drinking now!!

[quote] The middle class in NY is vanishing and isn’t enough to support the city financially.

Well, gee, that might be something to think about. Why is that? Could it be the winner-take-all society that wingnuts are always striving for? Could it be that capitalism isn't all light, love, and laughter and really does tend toward massive income inequality and driving more and more people into poverty? Do we need a little more, dare I say, socialism to balance out that tendency? Should we maybe not put the whims and moods and ever growing "needs" of the rich first and foremost, always?

by Anonymousreply 178June 25, 2025 3:35 PM

A lot of it is what you write, R178, but a lot is simply supply and demand with the NYC housing market. From the high crime nadir of the early 1990s to the "oooh Manhattan/Brooklyn is so FUN!" vibe among young people circa early 2010s.... our city became a place where more and more and more people from everywhere wanted to live. And the rich being so global these days, they all wanted a little piece of it too. "Place in NYC" as item #3, 4, 5 or 6 on their life/assets checklist, that kind of thing, even if they don't (or barely ever) live here.

There are ways to try to control the runaway (and predatory, in some cases) costs of housing in NYC, but they may be outmatched by the simple forces of supply/demand on the demand side. People still want to come here.

But in the last 4 years NY has lost more residents

Thousands of people left New York City for other parts of the United States in 2024, new data obtained by Property Shark shows.

Data shows New York City lost 352,100 residents, however, many of them did not move too far.

Data shows that earners more likely to move into New York City earn at least $100,000 per year. According to data, people earning between $50,000 and below the $100,000 mark are likely to move out of the city.

by Anonymousreply 186June 25, 2025 9:20 PM

· thanks to migration R186

More than 210,000 migrants have arrived in New York City since the spring of 2022, many hailing from countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, though a significant number have also come from China and countries in Africa.

by Anonymousreply 187June 25, 2025 9:31 PM

R187 so the population dropped by 340k, but actually grew, all because of migrants which numbered 210k?!? Something isn't adding up girl.

Recent census data shows that America's population is growing, and New York was the state with the largest numeric gains from 2023 to 2024 after a long-standing trend of residents leaving the Empire State.

From 2020 to 2023, 80 percent of the Empire State's towns and cities decreased in numbers. In 2023, New York was among only eight states with shrinking populations, alongside California, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

New York City saw some of the most significant declines, especially during the first years after the pandemic. Analysis by Cornell University found that the city's population plunged by nearly 4 percent—more than 336,000 people—in the first year of the pandemic alone as people migrated to less dense counties and even neighboring states.

That's something is you girl you can't do the basic math in the first year of the pandemic new York City lost 4% of its population approximately 360,000 people in one year while over the next several years 210,00 migrants arrived in NY.

by Anonymousreply 199June 25, 2025 11:05 PM

R199 Dude, people were leaving New York because of the pandemic but the trend reversed starting in 2024. wtf don’t you understand. That poster posted facts.

Everybody and they mama wants to live in New York. Social media clips sensationalize crime. Sure, crime went up somewhat during and after the pandemic. New York is still the safest it’s ever been compared to the entire decades of the 80s and 90s.

by Anonymousreply 203June 26, 2025 1:07 AM

R202 Ok that’s not what he said. He said the population was reverting back to increasing. Do you even understand how trends work as it pertains to sociology and demographic patterns. It went up if it increased from 2023 to 2024. I bet you, it will be back to pre Covid levels by the time 2026 rolls in.

Though we must see how this new mayor pans out.

Yes, because other states are growing much faster. It’s a proportional allotment of a finite number of seats. This is not rocket science.

Congress has full constitutional power to increase the finite number to more than 435 any time it wants.
