Is Iconic film Paris Is Burning being re-marketed as a “groundbreaking” trans film?

We just passed this great old documentary in a movie lineup on HBO/Max. I decided to watch the trailer since it’s been years Since I’ve seen it. Apparently it’s been remastered and throughout the trailer, several quotes and statements about the film pop up on screen and at least two describe it as a groundbreaking film on the trans culture. I didn’t care enough to go back to see where the quotes were coming from but, like Gay Pride and Stonewall I have no doubt this too will be whitewashed and cleansed of all things specific to gay men.

It’s a film about people who, regardless of the nomenclature of the era, would certainly identify as trans today.

What’s the problem?

Fuck off trans troll.

Some of them were trans(vestites).

Some of them were trans(sexuals).

Some of them were gay.

You ok, OP?

by Anonymousreply 5June 22, 2025 1:06 AM

Yes R3 and despite their differences they seemed to behave as if they were all part of the same community, fighting the same fight. Interesting, isn’t it.

by Anonymousreply 8June 22, 2025 1:41 AM

No they all were not fighting the same fight…whatever fight that’s supposed to mean

by Anonymousreply 9June 22, 2025 3:47 AM

Well they were definitely guys, turning everything into a competition.

They were walking in DRAG balls!

They weren't fighting any fight!

by Anonymousreply 11June 22, 2025 6:30 AM

That's one piece that blurs the lines between transvestite, trans and drag. Today's male drag performer is tomorrow's lesbian MTF.

by Anonymousreply 12June 22, 2025 6:41 AM

Who’s cares it’s a great film

by Anonymousreply 13June 22, 2025 6:52 AM

Paris Is Burning threw the first punch at Chris Rock at the Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 14June 22, 2025 6:56 AM

R7 you believe in trans ideology and OP is the weirdo?
