Brandon!

by Anonymousreply 1June 24, 2025 6:27 PM

Wow, nothing for so long and then... THIS!

by Anonymousreply 2June 24, 2025 6:29 PM

R2 he has been doing theatre in NY for a while now.

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2025 6:30 PM

Terrible casting.

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2025 6:30 PM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2025 6:30 PM

r3 Yeah, I meant TV shows and movies. Stuff that people actually see.

by Anonymousreply 6June 24, 2025 6:32 PM

Brandon is 32. He’ll be playing Dean from 19-24. Hmmm.

by Anonymousreply 7June 24, 2025 6:33 PM

Has he... Improved as an actor since 13 Reasons Why? And if you fuck someone in order to get cast as JD does it count as method acting?

by Anonymousreply 8June 24, 2025 6:34 PM

He was recently in the Apple TV series about the Lincoln Assassination.

by Anonymousreply 9June 24, 2025 6:34 PM

R7 well 24 would have to be the cutoff as Dean died at 24.

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2025 6:34 PM

Yes, dear. I know.

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2025 6:35 PM

R6 people see theatre. Theatre is local though. Clearly not everyone can see it like tv where you don’t have to get off your fat ass to see it. You have to actually go see it in person, live, and actually be in the city the show is happening.

by Anonymousreply 12June 24, 2025 6:36 PM

Hopefully they show full penetration or at least hole

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2025 6:47 PM

This isn’t a porno. Fucking imbecile

by Anonymousreply 14June 24, 2025 6:58 PM

Who? And I'm not speaking about James Dean.

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2025 7:47 PM

This is bad casting

by Anonymousreply 16June 25, 2025 4:00 AM

Apparently Twitter thinks Willie Dean is going to be played by Joe Locke (the unfortunate looking goblin from Heartstopper) since the director just started following him.

by Anonymousreply 17June 25, 2025 6:20 PM

Another unnecessary biopic.

by Anonymousreply 18June 25, 2025 6:33 PM

He was chosen because he’s gay and you can’t have a straight person playing gay.

by Anonymousreply 19June 25, 2025 6:34 PM

I'm really tired of decades of Marilyn and James Dean hero-worship. It just never ends - at least Marilyn had a long career, some infamous marriages/affairs, and died tragically and suspiciously.

James Dean though? 3 films and a car crash. I don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 20June 25, 2025 6:37 PM

I think the realization that James Dean was gay has kept the fascination with him alive.

He only did three films, but they left quite an impression.

by Anonymousreply 21June 25, 2025 6:41 PM

Brandon is a good actor. I just saw him playing a young Marlon Brando in the off-Broadway play Kowalski.

by Anonymousreply 22June 25, 2025 7:34 PM

Said play ^^^ is supposedly slated to move to Broadway in the fall...

by Anonymousreply 23June 25, 2025 7:34 PM

R21 his impression has nothing to do with him ALLEGEDLY being bi.

There is zero proof to back any of it up. And the fascination came from the fact he died young as his career was about to explode.

by Anonymousreply 24June 25, 2025 7:39 PM

Clearly the biopic obsession isn't ending anytime soon.

by Anonymousreply 25June 25, 2025 7:39 PM

[quote]Brandon is 32. He’ll be playing Dean from 19-24. Hmmm.

To be fair, James Dean was looking rather haggard toward the end, with lines on his forehead and bags under his eyes.

R24 - so what? A lot of actors have died young - but for some reason, the mythology around Dean just grows. It's weird. River Phoenix? Brandon Lee? Heath Ledger? Paul Walker?

All of them had equal if not larger careers. There's something else about him - or just that there's a lot of royalty checks when his image I sold or used. Same thing with Marilyn - she gave the Acting Studio in NYC her estate and they've been cashing in our her pics and images for over 60 years.

Dean's estate makes around $5 million a year - Marilyn's estate was sold by the Strasberg's to ABG and it earns around $10 million a year. It's gross.

by Anonymousreply 27June 25, 2025 8:10 PM

R27 did all those guys die in 1955? Dean died LONG before them. Bringing them up is irrelevant.

Every actor you mentioned died after working for years and had many credits. He died after 3 credits at the beginning of his career. In 1955. Not the 90s or 2000s

by Anonymousreply 28June 25, 2025 8:15 PM

Casted badly.

by Anonymousreply 29June 25, 2025 8:22 PM

Cash is king. Give the people what they want.

by Anonymousreply 30June 25, 2025 8:23 PM

R28 - which makes it even weirder - he died 70 years ago. Most people under 40 haven't seen any of his films. It's not a reason for his popularity.

I don't think there's an answer but I just don't understand it.

by Anonymousreply 31June 25, 2025 8:25 PM

James Dean looks like Boo Radley.
