Thank you for being a cunt: Cher offered “Golden Girls” guest role and never even bothered to respond

Buried in the soon-to-be legendary “Golden Girls” Hollywood Reporter story was the fact that producers offered self-professed “Golden Girls” fan Cher the role of Sophia’s son Phil’s wife “Big Sally” for a gust appearance.

Her response? Nothing. Not even the courtesy of declining.

Cher, apparently, was too busy riding Richie Sambora’s dick, doing humiliating infomercials for Lori Davis hair care products and neglecting her fucked up kids to bother to even respond.

What a bitch.

The link is the same as the main story because no other outlet has picked up on this factoid that’s quite deep into the story. No one can be bothered to read anymore.

Every day Cher seems more despicable, unprofessional and self-centered than the day before.

I doubt Cher even heard about it.

by Anonymousreply 1June 22, 2025 4:13 AM

And we have a new troll it seems, one dedicated to spewing hatred at Cher...

by Anonymousreply 2June 22, 2025 4:17 AM

R2 = Georganne LaPiere, hoping to be in the will.

by Anonymousreply 3June 22, 2025 4:22 AM

Oh, this is so exciting!

by Anonymousreply 4June 22, 2025 4:48 AM

Cher was winning an Oscar, building her movie career, and making a comeback on the pop charts when 'The Golden Girls' was on. She probably didn't have time to make an appearance on a sitcom. Or they probably couldn't afford her.

by Anonymousreply 5June 22, 2025 4:51 AM

yeah that episode was broadcast in 1990 when she was still making films.

by Anonymousreply 6June 22, 2025 4:53 AM

"Bitter feud between Betty White and Bea Arthur"

Lesbian drama.

by Anonymousreply 7June 22, 2025 4:54 AM

Her management probably put the offer in the "don't bother telling Cher" pile.

by Anonymousreply 8June 22, 2025 5:07 AM

I can't imagine Cher in that role. she is too larger than life to be believable as the character. She only appeared on Will & Grace as herself.

by Anonymousreply 9June 22, 2025 5:15 AM

Cher always made excellent career choices.

by Anonymousreply 10June 22, 2025 5:25 AM

Well, it was good enough for Sonny Bono.

by Anonymousreply 11June 22, 2025 6:08 AM

Cher was a joke with her infomercials. She had had body-sculpting plastic surgery and went on to do gym and fitness commercials as if that was how she maintained her body.

by Anonymousreply 12June 22, 2025 8:40 AM

R12- My THIGHMASTER commercials were much more dignified.

by Anonymousreply 13June 22, 2025 11:06 AM

No, thank YOU for being a cunt...

by Anonymousreply 14June 22, 2025 11:27 AM

Smart decision, though I would assume R8 has it right: she probably didn't snub the offer, it more likely never reached her eyes or ears.

She has made some curious career choices over six decades, but not doing a small part on the shitty Golden Girls seems the right decision.

by Anonymousreply 15June 22, 2025 11:40 AM

She also turned down The X-Files despite claiming to be a fan. That episode had Mulder and Scully attend a Cher concert and dance to "Walking in Memphis" while wearing boxy 90s business attire. They had to hire a Cher impersonator and keep her face obscured.

Cher, you fucking idiot!

by Anonymousreply 16June 22, 2025 11:58 AM

Brenda Vaccaro was perfectly cast as "Big Sally."

by Anonymousreply 17June 22, 2025 2:49 PM

When Sophia went on and on lamenting Phil’s penchant for cross dressing, Cher would’ve slapped her and yelled “Snap out of it!”.

by Anonymousreply 18June 22, 2025 2:54 PM

Funner the first time we did this.

GOLDEN GIRLS (1985-1992) was consistently among the Top 10 shows in the ratings for 6 of its 7 seasons.

During Season 7 (1991-1992) it fell to #30 because they fucked up with its time slot.

The episode in question "Ebbtide's Revenge" was from Season 6 (1990-1991).

Incidentally, Sonny Bono guest-starred as a spoof of himself in the episode "Mrs. George Devereaux" (also from Season 6) when he was mayor of Palm Springs (1988-1992).

It could have been a reunion of sorts between her and Estelle, who appeared in Mask as Cher’s mother.

And who could forget this Sonny & Cher cameo from the Season 5 episode "An Illegitimate Concern"? 😂

She admitted that she now regrets turning that down.

And boxy business attire or not, man, M&S looked gorgeous dancing together.

by Anonymousreply 23June 22, 2025 4:19 PM

R20 - Maybe she ir her management didn't want her to appear if Sony already had a cameo in the same season.

by Anonymousreply 24June 22, 2025 4:30 PM

Cher would have been distracting because it was Cher sitting around with a bunch of old hags.

by Anonymousreply 25June 22, 2025 4:32 PM

This story sounds like a myth. One of those things that might have been pitched inside the writer’s room but it never happened.

by Anonymousreply 26June 22, 2025 4:33 PM

Cher sang The Golden Girls theme song for the Betty White tribute last year.

by Anonymousreply 27June 22, 2025 4:33 PM

OP doesn't understand the assignment.

Oviously.

by Anonymousreply 28June 22, 2025 5:17 PM

Cher is not a Florida kind of gal.

by Anonymousreply 29June 22, 2025 7:43 PM

Who does she remind you of?

Great. That’s nice.

She’s still an untalented, illiterate prostitute.

by Anonymousreply 31June 22, 2025 8:02 PM

The Cher bashing troll is out of control.

This moron aside:

Cher was offered the parts on The Golden Girls and The Xfiles.

She chose not to do either for whatever reason. So yes, she did know.

She also has been quite open about regretting not doing either.

Georgie, her sister,(the original Heather on GH) is her best friend along with her former assistant Polly Betts. Polly married Dicky Betts who was in The Allman Brothers band. Both women are all set with Chers' estate.

And as for untalented, her B.A. Oscar, her Golden Globe , her Emmy and her Grammy didn't just fall out of the sky.

Now you can go back to the "She hates her trans daughter" or better "She won't help her junkie son" bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 32June 22, 2025 8:24 PM

What is wrong with r32?

by Anonymousreply 33June 22, 2025 10:11 PM

[quote] What is wrong with [R32]?

R32= Cher.

by Anonymousreply 34June 23, 2025 4:32 AM

Leave Cher alone!

by Anonymousreply 35June 23, 2025 12:06 PM

[quote] I can't imagine Cher in that role. she is too larger than life to be believable as the character.

Isn’t the point of acting being able to portray a character potentially unlike yourself? That’s why it’s called “acting.”

You’re basically saying she can’t act.

by Anonymousreply 36June 23, 2025 10:19 PM

She’s too fabulous to even pretend otherwise?

by Anonymousreply 37June 23, 2025 10:22 PM

[quote] And as for untalented, her B.A. Oscar, her Golden Globe , her Emmy and her Grammy didn't just fall out of the sky.

If Cher has a Grammy, every billy goat on the farm deserves one, too.

by Anonymousreply 38June 23, 2025 10:35 PM

Yes she does r38. The goat you heard was Stevie Nicks. Also an Grammy winner.

And she's been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. I can't remember if this was before or after her Kennedy Center honor.

by Anonymousreply 39June 24, 2025 12:23 AM

[quote] And she's been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame.

Wasn’t this right after she said she wouldn’t accept being inducted if they gave her $1 million? Such conviction.

She’s as true to her promises as she is a devoted mother.

Yep. Sounds just like that phony, two-bit whore Cher. A true narcissist, er, woman of her word.

by Anonymousreply 41June 24, 2025 1:27 AM

Pope John Paul II wanted an album signed and Cher didn't even bother to respond to the letter he sent. Her maid found it in the trashcan in the bathroom-- wrapped around a used tampon.

by Anonymousreply 42June 24, 2025 1:46 AM

I bet this is like the situation with Ina Garden and the Make A Wish kid; they both never knew.
