Exclusive: Early US intel assessment suggests strikes on Iran did not destroy nuclear sites, sources say

The US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities last weekend did not destroy the core components of the country’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, according to an early US intelligence assessment that was described by four people briefed on it.

The assessment, which has not been previously reported, was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s intelligence arm. It is based on a battle damage assessment conducted by US Central Command in the aftermath of the US strikes, one of the sources said.

The analysis of the damage to the sites and the impact of the strikes on Iran’s nuclear ambitions is ongoing, and could change as more intelligence becomes available. But the early findings are at odds with President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the strikes “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also said on Sunday that Iran’s nuclear ambitions “have been obliterated.”

Two of the people familiar with the assessment said Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium was not destroyed. One of the people said the centrifuges are largely “intact.”

“So the (DIA) assessment is that the US set them back maybe a few months, tops,” this person added.

The White House acknowledged the existence of the assessment but said they disagreed with it.

INCOMPETENCE is the theme everyone.

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2025 7:57 PM

Obliterated, my ass.

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2025 7:59 PM

I'll get Donald the Dunce to do it again.

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2025 8:00 PM

But I was so sure everything was obliterated when they claimed as much five minutes after the mission. Whaaaaat?

I'm beginning to think this whole thing — from Israel's attack to our bombing — is just another elaborate rouse to influence the American people just like Reagan did with the hostages in 1980, which we now know for fact that he did collude with the Iranians to hold the hostages to influence the election. What we don't know is Trump's goal in colluding with the Iranians although there are plenty of possibilities ranging from influencing the global oil market all the way through to their increasingly friendly relationship with China. And what's scary is that Trump has such a feeble grasp on reality that he may have completely failed to comprehend that there are multiple actors engaging in behavior in promotion of their self interests in total contrast to US interests. IOW, he's playing with fire, the firefighters have all been fired and replaced with clowns, the fire extinguishers have been used and/or are unreliable, and he's smeared us all with flammable goo.

Like all world leaders, in order to manipulate the gullible buffoon, Netanyahu flatters Trump in front of his face, and then laughs at him behind his back. No different than the G7 recently, Israel and Iran consider Trump to be an incompetent ignoramus.

Best part, Trump now realizes he is a global sucker!

A global Useful Idiot that got played - big time.

by Anonymousreply 9June 24, 2025 8:20 PM

I’m glad Trump is going to The Hague. He should “remain” there.

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2025 8:20 PM

R9. So do the Russians. They laugh at him and Melania on state media. Putin thinks of him as nothing but a useful idiot and a dumb clown.

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2025 8:23 PM

Trump hates negotiating because it cuts into his money scamming time.

by Anonymousreply 12June 24, 2025 8:23 PM

After receiving billions of dollars in cash and all the bombs they can drop, now the Jews want American bodies in bags.

Trump is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2025 8:23 PM

Sad thing is Trumps base believe everything he says.

Today no wars. Yay!

Tomorrow war. Yay!

And in his tiny brain his inflated ego believes whatever he says will be believed by all. The rest of the world understands that he is tiny, delusional man.

Congressman Pat Ryan (D-NY):

Trump just cancelled a classified House briefing on the Iran strikes with zero explanation.

The real reason?

He claims he destroyed “all nuclear facilities and capability;” his team knows they can’t back up his bluster and BS

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2025 8:28 PM

So you’re saying Trump is still the incompetent, sexual assaulting, daughter sexualizing , rapist, election denying, convicted felon, compulsive lying, cult leader that we’ve known him to be?

Okay.

by Anonymousreply 16June 24, 2025 8:32 PM

R7 went HARD on the 🔥 metaphors.

by Anonymousreply 17June 24, 2025 9:07 PM

This wasn't meant to be a publicly available report. So who released this and why? Is someone trying to goad Trump into further bombings?

by Anonymousreply 18June 24, 2025 9:09 PM

^^Genocidal Netanyahu released it. He wants more bombings on Iran and Gaza...to distract everyone from Israel stealing more land in the West Bank.

by Anonymousreply 19June 24, 2025 9:52 PM

Trump: "Mission Accomplished, This Time By a Smart President Not Like That Dumb One."

by Anonymousreply 20June 24, 2025 10:06 PM

Really quite strange to see so many people excited at the prospect of Iran getting a nuclear bomb.

by Anonymousreply 21June 24, 2025 10:19 PM

Everyone involved in this report will be fired by Hegseth on Trump's orders.

by Anonymousreply 22June 24, 2025 10:26 PM

R21 has never heard about the “when do we get to use the guns” people. Of course deplorables want to see global death and destruction.

President Donald Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes against Iran is broadly unpopular with Americans, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS after the strikes.

Americans disapprove of the strikes, 56% to 44%, according to the survey, with strong disapproval outpacing the share who strongly approve. Most distrust Trump’s decision-making on the use of force in Iran, with about 6 in 10 worried that the strikes will increase the Iranian threat to the US.

THUMP is a cunt

A satirical piece by The Atlantic describes the Trump administration as having "the longterm strategic acumen of an enraged opossum stuck in a trash bag."

Uh oh, R25, his ratings are down. Hopefully, this means his reality show will be canceled soon.

[quote]Really quite strange to see so many people excited at the prospect of Iran getting a nuclear bomb.

R21. Not really. But we loathe Trump so much, we would prefer to see him be spectacularly humiliated and lose miserably so that he has a heart attack and dies.

by Anonymousreply 29June 25, 2025 2:50 AM

I knew it was all theater.

by Anonymousreply 30June 25, 2025 3:19 AM

Is this like the WMD bullshit? Why would anyone believe Repugs?

by Anonymousreply 31June 25, 2025 4:26 AM

I’m sure the ones that released this are already on their way to that prison in El Salvador.

by Anonymousreply 32June 25, 2025 4:35 AM

I appreciate Whiskey Pete’s efforts to avoid a bottle neck at Strait of Vermouth-hiccup…

by Anonymousreply 33June 25, 2025 5:00 AM

I wonder if he tolerates the sleazy gay billionaires that permeate the Trump administration. He seems a total homophobe.

by Anonymousreply 34June 25, 2025 5:06 AM

So a former reality TV star and infamous conman LIED about Iran's nuclear sites being totally obliterated?!

by Anonymousreply 35June 25, 2025 7:22 AM

Suspect the preliminary assessment that the attack was a bust is accurate.

Patriotic leakers wanted to make sure the truth got out before someone took a Sharpie to its conclusions.
