We just passed this great old documentary in a movie lineup on HBO/Max. I decided to watch the trailer since it’s been years Since I’ve seen it. Apparently it’s been remastered and throughout the trailer, several quotes and statements about the film pop up on screen and at least two describe it as a groundbreaking film on the trans culture. I didn’t care enough to go back to see where the quotes were coming from but, like Gay Pride and Stonewall I have no doubt this too will be whitewashed and cleansed of all things specific to gay men.
Is Iconic film Paris Is Burning being re-marketed as a “groundbreaking” trans film?

It’s a film about people who, regardless of the nomenclature of the era, would certainly identify as trans today.
What’s the problem?

Yes R3 and despite their differences they seemed to behave as if they were all part of the same community, fighting the same fight. Interesting, isn’t it.

They were walking in DRAG balls!
They weren't fighting any fight!

That's one piece that blurs the lines between transvestite, trans and drag. Today's male drag performer is tomorrow's lesbian MTF.
